March 2011 Statistics

March 2011 has now come and gone, and the results are in: it was by far our busiest month ever. Not quite sure what happened since March is usually a slow month for YWS, but I'm not complaining. Pageviews: 925,262 (new record) Visits: 62,988 (new record) Unique Visitors: 15,906 Total Topics: 1,492 Total Posts: 13,730 Total Profile Comments: 22,210 (new record) New Members: 421 Total Literary Works: 1,191 Total Reviews: 4,107 Review to Work Ratio: 3.45 to 1 Reviews greater than 500 characters: 2,793 Reviews greater than 1000: 1,728 Total Literary Comments: 5,245 Graph of pageviews over the month: pageviews.png Guess which day was Review Day. Overall Our previous busiest month by pageviews was June 2010 with 846,292 pageviews. So not only did March beat that, but it clobbered it as well. However, June's activity quickly fell-off owing to the summer months. Will that happen this time as well? April has always been a bigger month than March, and May tends to be a month where we see sharply increased activity. But, YWS is a small community and so activity tends to be volatile. At any rate, I'm certainly hoping we continue to see the same rate of reviewing. March 2011 is only the third month ever to have more than 4,000 reviews, and the first non-January month to do so (January is always a big month for reviews). If we could continue to do that every month, that'd be awesome. On a sidenote, how interested would people be in having a YWS statistics page that everyone could access? A hero isn’t defined by winning. Loads of heroes die in the effort. Most of them never get any recognition. No, a hero is just somebody who does the right thing when it would be far, far easier to do nothing.

I love statistics and what not. I just hate it when the communities and things I use get huge the second I step foot in them. But I love my personal creations being big!
