For me it was the fact that in every book I read I always went "I want to change that scene," or "I could have written a better ending." Or I just wanted to write the whole story over from another POV. What about you?

I'm not actually sure. I've written for as long as I can remember. I don't remember ever thinking "hey, I think I want to write a story"... I just wrote and that was natural for me.

What keeps me writing are my characters. They would hate me (and turn my life into a bit of a living nightmare), and the only relief would be to write.

When I was younger I used to think of TV shows or movies I liked and use the same characters but make a whole new story (fanfiction, you could call it). I wasn't a huge fan of English until the eighth grade and then my perspective of it was completely changed and I decided to take my fanfiction skills and write a novel about some of my favorite characters all in one story. I look back on it now and spit on it, but we all have to start somewhere:)
From there I started writing my own stories with my own characters and after taking creative writing I realized this was more than just something I did when I was really bored, it was a hobby that I loved so much I decided to major in English (although not necessary creative writing) and I hope someday for my writing to go far.

Actually, for me I blindly discovered writing. It was something I started doing off and on around 3rd or 4th grade because I enjoyed creating characters and alternate personalities and relationships. Then it'd develop into a story somehow.
I didn't think much of it, until I came back to it a few years back. I got a lot more into books and sometimes I'd get inspired by certain ideas or thoughts that developed from reading. I started writing stories of my own and I just liked the feeling it gave me. To complete something and it be something of my own, not something from a bookshelf. I could also articulate myself through writing a lot better than I knew. Been writing - habitually - ever since.
I was never very good at school, and the only class I really enjoyed was a creative writing class I took one year in junior high. I've been writing ever since, and keep writing because I love it so dearly!
My favorite genre...I tend to like to write poetry, but my favorite fiction genre to write is fantasy! I just love fantasy, especially dragons!
Fantacy, hands down. Why? Hmmm, I like being able to do just about any thing, well and magic.
I think I started writing in 7th grade. I got up one night and literally said, I'm going to write a book, so I worked at it (still working, but one day I will finish that story). Now here I am and I have loved every moment of it.
