My name's Priyansha and I'm an aspiring 15 year old writer from India. I've written since I was seven but I've still got a long way to go. I'm really nervous about posting my stuff here although I really want to. I'm scared that my contributions won't be that great or interesting. Also, I'm an Indian so I usually write stuff which involves being Indian. So, I'm apprehensive about whether other people will find my writing relevant.
Nonetheless, I'm going to overcome these fears and eventually submit my work. I'm looking for guidance and advice which would help me improve and evolve as a writer.

Thanks
You say you like it, but do you like it enough to 'like' it?

Welcome Priyansha. :D I wouldn't be too apprehensive about submitting your work. This is a community to help you grow as a writer. Everyone here is pretty awesome about giving honest reviews and critiques. There's no putting down others on their work. So I wouldn't be afraid of rejection. All works are appreciated.

India sounds interesting. I would post something as soon as you feel ready. But no pressure of course. Maybe you could read and review some of the other people's works on the site before posting something of your own. Just to get a feel for what everyone is about. Usually everything is pretty unique. It just depends what you enjoy writing. Play to your strengths. Write what you like to write. :)

Hope you like it here. I was also a little intimidated when I first joined. But yws is great. There's always room for newcomers. So welcome! In a week or two I guarantee you'll be a pro!
Paul is my little, evil, yellow bundle of joy.

Welcome! I know it can be scary to let other people see your work at first. Trust me, I've been there and done that. The only people who had ever seen my work before was myself, my family, and my closest friends. Showing it to people I didn't know wasn't easy. But after posting your first work you'll find it easier to post your second, and so on and so forth. Even if your work completely sucks no one is ever mean about it. There are a few people that aren't the nicest, but I've only come across two in almost a year of being on here. Not that I'm saying your work will suck. I'm referring to myself because I've posted some things on here that should have been picked apart and spat on. But they weren't.

India huh? That's awesome! I knew YWS was for everyone around the world but I've never come across anyone past Canada. Although I've never really asked. I'm excited to hear about your culture and I would definitely find your work interesting.

Good luck! If you ever need any help with anything just PM me. And I'll have to come back later and check on your first submission and give it a review.

Hi, Priyansha! I absolutely love your username. So pretty! Is it Indian? Does it have any meaning behind it?

As the others have said already, YWS is built to help you improve what you have and encourage you to write more. We're by no means a professional site. We're just a community of young aspiring writers looking for some helpful feedback. Kind of like yourself!

If you're nervous about posting, then don't post yet. Feel free to read other works here too (even leave some feedback yourself!) to help you get comfortable with posting. You'll never get over the nervous feeling, but rest assured that everyone else faces the same anxiety. The reviewers here are very nice and more than eager to read what you have.

Ooh, you're from India? We've got a few members here from India too! YWS has all kinds of different cultural backgrounds. We're quite an international web site! Englanders, Australians, Africans, French -- you'll fit right in! Especially since everyone is ridiculously nice.

So what kinds of things do you write? Poetry? Stories? If stories, then what genre? I'm a fiction writer myself who prefers fantasy, but I'm definitely not a poet! Do you have any hobbies outside of writing? You should check out the Clubs here to see if there are clubs fit for your interests. Clubs are an easy way to get to know people!

Have fun on YWS! If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to send me a PM. I'm always more than happy to help you. I'm glad to see you've already gotten to posting on the site! I'll see you around some more!

Hello Priyansha. By just reading your name i could recognize that you are from India. I am from India too. Yippee.. :smt023
Started writing from seven? That means that you have got talent stuffed inside you. I started writing two years ago. :P

As for being nervous. I can just say that everyone is nervous at the beginning but as you mold yourself in the environment then it will be just fine. And do not be afraid in posting your works. We are eager to review them. I know that it will be good. Everyone over here helps each other to improve so you should post your works as soon possible.

And if you are a poetry person then i am just a PM away. I would be always ready to review your work. And if you are a story and novel person then i am sorry but i can just read then. I am not good at stories and stuff. :P

And by the way, welcome to YWS. Enjoy your stay here and i know you will be addicted to it in no time. :smt003

Helloello Priyansha!

Welcome to YWS!

You don't have to worry about having stories set in India. There are quite a few Indians on board here. Oh wait, I forgot, I'm from India too. So, glad to have another Indian on YWS.

Since seven? That's pretty neat-o. I started writing when I was probably 12. I used to create the stories in my head until then. So, what's your favourite genre? Me, I prefer science fiction mostly. As to poetry, well, let's say I try. If you have an prose that you're putting up here, I'll try to give a critique, time permitting, that is As I have a couple of tests that are going to kill me, soon.

And, YWS will definitely help you improve as a writer. I know, it has for me.

So, what else do you like besides writing?

So, if you have any questions, or if you'd like to chat about anything under the sun, feel free to PM me.
Cheers,
Lava

hey- welcome to YWS! Don't worry, everyone is friendly here, none of us bite!
A good tip is to look at other Welcome posts, and post a comment saying "hey I'm new too- let's be friends!".
Trust me, if you do that, you'll know, like, 20 people by tomorrow! :)
