Hey there Neha, and welcome to Young Writers Society! My name is Heather, but your free to call me anything you want (I'm often called Arris, Arrish, Fire, etc). It sometimes takes time to get used to the site, but I bet you'll learn it all quickly! ^^ To start, if you want to post some stories or poems or whatever you've written, click the "Submit" tab, and you should be on your way! If you want to critique, you can also go to the "Discover Works" tab and look at the categories until you find something that interests you. Feel free to let me know if you ever have any questions or want any critiques – I critique just about anything. Below are a few things that I suggest you look at, so that way you understand the rules of the site and you can also get any help you need.
Questions and Answers – Like the other two, this is great to check out. You can ask questions here and get help from other members, or you can help members later on. You can also look at previously asked questions. =D
The Knowledge Base – This is another great place to check out. You can see several guides and tips regarding writing, and post your own with the approval of a moderator. =]
Now that we got that out of the way, I have questions for you! (See, we are silly people here, so we often ask lots of questions to get to know you)

Hi Neha! welcome to YWS! This site is a writer's paradise, and since there are so many things to do, I'm not surprised you're a little confused as for where to start. Basically how YWS works is that if you want to post something you've written, click on the submit tab near the top of the screen, find the appropriate genre, copy paste your writing and hit submit. if it's a novel, be sure to post one chapter at a time, and put spaces in between paragraphs so it's easy to read. however, in order to post things, you neeed to have points, and there are only three ways to get points.
people can gift them to you, though that is mainly for advanced critiques. also, don't beg for points, begging=bad. secondly, you can win a contest, which you will frequently find at the top of the list in the different genres when you are discovering works. these are fun, and sometimes even win you real money. and lastly, (this is how you will get most of your points) you can review people's works. make sure in each review you tell people what was good about what they wrote, and what they could improve upon, and don't be afraid to critisise, just do so nicely.
