Used to Death

This is kind of long, but either way, rip it to shreds. I like to correct myself.

Some descriptions: Ace: 19, blue eyes, brown, straight hair. Akira: 19, Ace's twin, pretty boy, blue eyes, brow, straight hair. Bryan: 15, blonde, straight hair, green eyes. Kidnapper: 52 years old, dark brown eyes, hair is turning a grayish color

I am someone who is used to death. My mother died when I was 14. My father committed suicide a week later. My younger brother was murdered. My twin brother, Ace, and I support each other now. We are the last members of the Sato family.

No matter how much we plead, the police will not search for our brother's murderer. It is time to take matters into our own hands.

"Ace, I found something!" I called. I was in Bryan's room. We had left it the way it had been when he died.

"Is it something of major importance that I had to stop cooking, Akira?" Ace yelled back, obviously not upset.

"Yes, yes it is," I called. "It's a note." I could hear Ace gasp, and I heard his footsteps thudding down the hallway.I re-read the note, mumbling under my breath.

I have not actually killed young Bryan. he is at my home. I will return him to you if you do as I say. Bring me $1,000. Do not report this to the police. I already know they will not listen.

Ace walked up behind me, and I handed the note up to him.

"Oh god, where are we going to get that kind of money, we don't even know if this is reliable." He said.

"There was a second note. It has an address on it. We could send a letter to the kidnapper asking him to let Bryan send us proof or at least a letter back, so we know he's really alive." I said. I handed the second note to him, and stood up, waiting for his reply.

"Let's go with that. Do you mind writing it while I finish lunch?" Ace asked. His face looked filled with sorrow.

"Sure. I'll get to work on it now. Yell for me when lunch is done." I called as I started jogging into my room. Ace finished lunch, and he called me down to the dining room. As we ate, we planned out how we were going to get a thousand dollars to send to our kidnapper and brother, if he was even alive.

"I could get a job, and try to earn some money. I think Mom and Dad left us some money in the cash jar in their bedroom as well." I spoke, trying to cheer up my brother.

"Could you go look after you're done? I'll finish up your letter, and send it off." He said quickly. We ate the rest of our food in silence, and then I went up to Mom and Dad's room to check the jar for any money. I found $999, kind of weird, huh?

"Ace, I have $999! I have a dollar in my wallet. We'll send our letter first, telling him we have the money but we want proof of him being alive." I yelled. We got the money together, and put it back in the jar, set it in the vault behind a picture in the hallway, and sent the letter to our kidnapper. A few days later, we got our reply, however it was not the reply we expected.

I cannot let him send you a letter, but I well give you a picture of him.

We looked at the picture for awhile, then flipped it over to check the date.

He was safe! I wrote another letter, included the money, and sent it. Two days later, a man knocked at our door. I was surprised to find out that he was the kidnapper. He was wearing rags, and didn't have shoes. Bryan walked up behind him, and as soon as he saw me, he ran up to me, crying, and hugged me. He had rags on as well, so I sent him inside to get some clothes. I thanked the man, grabbed my wallet, pulled the rest of my money out, and gave it to him. I heard screaming upstairs, but it wasn't from terror, it was because of joy. I closed the door gently, and ran upstairs to have a reunion with my younger brother.

"Bryan! You're alright!" Ace cried.

"Yeah, I missed both of you so much." Bryan whispered with tears in his eyes.

"How was the treatment?" I asked, not really wanting to hear it.

"Actually, he was really nice, he fed me, but I wasn't allowed to leave the room." He replied. Ace and I were totally shocked, but the past didn't matter anymore.

I am someone who is used to death. My mother died 5 years ago. My father committed suicide a week later. Ace, Bryan, and I support each other now, and life is almost completely back to normal. That is, until the day I was shot.

Okay, this was a pretty good start. I like the idea of twins trying to avenge their dead family and then finding out that one of them was actually not dead.

However, this went way to quickly and it was like there was hardly any struggle to get to the conclusion. My biggest thing with this is that there was 999 dollars already in the jar. A thousand dollars cash isn't going to fit in a jar, first of all. Having it all already be there makes it so easy and there's not much point to a kidnapping story if everything is already laid out perfectly. Another point in the plot is that we don't have hardly any background to go on with this. We need to know the details of the past in order to really feel the present. We need to know more about the kidnapper too. There's nothing about him in here other than his description. My final thing to point out regarding the plot is that if Bryan was gone, how would they know he was dead? I'm not trying to be mean, but the plot doesn't make much sense right now. Do something to fix the ending as well. Take out the part about getting shot. That was random and unneccassary.

Grammatically there were only some minor errors I found. Mostly it just consisted of some issues with entering and exiting dialogue. Nothing to major to fix.

On the names of the characters, I thought they were fine except for Bryan. In a family with names like Ace and Akira, Bryan is too out of place unless he's a foster kid.

I really don't want you to think I'm being mean. I'm just trying to help you out. I would highly recommend going through this piece again and polishing it up. Keep writing!

Cheers,

This is really good. All I say is add some more detail. What do they do when they're excited...how do they react during the wait. Other than that this is really good and I hope you write the next chapter soon. Keep up the good work and I hope to see more your work soon. Good luck and Happy Writing!!! I'll keep an eye out for more of this story!!!

Hahaha. I don't think you're being rude! I appreciate the help. :) The next little section I post will have more details. It's probably going to be why they thought Bryan was dead and his past.
