I am glad to say, I am really proud of this, despite the mistakes. I really love this chapter, definitely my favorite so far. I hope you all love it <3.

Chapter 3
Monster(Emeth)

"Lydia! Annabeth! Riley!" I called out their names in hope of a response. Nothing. Being left alone in the middle of nowhere, walking through patches of corn to find a way back. Oh thanks friends for all your help, yea forgetting me, no big deal. Love you too. I stumbled through another patch of corn and finally into a path.

No path behind me and only a single one in front of me. What other choice did I have? I could aimlessly run through the corn but I would only get more lost. If I keep following the path I will find someone eventually. After everything that had happened so far tonight, this haunted maze was getting a little bit too haunted for my taste.

A dimly lit light then appeared farther down the maze's path. With each step it grew larger and larger, until it was about the size of a tennis ball. I thought it was someone with a flashlight, perhaps someone else trying to navigate the maze. I was wrong. The closer I got the more curious the light became. It bobbed up and down unnaturally. Like it was floating.

I soon found out that I was right. Within a few feet of me now stood, or floated rather, a ball-sized orb of light. Obviously I was going crazy. There was no way for light to float in midair in a solid form but was it solid? I had to be sure. Hesitantly I held my hand out to touch the orb. As I was about to touch it the color suddenly flashed into a bright blue color which forced me to jump backwards.

What the heck was this thing? I was beginning to think I was in a big game of "Get Emeth back for all his scientific mumbojumbo" but something about this was odd. The orb gave off a breeze, it was cool and it made me feel safe. I had to try to touch it again. This time I didn't give it a chance to surprise me. I threw my hand at it as quick as possible slamming my hand threw the orb which shattered.

As the pieces flew threw the air the world around me started to change. The bright light from the moon and the clouds changed into a pure white sky. My feet tingled as the dirt below me flowed away and was replaced with the most beautiful green grass I had ever seen. The air morphed from a dying corn smell to the aroma of flowers. It was amazing.

The fresh cool air caressed my face and my hair blew with the furiousness of the wind. Rollings hills of green grass and flowers the color of the rainbow surrounded me on every side. Before I knew it I had gone from a dingy corn field to the most beautiful place in the world. A smile that only a kiss from someone you love could create came across my face. This place was perfect. I could even see without my glasses. I almost didn't notice I was somewhere I shouldn't be able to be.

As I realized this the smile faded from my face. My head jolted back and forth as I started to panic. The sky changed from the bright white sky to a much darker one. For a moment I thought I was going back to where I supposed to. I was wrong, again. The grass and flowers around me shriveled and died and the once fresh smelling air had became smoggy and heavy. In a moment I had gone from dingy corn field, to the most beautiful place in the world, to the worst place in the world.

"You have seen them. What is beautiful and what is ugly. What you saw was what the world used to look like. Full of beauty and peace. That is a time when everyone worked together to shape the world into a place we all wanted to live, but it didn't last long. The people became lazy and soon they stopped caring for the beautiful world they lived in. It took many years but the world began to crumble. The well kept grass and flowers wilted. The clean air was filled with toxins. The laziness and hatred even knocked the sun out of the sky. You have allowed this to happen and now you must pay."

The voice that had explained what I had just seen then began to show itself. A large figure, at least seven feet tall, was covered in the darkness. Only an outline of his body could be seen. A constantly moving darkness. The body formed it's legs which were thin and pointed at the end. It began to form it's chest which was the shape of a upside-down triangle. The darkness continued to flow to it's head which was a much smaller, skinnier upside-down triangle. The arms formed in the same was as they legs, long and skinny. Pointed ears formed on top of his head and his eyes glowed an intense blue. Stone walls arose around us, preventing any escape.

"You must defeat me, Socors, or you will perish here." The creatures voice was monotone and terrified me.

My mind could not wrap around what was happening. A second ago I was a safe in a corn field and now I was in some alternate dimension or something fighting a giant monster who claimed I had something to do with destroying it's world? Nothing made any sense. I had to be dreaming. This is a physical impossibility and there was no way I could be here. My only hope was to try to wake myself up so I closed my eyes. It wasn't a good idea.

The darkness swirled around his right hand and created the form of a claw. With great speed he swiped it at me. I opened my eyes to see it was about to be to hit. I tried to dodge it, only to fall backwards on my butt just barley missing the huge claw.

"Closing your eyes during a fight? How very like you."

I had felt the pain of falling onto my butt. Real pain. Not like that fake stuff you sometimes feel in very vivid dreams. This was real. The dream or wherever it was may not have been real but I had just felt pain and that was real. Whether my life was truly at stake, or this was simply a vivid dream of an unconscious maze goer, I knew the only was out was to fight.

