Hey, I've been a member for a little over a year now and so now I figure that I'm not a noob anymore. That's what got me thinking about funny memories of when I first joined. That's why I decided to make this topic so that everyone could share a funny or influencial memory they had after first joining.

It doesn't matter if you are new to the site right now, if you have something to post then feel free.

I got kicked out of chat the first time I ever went in for writing out the lyrics of the Star-Spangled Banner and Miley Cyrus songs. Also, when a mod told me to stop, I said: 'IT'S MY LIFE. YOU ARE NOT THE BOSS OF ME. REVOLUTION'. Plus I talked like this: ITS MY LYFE. U R NAWT DA BOS OF MEEEEE. REVOIDLUTIONS!

I was annoying.
I am nothing
but a mouthful of 'sorry's, half-hearted
apologies that roll of my tongue, smoothquick, like 'r's
or maybe like pocket candy
that's just a bit too sweet.

I was one of those people who dug up really old topics and posted on them. But only in storybooks. I wanted to be in one so bad, but all on the first few pages were full or something so my brilliant noob mind thought "I'll just go to the last page!". >.>

On the bright side, one that I joined actually started and it was the best storybook I've ever been in.

I posted all 32 chapters of my story in the 'other fiction' forum; in consecutive topics. Nate was displeased. I tried to make up for it by posting all the 10,000+ words I had in one post. I was really offended nobody reviewed it....

I OMIGOD TALKED LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!

and sometimes i talked like dis.

And my storybooking skills and habits were atrocious.

I also threw small fits when critiqued harshly. I still do, but I keep it inside and I learn from it. I got really emo sometimes, too. This was, of course, before I started talking things out with people unrelated to my problems. Notice the drop in angsty blogs? (Those all go in my journal. xP)

That about sums it up.

When I was a wee newb...I joined a storybook! I was a good girl, asking the owner to join and if I could make my character a fox...the fox, Macha, needed a human companion, which I requested in my profile. A few people asked if it could be their character, but I chose the first person who asked. Firearris. She never posted. I quit the storybook because I wasn't going to move her character around for her. xD

Now, one that is completely my fault! Not when I was a wee newb, but a few months ago...there was a YWS radio show...I called in to listen because on the site, there's too much delay. The robot lady said I could press nine to wait to be put on, or just listen to the show. Bored, I started singing Brains by Voltaire. I never pressed nine. I was put on anyway. I sang for two minutes or so before realizing I was on.

When I was a noob? Hahahahahaha! Well, the first time I went in chat I asked, "Is this YWS' chatroom?" And everyone was like, "o.0 Yeah..." xD

I never used chat speak... bUt I rEmeMber I UsEd tO tYp3 lIkE tHiS. Nate found that annoying and he PMed me telling me to stop, which was pretty embarrassing. xD Luckily, no one ever kicked me out of chat. Lol.

Also, I posted like 3 chapters of a pretty ridiculous novel. =.=

Well, for starters, I was amazed at the smilies. AMAZED. :smt118 Every time I sent a PM or something, I opened the "view more smilies" box thing and searched through them to see what new one I could use in not-so-creative ways. And I always signed my posts with this: LOVE, ULTRAVIOLET :elephant: Now I sign: loveness, ultraviolet <3

I know, I've matured a lot. =3 What's sad? The main reason I stopped using the elephant was because it was no longer on the "Smilies" list thing without opening the box and I was too lazy to type in the code. And too lazy to keep doing it in caps. And, I'm pretty sure people hated me for doing that. And I wouldn't blame them at all. xD

I remember being extremely harsh with my reviews when I first came on. I eventually got some fire from one of the people I reviewed. I stopped after that.
I don't remember much of any newbie-ishness, but I do know that my first story posted was one giant text block. XD

Oh gosh...I suddenly remembered something. XD

When I first joined, I had an image banner in my sig that was sketchy. Basically, it was the guys of McFly (remember how I used to obsess about them before Logan?) and they were all dressed up as women, from the joke of their song Transylvania being referred to as Tranny for short and...yeah, you know where it's going. I'm pretty sure the words on the picture were "Everybody's having fun to the sound of love." And it was big.

Rosey then messaged me and said something along the lines of "We don't encourage sig images because it can make the page loading time longer for some users."

That was my crazy newb time. (:

I used to visit the YWS chatroom a lot. The first time I did, I used to chat speak and people started to tell me to type properly and I was like, "Okay." And also, I used exclamation point a lot. ^_______^ Yes, as you can see I had been a very active (click the epic evidence), talkative and uber annoying newbie because everytime I popped into the chat, two or three persons would leave. >8D

And there came a time when I wanted to be Leaderboards champ 'cause I was very ambitious, and so I kept on reviewing and reviewing mostly poetry and artworks- which btw, weren't really that helpful. But in spite of all my insanely hardwork, I only got to be in the Runners Up.

I used to put smilies on my reviews but got bored of them.

P.S It took me three months just to get the "/me" in chat. As far as I can still see, I'm still annoying. xD

I was made Greeter of the Month.

(But first I applied for Greeter after having been a member for two weeks. I got rejected. Then I applied again after another two weeks.)

And I remember PMing Nate, being basically "Omg, did you notice that this-and-this on that-and-that forum used to be different? What's up with that?" and he sent me a link to the Information Desk and said "You might want to check this every now and then..."

All these stories are great!

I was one of those people who reviewed:

I really liked it. I liked your characters. I liked your plot. And I liked that part about the dog.

Bye

Then I went to the kind of review that had a bunch of quotes and nitpicks. The biggest problem was I am still horrible at grammar so I probably mislead a lot of people.

Too bad I haven't improved much. XD But I haven't even been on here for a year so I have time.

I almost forgot that just last fall I was trying to get my greeter badge. Nate had to tell me that I shouldn't give a page of information about the site. If I really wanted to help them that much I could send them to the lounge and information desk.
