Hey Everybody! Could you give me some tips on how to improve my drawing skills? Thanks! Hope to hear from you!

If you want to be a great writer, don't think about what you're going to write, just write it.
I'm a huge fan of writers block! When your brain halts, with no direction for where you should go, it gives you threads. All you have to do is pull and unravel the story you're meant to write.
Hey there bud =] So I'm sort of freakishly obsessed with horses at times. I went through a rather huge horse stage from the time I was born to even now. Haha =] But what I do when I'm drawing is draw the basic shapes first. I draw a circle for the head. Two circles for the chest and hind quarters. Basic rectangles for the legs, and then add on the detail. Definitely study pictures and those How to draw books, are really descent. They're basic but they also help you learn shape and structure. Overall I like the idea of this picture, and its a solid drawing, but it just needs a little bit more. Just take your time on the shape. It'll come in time =]
hey! You got the horses profile done well, but it's looks pretty two dimensional. To make it look 3D, you could shade the edges so you can't see the outline. Also shading and highlights and low lights are important. I think it's head is a little bit to small. Otherwise, great. Good detail on the head and tail. One more thing- it's mane is sticking strait up! flopping it over would look more normal.
Nice horse, I love the pose and character in this picture. He looks like he is prancing- quite a proud one, isn't he?
As to what I can see that you could improve, the immediate impression I got was his neck is far too long, and his head too small. Horses in general have quite large heads, and in your drawing it seems a little small in comparison to the body. So next time, try shortening the neck a little, or making it a little thicker, and have a larger head.
Another thing I noticed is the mane looks a little unnatural. Try putting more curves in it, give it a little more movement. It kind of reminds me of a zebra at the moment.
His front leg on the side closest to us is a little thin at the top. Horses have quite large, powerful shoulders, and you have the idea on the back half- you can see in your picture how you have included the curve for the shoulder? for the one closest, try widening the top of the leg.
The back leg on the horse furtherest away from us is a little too far forward, it looks like it is positioned on the stomach at the moment.
I do like the shape of the feet on your drawing, though. I can never get those right. And his hindquarters looks pretty good too.
Overall- keep on drawing, there are some really good features on this horse. I love his stance, his expression, his feet and tail, and his hindquarters. When I draw things and try for realism, I usually need a reference. Try copying pictures on google to work on the anatomy. This is a pretty cute horse and with work, you'll be an expert at drawing them. =P

It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
Great start you've got there. I second Nutty's advice above, and I'd also like to add a couple little notes:
The transition between belly and breast is iffy to me--it curves up too steeply just before the foreleg, and so seems off when compared to the chest. I'd suggest making that curve a bit softer, and maybe giving the chest a bit more depth.
Also, a word about the forelegs: the left one seems a bit too straight: it'd do better with some detail, and a progressive thinning rather than being one straight line (I also think it's a bit too forward relative to the chest, but that might be just me). The right one is too bendy at the joint; it almost looks like there's an extra bone there at the knee. Straighten the lines a bit.
The head is too flat; there's no relief to it; the main offender is the line from the left eye to the left nostril. Try just hinting at the curve of the cheek, the shape of the skull under the skin.
Overall, though, nice job. Hit me if you've got any questions :D

Hey there, I like your drawing in general, but I have a few nitpicks. For one, the tail is a little too high. I know that some horses have their tails in an upward arch, but I know it's never that high unless... well you know. And also there is the joints and muscles. They should be a little more prominent. If you look at a horse, or a picture of a horse, you will definitely make out it's joints and ankles. ~Brook
Hello there. I adore horses, my favorite animal, and draw them a lot I love the color choice, and the pose is basic and a favorite of mine.
1) The head is too small compared to the body. A horse's head should be smaller tham the body, but only shorter than the length of the shoulders to the neck by a fraction. The head should be longer. 2) The shoulders are too small as well. Horses are powerful muscular creatures, and their shoulders should be more broad. To help with proportions, maybe you should draw circles for the head, body and hips when you start, it helps 3) Some joints in the front legs are not in the right places, and they could be more well-defined, as well as those in the back legs. 4) The stomach is a bit too long. The hair, you can find time to get into that when you are ready, but if the back sticks up like there is wind, then the tail should also, and vice versa to make it look more realistsic.
Overall, I find this piece adorable. Keep on working, you'll get better, you'll see!

Alrighty! I'm no expert, but I have been drawing long enough to voice an opinion (Not that I CAN draw!) Hm... I think it's very good, but it only needs some polishing. For instance, the neck is slightly thinner than needed and the ears are small. I'm not very sure about the ears though, I just had that impression. I think the tail needs to be smoother. Just let your pencil draw flexible lines and be courageous to let the lines be long and... You know, dancing! My favourite part in horses is their tails. The tail moves, it flies and it's flexible. You captured the movement of the legs quite well. It's very balanced, but I think the front legs are a little too thin.
That's all! I do know how hard it is to draw animals, I know! Lol. I kept practicing on horses and deers until I managed to make them look normal. Good luck. You have the talent for this.
I'm back to my YWS after months of disappearance, hoping that I'd gain the immunity of books and quills against the harmful realism of our world.
In case this made no sense, I'm just saying that I'm happy I'm back!
