The Seven Bloodbaths
By: Alfred Symon

I
At first, she touched my neck
Caressed it, slowly
Kissed it
After a while
I found out I’m sired
I wanted to be like them
To have fangs and to have
Immortality
I hungered and thirsted for blood
Of which our kind
Survives with us
I fed on the richest
Of the richest blood
I drowned myself in red
Treasures
I left none to others
I let the others starve
I let them die
I watched them thirst
For what I have
I killed her
The woman who sired me

II
They followed my
Every footstep
When I summon them
They attend to me
When I call them
They appear to me
When I heed them to kill
They’ll drag the bodies
In my front
And I’ll drink all blood
Leaving none
To them
I let them envy me
And the lives they got
That I ate
I lingered and wanted for more
And they died

III
I enjoyed my power, my strength
I had no god,
No belief,
No master
And no soul
I was unforgivable
Just as I want it to be
I headed to my hometown
I murdered the men
And ravaged the women
I heard screams and pains
And cries for help
But those who answered them
Are my followers
Sucking what blood I left
And I went to my father’s house
And my mother’s arms
They welcomed me
I felt I still have life in me
But soon, they begged for me
How dare them
Not to know their own son
I sucked their lives too

IV
On the fourth day
I met a girl
A lady of true beauty
But she’s human
She gave me the idea
Of change
When I went to her house
I touched her neck
Caressed it, slowly
I kissed it
I sired her
For her to be like me
But without my notice
I drank all the life
In her precious veins
She’s dried up like my
Old bone
I never saw the blue of her
Eyes again

V
As I dived in my loneliness
In a room the other’s made for me,
They devised a plan,
They destroyed my home
They killed those who are loyal to me
They stole my treasures
I was astonished
They drank all blood
I was shocked
For the treachery they have done
The treachery I had done to them
From my pedestal
Of lordliness
And glory,
In one night,
I fell

VI
I cursed them
And they laughed
They tortured me,
They spiked me with their pikes
They slashed me with their swords
They hit me with gauntlets
Covered with thorns
As my cold lifeless skin tear apart
They threw salt over it,
They threw to me vinegar
And they fed me
With poison
They smashed with steel hammers
And bound me to barbed wires
Even though I am immortal,
I felt weaker and weaker
And they saw that in me
I was gradually losing
My second life
They threw me in the foot of a mountain
Knowing I’m dead

VII
But I’m alive,
At least for
A short while
And now in my little time
To live,
I have no one to love me
I even have no god
To go to
I was perfectly alone
I wished I was back
When I ate dinner
Of potatoes and beans
With my family
When I had my own lady to talk to
When I have the trust of Lord God to
Pray to
I shall miss feeling
And loving and remembering
I shall remember
Those memories He gave me
And the time He shared to me
Which I wasted when I was alive
And now, in my grave of gravel and stones
I die

Epilogue: Change now if I were you

Wow! A poem about vampires! Who'd a thought? Anyway, I liked it. the ending was dramatic, but hey -this is dramatic poetry, non?

I liked the idea, of vampires not being the cutesy sparkly ones in pop culture, but I think the flow of the poem in general was too choppy. I'm not saying all poems need to rhyme but that having longer lines that relate to one another would create a better flow and in turn a better utterly dramatic poem. Happy Writing. :)
