Hey there, and welcome to Young Writers Society! My name is Heather, but your free to call me anything you want (I'm often called Arris, Arrish, Fire, etc). To get an avatar, scroll over "My YWS" tab and select "Edit Profile Settings". You should find an option there to change your avatar.

To get started posting your own writing, click the “Submit” tab. If you want to read other works or critique, go to the “Discover Works” tab and find a category that you'd like to look at. It might take awhile to learn it all, but you'll likely get used to it! ^.^ Feel free to let me know if you ever have any questions or want any critiques – I critique just about anything. Below are a few things that I suggest you look at, so that way you understand the rules of the site and you can also get any help you need.

Official YWS Rules and Guidelines – This is great to check out, so you can know the rules on the site. =]

Questions and Answers – Like the other two, this is great to check out. You can ask questions here and get help from other members, or you can help members later on. You can also look at previously asked questions. =D

The Knowledge Base – This is another great place to check out. You can see several guides and tips regarding writing, and post your own with the approval of a moderator. =]

Now that we got that out of the way, I have questions for you! (See, we are silly people here, so we often ask lots of questions to get to know you)

Where are you from? What is your favorite food? Favorite animal and color? Do you have siblings or pets?

If you're into writing, this is the place to be, because it's one of the few writing sites of it's kind with active members, and because there are so many things to do! If reading is your thing, or if you just need points (points are used for posting), be sure to click the discover works tab, and review someone's writing. If you have writing of your own, click the submit tab and put it in the appropriate genre.

those are the two main things you can do here, but there is also live chat, fun little role playing games in the community forums, serious discussion, and also contests where you can win massive amouts of points or even gift cards! thats not even the half of it, so if you ever get bored with just posting and reviewing, send me a PM and I'll be sure to suggest something you might not have found yet. also, if something of yours doesn't get reviewed, or you just want more reviews, message me and I'll happily oblige. have fun!

Um, I don't really like fast food unless you count the jalapeño poppers I eat at the local gas station...

Let's see, my favorite genre is probably romance. It's just so nice to see two characters falling head over heals in lovie gushie goodness. Or possibly historical romance. Or fantasy romance. Eeeah. *is a closet romantic*

And my favorite book is..hmm...ooh, I guess I would have to say that my favorite book is probably Pride and Prejudice.


PS: thanks for the congrats. I still am not completely sure what being a moderator is but I guess I'll find out soon enough, huh. All I'm totally certain of is that JabberHut said we have some really nice retirement perks once we hit 25 even if I am a looooong ways away from 25.
