Photography this Spring!

It was finally nice outside (its been rainy for a loooong time, and before that snow!) so I ventured out to take some pictures. Its been a while since I've had time to come on here, but I thought I'd post a few of the pictures for reviews. I'm always looking to improve my photography! Almost no editing was done, just resizing & mild tweaking. Also, Empire Graphics is the name I use on other sites, and these have been posted there hence the big copyrights. Just to clarify! They look much better larger, but I'm not talented enough to know how to post them larger and not stretch out screens haha. Enjoy, and thanks in advance!

These are definitely some lovely images and I have to imagine that you must live out in a fairly rural area, huh. I know what you mean about the weather, too. The water’s been so bad that the road south of my house collapsed into the water and there’s nearly eight inches over the main route to the nearest Wal-Mart.

Anyways, pictures!

1st: So I really love the colors in this more than anything else and the lines of it. I live in South Dakota so I’m used to seeing a lot of fences and field grass but I think you’ve really done a wonder in representing them in an image.

2nd: I like this a lot but I do think it could have been cropped a little different to nudge the birds down a smidge further into the bottom left hand corner. They seem just a bit too near the center of the photo which throws the whole picture off.

3rd: I do rather like this and I especially like the grayscale effect. It’s definitely a lovely location. I wouldn’t say it’s spectacular but I would say that you have a crazy wonderful subject more than anything else. I think it’s because there’s a lot of the same grey sky in there that it’s not quite awesomesauce!

4th: I was so confused as to what I was looking at until you gave a description of what it is. It’s also my favorite of these four, most especially for its uniqueness and I have to really commend you on that!

All and all, you’ve done a great job and you’ve got some very beautiful subjects too!

Thank you both! I live in a medium sized town; these were taken up in the very small North Dakota town I'll be living in this summer...so yes, very rural haha. We have similar landscapes then, if you're just south of me in the other Dakota.

The second wasn't cropped at all. Perhaps I'll go back and try doing some cropping! I hadn't really thought of that. As for the fourth, it was definitely a spur of the moment thing. I was trying to get closer to some ducks so I trekked out onto an almost-underwater dock. As I was making my way back I saw the grass and figured, hey why not? When I went to upload them I must say I loved how it turned out, what with the colors and everything. Thank you for the critiques!

I like the first one and the third the best. I'm not sure why either.

The first was of a fence, but the angle at which the picture was taken gave it personality I think. It made me think of those stops you take on long roadtrips. It made me hear cars passing, and crickets chirping, a slight breeze rushing through the grass.

The third one sort of reminds me of the poem by Robert Frost. "Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the path less traveled by..." It was really profound, and kind of melancholy, but also self-fulfilling.

Hey there =]. So, I liked these. A lot. Its not very often that I give nice comments on photography, since very rarely is it something that's close enough to good that I don't have any nit picks. But these are really nice. I liked the third one the most because it was such strange, but beautiful, subject matter. It's not something someone would look at and find beautiful, but you definitely found that beauty in it all . =] Well done and I hope to see more.

The first picture is very nicely done. I like the way it comes off as blurry as the rails go further back. But what I love the most about this is the colors. The closest was the darkest, then the second closest is very light, probably the reflection of the sun, ayt? Then the rest nicely blends in with the colors of the grass.

I like the second one, too. I like the nice light line on the birds back, making it easy to point out - shapes aside - that they are birds even though their colors are kind of the same as the tree branches on the right side. The background is a great (but soft, because it's blurred, and of course because of the light colors) contrast for the otherwise gloomy picture of the foreground. (Hope that made sense.)

Oh, I love this. I really like nicely done black and white pictures. De-saturating a picture sometimes intensifies details which wouldn't really stand out much in colored pictures.

This last picture is what I'm not so fond of. It looks a bit foggy, like too much cyan or so. Did you edit this? But if not, and if it is natural, then fine. But I still don't like it much like I like the others.

All in all, these are wonderful pictures. Not new to my eyes though, but they're still good. I like the way you've put your watermarks. =)) Keep on shooting!

The last is foggy due to the water, which is also why it has the blue-ish tint. It wasn't edited at all, simply resized. Thank you much for the kind words and critique everyone! Its all very helpful. I'm glad you mentioned the watermarks. I always have a fear that my copyright will take away from the image, yet since I post on some sites known for people taking photos for other uses I definitely want them on there. Its good to hear they aren't too bad, then, as far as watermarks go!

Oh my they are just breathtakingly beautiful loved the way how in the picture with the fence in it the front was in focus but the back was blurry. You are an amazing creative and unique photographer keep up the good work.

Hello Tayler! This are really great photos. <3

1 - WOW! This is the best of all the four for me, the focus and the blur that you applied on this is really nice. It really gives out a nice warm feel. The rusty looking fence really works in a harmonious way with the warm-colored surroundings, very nice.
2 - The Birds are well placed, it really makes it the focus because of the opposite color it has with the branches. Great work!
3 - My second most favorite in your work, the setting is well placed and the concept make this a VERY great shot! The silhouette of the short trees and the reflection in the pond make this great, it really executes the mood that this photo tries to tell to the audience.
4 - This is nice! The only thing that I don't really like is that it looks really hazy, this was from the plants on the water right? I kinda feel the colors seem to be really dull, this is kinda the least favorite of your photos.

These are really great works, you have a god-like talent for photography, I expect to see more photos from you.
