So, Rosey! Thank you for this contest!
I had so much fun creating this and thinking of things from an advert POV.

I have a preview here and the file is the actual PDF in the Attachment list.

I think as far as the info goes it was pretty eyecatching and to the point. Enough to cause a little traffic this way. ;) Which is most important. But it seems a little. . bland. It's missing a YWS logo and some character. Add that and I think this would be a successful flyer.

The info is great, though you may want to mention something about it not being solely for writers, but for artists and singer/songwriters as well (though I guess that is still literary work). I can't even imagine how epic it would look after you've added everything else. ;) Good luck!

I like the info and the layout but maybe something colourful would be nice. There's a few YWS orientated illustrations you could use or possible make/ find a graphic of something writing orientated like a pen? You'd have to check it was a free one though.

Perhaps use a different font for the do you like to write part. I think that would make it stand out more and draw attention. Oh and for the address, it's no capitals. It should be www.youngwriterssociety.com and maybe have 'literary' skills rather than 'English Writing' as that sounds a little more snazzy. And don't capitalise world. That's grammatically incorrect and makes me twitch just a little.

But other than that you're good. Good luck!

From what I see here, it looks great. But I agree with Smylin, a little more character, maybe a logo of YWS, and some more color. Other than that, the lay-out is pretty eye catching.

A little color wouldn't hurt :) And this is just me, but the opening line 'Do you like to write?' just sounds a bit uninteresting. If you could try to sound a little more excited, it would make the site seem more fun. But you've got the basic idea :)

Hey Lava, I like the second one better, personally. The first isn't anywhere near as pretty looking.

Sorry, but both are a little drab i must say and a little boring. A splash of color would be fantastic and maybe a interesting font. What is good is the presentation of information, you really have got everything down. Maybe you should put the YWS logo on or jazz it up with an more interesting pencil, maybe even a quill.

I had a hard time choosing which one was better at first it was the first one but then i realize that it was ugly. So if would have to be the second one for me!

I think the first of the second drafts looks slightly better than the other. Although, I forgot to mention last time: should "reviewed" be capitalized? It makes it seem like a really special, pivotal thing because of the capitalization. That aside, I can't wait 'til you fill in the skeletons. :)

I like the second I think. But it was a close call. ;) They're both cool.
So that's just the design for the writing part? It's going to be attached onto the whole flyer with the all the "schmazziness", as you put it? ^-^ I think the simpleness of the writing will be good for the flyer. When you walk by a flyer you want to read everything to-the-point. I think there's many different ways you could have made this flyer as far as the words go. This is just another one of those workable versions. Great work, Lava. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Nice, Pipette!

I like this a lot. The colors on the tabs at the top are nice, and the whole thing has a very YWSish feel. ^_^

I've just got a few quick critiques:

1) Too many fonts! :O It looks a little busy/messy right now, becuase the font of the YWS logo is different than the font of the doodleman, is different than the font of the "Do you like to write?" etc. I suggest you make it all more uniform and just have two fonts: the YWS logo and the rest of the text. That will make it look more tidy and professional.

2) The spacing looks a little odd. I like the doodleman a lot (he represents that quirky, odd side of YWS methinks!) but he looks a little crammed in there, while there's a lot of room on the other side of the parchment-box. I'd suggest either making the pencil take up more room or making the parchment be off-center.

3) The pencil kind of bothers me. It just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of it! It's too crisp and too pale. What if you made it be a quill instead? Then you could also have a pot of ink next to it, and that would help take up room which would help with critique 2).

Just some thoughts. It looks good, though!

The vertical words are a little hard to read, and not quite centered. Other than that, it's good! :D

Just a few more comments, looking much more finished though:

1. The top is a little too busy now. The logo's very crowded and those fonts and their vertical lines are very distracting and hard to read. Why not make them horizontal? It would frame the logo much better and you wouldn't have the trouble of vertical font use which is just weird and out of place.

2. Head to doesn't sound right to me. It sounds like it should be head on over to but that's too long so maybe simply come to or join us at?

3. I think the information is a little jumbled. It would be much more natural to have 'showcase your literary works and receive reviews' and then 'Improve your writing skills'. Love the image you've used there though and the mottled effect.

4. Those slips are kind of cool but a cutting line to the right of the pencil would make it that touch more proffessional.
