Either way, I'm glad you posted the reference and are working from sight! The best way to understand proportioning is to study in this manner. A lot of times, people just expect to be able to draw and when they come up short, they don't continue. Here is a good example of learning and taking from what others have done so that you may grow because of it.

So thats admirable and a good quality to have.

Now, accuracy wise, there are a few points that don't look 'perfect' in that manner, but I think this has a little more character than the original. The only nit-pick I'm really going to stress is the fact that his eyes are much too close together so the face, which is usually based around the eyes, appears to be a little too thin. If you spread the eyes out a bit more like the photo above, you should have a pretty good replica.

Your hands are fantastic. Nuff said about that section.

Lastly, I think I would have preferred this as a black and white with the pen and ink alone. The crayon sort of... takes away from the fine, straight lines you've got here. Its not everyday that someone can be so precise with their doodles.

Other than that, keep drawing and I'll keep reviewing!

Nice, thanks for posting the reference makes reviewing a lot easier.
All good artists start copying things, i know i did until i gained enough confidence to do why own stuff. Some helpful tips!
Draw a grid, it's not cheating ; ) really helps to get proportion right and allows you to balance the piece correctly, even now I find still life very hard. Also practice!

Plus: Generally you got everything in. The original is quite amazing, so i wouldn't be surprised if it was hard. Also computer generated images are hard to replicate so kudos to you for giving it a go. You defiantly captured the emotion properly, yours probably is even better in that sense. Good job on the hands, hands are very hard. Crosshatching is decent but need more work.

Minus: Proportion and accuracy are problems. Also the paper, I HATE LINED PAPER, yes indeed i do. I hate it with a loathing, lined paper is for doodling, you put effort into to this then why use such, frankly lined paper is ****. If you must used plain white paper. Lined paper is thin and doesn't take color well. Okay, i wills top ranting.

The angle of the face is wrong. Everything is pulled to long vertically and to short horizontally, It's hard to explain but a grid would help. Put a corresponding grid on both the original and yours, really helps.

It looks like exactly the same! OMG I could never do that. You're really talented!