It's was an odd feeling at first. I was defiantly terrified, but something was different. Then it hit me. As scary as this was I was actually enjoying it. It was exciting, and like something I would read out of some fantasy book. It was something that I always wished could actually happen, being trust into a world of fantasy with powers.

I stood my ground, prepared for anything the monster would throw at me. He made the same move again, forming a giant claw around his hand and swiping it toward me. Not being as prepared as I thought, I simply put my hands up in defense. Awaiting the inevitable, it never came. As the claw was about to hit, a frigid air blew out of nowhere and I watched as my hands turned ice cold. The cold mist flowed out of my hand and trapped the claw in a spiky block of ice.

I couldn't help but smile. This was the best dream ever. I threw a punch at the block of ice and it shattered. The monster let out a high pitch scream for only a moment before forming a new hand. All fear was now gone. I ran for the monstrous being and jumped into the air. To be honest I wasn't sure what going to happen. Would I jump really high with no effort? Would I just fall right back down to the ground?

A pillar of ice came from the ground and lifted me into the air and right above the beast head. I landed on top, as he struggled to shake me off. My feet became ice cold and surrounded my ankles and attached to the monster, keeping my in place. He began to swing his hands in my direction and each time I coated my arms in ice to block his attacks. His strength grew and my legs began to break free from the ice. I wasn't strong enough to maintain it.

Within thinking, as the monster made another pass to hit me I grabbed his wrist. My hands turned a deep blue and his arm began to freeze. At his shoulder the ice stopped. I tried to make it continue, but being so unsure how to exactly make that happen, it didn't advance. The monster responded, sensing it was his chance to defeat me. He began to run furiously towards the wall in an attempt to make me fall. I focused as hard as I could hoping to harden the ice so it would keep me in place.

I braced for impact, in a few moments I would either smash in the wall and fall or probably break my ankles. Neither scenario would benefit me any. I was sure it was the end, and then a weird thing happen. I thought of someone, you know the whole "life flashes before your eyes, you see the person you truly care about, yadayada" thing actually happens. It wasn't who I expected though. I saw Lydia.

A scream from the beast interrupted my lifeflash. I looked down to see a small piece of ice had arose from the ground, causing the monster to begin to trip. "Looks like I am going down with him", I thought. Once more, I tried to continue the flow of ice to cover his whole body. In the blink of an eye, his body was completely covered in ice, I had done it. The monster continued his fall, and when his body hit the ground it shattered into a million dirty monster pieces. I fell into a roll, like I had seen in the movies, to break my fall.

Who knew it would work? I safety landed on the ground in front of where the monster would be, if I hadn't completely murdered him. Oh yea. A voice cut my victory dance short(which consisted of an odd rendition of the pharaoh dance, and some kind of disco point).

"You have completed the test, better then most. This is only the beginning for you, Socors. Defeat what is inside you, and it will set you free from that which holds you. Your friends await you, all but one. It seems he has failed. I grant you my power, in hope that you may save him, and save yourself." The voice disappeared and the walls around me fell, revealing again the corn maze.

"That was the craziest dream ever. Ouch." I grabbed my shoulder in pain, which only made it worse. I peeled away the piece of my shirt to reveal the wound. A piece of ice, sharp as glass, was sticking out of the wound. "No freaking way." I said in shock. The corn in front of me, once a dead end, began to lay down by itself, creating a path forward. "You have got to be kidding me."

I held my hands out in front of me, and examined them hoping for an answer. Like my own dream coming to life before my eyes, the blue mist started to rise from my hands, making my hands turn blue. Small pieces of stalactite ice started to rise from them. No pain, and almost no effort. I relaxed and the ice melted and the water fell off my skin and to the ground.

Looking forward to the path before me, there was no reason for me to stand here and stare any longer. The voice said one of my friends had failed. That meant everyone else had faced a similar test, and that one didn't make it. My mind instantly went to the worst place. Lucas. So far, I had proven that this was longer a dream. Reality had hit me, hard. With this new realization, I jolted down the newly opened path in hopes to find my friend awaiting me at the end.

um, it's awesome. I like the sarcasm in the first paragraph x) there are typos though and I had some confusion over this paragraph: "My feet became ice cold and surrounded my ankles and attached to the monster." His feet became ice cold and surrounded his ankles? it's an easily fixable typo. just bringing it up.
I really, really like this part: "It's was an odd feeling at first. I was defiantly terrified, but something was different. Then it hit me. As scary as this was I was actually enjoying it. It was exciting, and like something I would read out of some fantasy book. It was something that I always wished could actually happen, being trust into a world of fantasy with powers."
I think that works really, really well for a guy's perspective. A girl, (for example, me :x ) would probably be terrified and not enjoy it at all. But it's exactly like a guy to be terrified but suddenly realize..he's having the time of his life. I found that excellent. Actually, I found the whole thing excellent. it's just, the typos!!! other than those things I brought up, it is legit.
