This is an essay as much as it is a story. Depending on how you guys explain what you think I'm talking about(in your reviews), will depend on if I continue writing. If you find it's to confusing, just skim and give me grammar corrections, but if you're brave, I ask for meanings and depths. Thank you. And, please like if you "enjoyed" it! :smt004

An Odyssey
Part One
The Trek Across a Flat Plane

One plane, X. Another one, Y. Y could perhaps be the X, or X the Y, but neither could be the Z. That’s where you’ve just fallen off of a cliff. Some of you hit the ground at X, some hit the ground at Y. Who’s fault is that? Not mine, not yours, but the world you live in’s.(how do i say the bold part?)

Y likes stretching. Having things slowly pull at its edges. Either until it breaks, or looks to the bigger picture. But, alas, it cannot. For, there is no Z to zoom. It could make peace with X, but only you can do that, really.

X is a thinker. It likes to wrap its mind around things. However, he sadly can’t. Not without Y that is. And, what happens when, in the event X was in equilibrium with Y, when something becomes too big to stretch yourself around? You could go over it, but that’s quite difficult when you haven’t grasped the concept of jumping. And how very hard in two dimensions!

So, meet Z, my friend. Now, when you’ve acquainted yourselves and have come to terms with the aforementioned, do press on.
----------------------------------

Again we meet. I had hoped you would follow. Albeit, it is a surprise. I wasn’t sure you were capable; considering the fact you haven’t had the previous concepts fed to you, via a spoon in my hand. Follow along carefully, now. I’ll be willing to repeat the following as much as needed.

However, do not be surprised if it is restated in a more complex way. Simplification is more accurately just the complification of an already simplified equation that boils down to the fact that, in reality the complex is already in the utmost easy to understand form.

Now, with your friend Z, you are surrounded. In front of and behind you is the plane of X, a close friend of Y. Now, I invite this friend, Y. No longer are you surrounded, on the X axis, you are now above the presence of X. Above in terms of relativity. Disembody yourself from, well, yourself. Lift above the two constricting planes. Tilt the central axes. What do you see?

Do ignore the fact that this was technically impossible. It serves as an example of a rather simple concept. In fact, it is the concept. It’s using the concept to explain the concept! How possibly impossible.

Now, invite Z. It’s lonely, if it could feel emotion. Do note that this is all personification of rather abstract elements to further communicate what is more arbitrary than the predecessor. With Z here, you are now brought into the full concept. Note the three axes. It is three dimensional. You are now within a three dimensional plane of existence. Think, and let it sink in.

It’s a confusing place in here, and I hope I can serve you well in your future travels. I will stay right beside you until the day comes when you and I must part. Anything in which you may pass, I will clean. Anything in which you may dwell upon, I will explain.

Best regards, Your Friend.

I don't know what I think. I'm so confused right now, so I'm not quite sure what to say. I like it, I really do. You let the reader draw his/her own conclusions which is awesome. I have to say that I think of X, Y, and Z as a group of friends. Without Z, X and Y would not be together. And Z is kind of like the glue to it all. And X, Y, and Z are... I have no clue, but I'm interested in it. Actually, I'm very interested in it! I have no clue what it is, but I like it. (Please don't kill me, this is a very bad review I know. Most likely I got the whole thing wrong. Gomen!)

I really like this, but like paperbackheart said I have no clue what you are talking about. But it doesn't mean that I don't feel that there is a deeper depth in the latter. because I can feel it I just can't decipher the words and get across to it. I really like it and to me you have an immense vocabulary. This is my favorite part:

Oh, Shadz. If Kafka was a mathematician, this would be a classic. With a little work, of course.

I'll start with the praise. I love how you personified the three planes, and interpreted them in an almost poetic esotericism. In fact, the beauty of this piece lies in the fact that it takes time to grasp even certain sentences and that its reading must be performed very scrupulously. It was very intriguing both as a whole and when and when looked at meticulously. There were some pretty awesome individual lines sprinkled around that I very much enjoyed, at a metaphorical perception could go in many directions. Which is good, considering you took a topic that is not easily described, and both managed to describe it and provide an underlying story behind everything. But I have some critique I would very much advise you to consider.

First of all, you forgot something. Poor old W, overshadowed by his classical dimension brethren. My tesseract (which is currently on vacation in Peru) would be ashamed. I actually do think that this could be even more magnificent if you incorporated a fourth dimension in addition to the three described here. The ideas would be even more complex, and, as that is the reason this story (if that is indeed what it should be called) succeeds, it would succeed even more. Of course, that's just my theory, and adding W would mean that this whole thing would have to be reworked. But, to be candid, I'd seriously consider it.

Expanding on the idea that the backbone of this piece is its abstractness, I think there are some places where you fail the standard which you had established early on, particularly in the second half. I think that in some instances you get overly caught up in the personification that it becomes the abrupt change in topic that confuses the reader, and not the perplexing ideas that you present. Personally, I think, to maintain the esotericism, it'd be best to instead focus more on the explaining of the three planes instead of the giving of life to them.

Well. Again, the poetry incorporated into this is its best quality, and thus I think it would be best to shift the focus onto that instead of the personification of X, Y, Z (and perhaps even W). Nonetheless, how you portrayed your ideas as is is more than admirable. Keep it up! PM me with any questions and/or comments, and, as always, keep writing.

akdsjfh you know that feeling where you start writing a scene but then you get bored with the scene so you move on and start writing a different scene and then you get bored with that scene so you move on to an entirely different WIP and then you get bored with that so you move on-
