This is a dream that takes place in a book I'm planning to write. The heroine dreams this one day, and this is what she sees. I just need to know how you felt when you read this, and has the idea been used before? Enjoy reading it.
It was midnight when she reached the river.
She stopped only to glance at her reflection in the flowing water, and the grey eyes looked dully back. She tied a ribbon on the largest branch on the nearest tree. Then she entered the forest.
The girl seemed undisturbed/unperturbed {which word fits best?} by the howling of a distant wolf, by the strong blowing of the wind, by the crimson eyes that seemed to be watching her.She walked on with no apparent direction, though every few minutes or so, she would tie another ribbon on the branches of the trees closest to her. She would always choose the largest branch.
The dream began to fade. After a few seconds of blackness, another scene formed.
It was the same girl, the same forest. She was standing in the middle of a clearing. She was holding up a large silver compass high in the air, suspended by a thread. The compass was rotating, its needle changing directions -from North West to South East, never touching South- almost hypnotizing.
The compass was starting to slow now, and when the needle finally pointed South, the compass stopped rotating completely. At that precise moment, the wind blew stronger than ever, the wolf's howl sounded even more desperate, the watching eyes brighter.
Then the girl disappeared. The silver compass fell to the ground; a thud that- with the silence that has suddenly engulfed the place- sounded deafening.
The wind stopped. The wolf was quiet.
And- perhaps most importantly- the red eyes had disappeared.

Was it okay? Anything that needs fixing or whatever? Did it make sense? Which word from the two (undisturbed/unperturbed) should I chose? Thanks for taking the time to read this!
