I've posted a lot of traditional art in the past, inks, pencils...those latest watercolor posts. However, I noticed that very little of my digital art was ever posted online. This was due to the fact that, for a long time, my digital art was restricted to stuff that MSpaint could crank out, Well, I recently downloaded GIMP, and with it (and a lotta luck) I turned out these:

By the way, most of my brushes are from Obsidiandawn, a DA with a knack for making GIMP brushes.
If you guys want to use these images for anything at all, feel free to do so without even crediting me. most of the elements in them aren't even mine.
Just don't try to use them for commercial purposes; the original creators won't like that. ;)

The brushes are Obsidiandawn and the girl is Princess Ashe. From Final Fantasy...erm...6? Anyways, it's from the FF manga.

Same here, different color scheme. Also, I colored Ashe, since the original was grey-scale.

Wow...these are really good. But I have to say, I like the first one much better than the second - there's already so much going on in the background, the girl doesn't need the color - she even looks better with out it.

I also really really like the tree and the last one - there's just something about the last one that reminds me of my life when I was depressed and had a terrible view on life and myself (don't worry, that's changed now).

Not much a critique here as much as it is an art appreciation.

That's so cool! I wish I could do that! :3
What program do you use? I really love these. They're so vibrant and colorful and they each have a unique design. They're very unique and each have a different feel to them. I think they look great :)
Sorry I can't give a better review... I kind of suck at reviews... But I do really love these pictures :)
But there is one thing. I like the first picture of the anime person better than the second. When the girl is colored it kind of almost blends in because there's so much color in it already, where as if you left her back and white, she would stand out more.

Heya Jenthura, Gsp here again! I know you're probably sick of looking at my reviews at this point but... YOU'RE GETTING ANOTHER ONE. SO THERE.

Also, Micki, I believe he said "GIMP" in his post. It's a really nice, (if confusing) drawing program that you can get for free.

I like both of the top ones, but I agree with FF; the second one is a bit... busy if you know what I mean. Other than that, <3.

Third:

This is my second favorite. I love the colors, and it's nice and simple, not too much to take in at once. Nothing that I saw that could use changing.

Fourth:

Very nice, I love what you did with it.

Fifth:

This one is absolutely amazing. It's my favorite of all of these. The colors are beautiful, the image is great, and it's just all-around AWESOME.

You're a very gifted artist. :D Keep up the great work, and happy YWSing!

~Gsp.

fictionfanatic - Thanks! but...really? That's funny, I found the colored one to be my most favorite. I suppose there's no beating B&W, eh? ;)
Also, I'm glad you're much less depressed now! :D

Micki - Yeah, I use GIMP. It's freely downloadable here. You can find downloadable brushes like the ones I used all over th web. Some of the best are from Deviant Art, though.

Gsp - The last one is the only one here that I really think is my own, since I made every scrap of it by click, and not by copy-pasting. Sure I used somebody else's brushes, but they gave me permission, as long as I credited them. :D
Also, forget about it! I comment frequently on the Art and Photography thread, and xXBlackSheepXx already pointed out that I review his work very often.

*looks around, making sure the coast is clear. Right clicks and saves pictures to computer*

These are brilliant, I have to agree with the others that first is better than the second. Although I like both.

The 3rd and fifth ones are brilliant, but overall I love all of them. Keep doing what you do, jenth!
Help, help! I'm being repressed!

I saw the title, digital art, and had to stop by. I've never seen anything digital from you! Anyways...

I am utterly confused and ... WOWED O_O
How did you do that?! XD It's flippin gorgeous!
I will definitely have to download GIMP. I was also completely unaware that you could download brushes as well. I feel left out lol x)
When you say that not all the elements are yours, are you referring to the brushes then? I'm guessing that the girl was copied and pasted, but what about the background effects? I can hardly see any brush strokes :) Either you are amazingly flawless or you did not hand draw most of it.
I have to disagree with a few of the comments and say that I liked the colored anime girl better than the gray design. To me, the colors look realistic and even pop, whereas the uncolored one just looks flat. Only you shouldn't have colored in her eyes all the way, you lose a bit of the highlight it you see what I mean :)
The tree is gorgeous, almost looks like a Tshirt design.
Love the photo effect, even though the pic itself is a bit blurry ;)
Great job on the last one, it actually looks hand painted! Beautiful colors.

Overall, superb work. Really well done :D

lolz xD Last time I checked I was a girl. Though I might have to check again haha
The bad news is we don't have any control.

Confictura - I'm glad you liked them! :D Which one did you download? The anime one (with the colored girl) is my desktop background right now. XD

BlackSheep - Ah, shoot. Sorry about the gender confusion. XD

Anyways, it's actually very easy if you have the brushes. The whole black tree is one brush, and the lightening strokes are individual brushes. Using a scattering option let's the brushes look really cool too, something else GIMP does.
If you have any trouble at all with GIMP, be sure to PM me. I spent days surfing the web and looking for solutions to my problems, so I'm very familiar with the errors. :D
Oh, and here's a coupla brushes to start you off. Photoshop brushes are compatible with the more recent versions of GIMP, but I don't think it's vice-versa.

This is a message to all you out there. You don't have to be the fastest writer. You don't have to write 2000 words in one sitting. But if you put your mind to it and really love your project, you can and will get further along than you ever thought possible.
