Hello YWS

Hello there. I disovered this website from Stumbleupon, and I'm glad that i have stumbled upon this website. I joined yesterday, so I'm a bit late with introductions, but i guess later is better then never.

Just call me Jere. I've been writing since my first year in highschool, finally finding that one talent that I'm good at other then video games. I'm now almost done with my Softmore year in Highchool, and I've written a few stories, mostly fan fiction, but as of late, I've been hard at work on my own fiction.

The main FanFiction i do is set in the Warcraft universe, but I've also done one set in the T.V. show LOST, a story about a survivor and his meeting with the Smoke Monster (also known as the Man in Black).

Right now, i am hard at work on a story known as "The Guardians". Now, the idea of this story came to me from the friends that i hang out, and Role Play with. (call me a geek, i know) Now, instead of this being a Fan Fiction, i decided to take it a step further, and translate this to Real life. Needless to say, it's been a tiring process. Every character has been translated to a college student of the same personality, except for the main villain, and the two anti-heroes.

As of right now, i am not sure if it would fall under the category of Fantasy, or Science Fiction, so i guess when i get the guts to post it, i'll need a bit of input on that.

Now, the main reason i wanted to join this society was to both share my work with other people around the world, and to look for some help with improving my Grammar. I hope you guys can give a teenage geek a hand.

I have to admit that I don't know anything about RPG games, so I probably wouldn't be much help, but still, if you ever want a review just let me know! I love reading fantasy stories. I haven't ever watched LOST, but I've wanted to; I've heard so much about it, but people always tell me to start at the beginning or else I'll just be...lost. Har har. Anyway, what else do you like to watch? What sort of music do you listen to?

Well, i tend to watch a lot of movies, and i mean a LOT. I've gotten to that point that i rarely actually watch TV anymore, once LOST was finished, i lost interest in TV all together. Now, I am a metal head when it comes to music. I love hard rock, metal, techno...and classical, in some cases. One of the curious things that i like to listen to, is the genera music that they use in films and movies, to my knowledge is done by a group known as "Immediate Music". Now that music is what helps me write the beast, especially when it's a big war scene, or if a character is lamenting over something.

Now, i do have a question about the Points system. This isn't one of those "Pay to get points" thing right? T.T. My guess is it's all donation based, donations based on reviews and works of writing that are posted?

One last thing...i think. If i just wanted to publish a story to get critiqued, not reviewed, is there anywhere i could post it? Or should i ask someone to look it over for me?

YWS isn't pay for points, don't worry. You get points based on your reviews - the longer the review the more points you get. I think there's a maximum number of points you can get from a review (possible 50...) but it's pretty easy.

I'm not entirely sure how you make the distinction between your story being critiqued and reviewed - the two have always been a bit synonymous for me! If you want a detailed critique of your story, then why not go to Will Review for Food and find a user there that you think would give you the type of review you'd like. From there, just reply to their thread with a link and you're good.

My name is Day, but most people call me by me real name, Ben. After reading your introduction I feel that we have a lot in common. I pretty much just play video games, go to school, hang out with friends and write. Those are my only hobbies with video games taking up the majority of time. Obviously your into World of Warcraft, and although I've only played the trial. I enjoyed Forsaken World Beta, Phantasy Star Universe (years ago), The Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Dragon Age Origins and a few other single player RPGS. Have you played any of those? Currently playing League of Legends.

I take it your more of a PC gamer?

Grammar is my weak point in writing as well, and fantasy/sci-fi are my preferred genres.

Heh, i feel i should point out that i have the first part of my story known as the guardians posted on the Fantasy short story section at. topic78808.html

I would definitely like it you guys...err...girls...and guy, took a look at it. Been coming up with the idea for that for about two years now, gone three three re-writes, lost my original work when my laptop broke, another rewrite, and this is what I've got. Now this is only the first part in my story, so expect much more to follow.
