My Way of Dealing with Boredom

So, I'm an artistic person with quite a large imagination. When I get bored (like most of you) I look for things to do and usually I just end up doodling so these are two doodles (Well... doodles turned picture-ish paha) and one of them is digital. I hope you like them!



This here is Callum. Say hi, Callum! ....
I believe this to be what Callum Frey, from my story, Mirror, would look like... In anime form! vuala! Lookey, there, I CAN be creative (Sorry for the bad quality, I took the picture on my phone ^_^")

Aaand number three:

Yeah, I know. She has a big head. But hey, I don't even have a tablet! yay for me~
(Sorry the last one is so blurry... I tried resizing it cause it was too big, but it didn't work but I hope you can see it anyway! )

You mean to tell me you did that last one with no tablet? -Wow.. And what software did you use? Just curious. I recommend Bamboo tablets. They're awesome. ^-^ It's what I use in my animation class. But anyway, onto my review.

The first two are alright. I didn't quite like the picture quality, but it happens. I think that when drawing anything it's important to pay close attention to proportions. Also, the two seemed like you were going for a sort of Manga look, am I right? There's a lot of tricks to drawing in that style. Also, practice makes perfect.

As for the last picture, the one you did without a tablet, I noticed the eye looks as if it were just pasted on top of the hair. It's sort of distracting and takes away from look of the drawing. I'd re-do that eye and make the hair swoop across it rather than have it behind it.

For both, the bodies are awkwardly lanky and long in proportion. The girl looks like she should be tipped over hahaha.

Specifically, I like the face you made for "Callum." And for the girl I agree with Smylin that the eye is weirdly covering the hair. By the way, it wasn't her head that seemed big... ;p

Considering they're doodles, excellent job.

Great doodles! Like it was already said, pay close attention to proportions. I have to find good references before I start anything, or else I am LOST. x)
Sometimes I draw a dummy figure first just so that I know at least the arms and legs and such will be the right length
You're very good with expressions and creating characters. I thought the hair and the eye were drawn beautifully on the girl, and great colors. You should try coloring more of your work
But if you look at her tummy *gasp* Where are her organs? Even skinny girls must have them x) And a spine, too, she must have one of those as well.
But practice makes perfect! Keep at it! And keep posting!
