So I tried to focus on drawing males this week, and this was my best shot. I didn't have much time because of ACTs (for those of you who have no idea what i'm talking about, I'm envious of you).

Anyways, sorry for the lame title. I couldn't think of a good name :/

He is really cute...

I'm not sure about the mouth. It maybe looks a little off-centre...? But his eyes are awesome, and his hair is so pretty. I also like the shadowing.

Totally bishounen! Can you be bishounen and bad boy at the same time?

Hello there :)
This is really good, I love it. Now I'm not much of an artist so I don't have any constructive criticism towards this as I wouldn't know what I'd be talking about, but this is good. It's pictures like these that make me want to release my inner 'art' and draw something! haha.
Good job!

BTW: I'm one of those who haven't the slightest idea what ACTs are :p

Woah, this looks really good! I like it! Although I would have to say that his face isn't long enough, his chin needs to come down farther. But besides that, you've got a great face; eyebrows, nose, mouth and eyes are all excelent. HIs hair was almost a little too fly-away, but not so much that I would change it. His shirt is a little fuzzy; like, his face is all clear and has good description, but then you get to his shirt and it's just messy lines; again, nothing that's to serious. His shadows are GREAT (I've never been able to do shading). And his over-all appearance is just really tallented, good job!
I'm a JESUS FREAK! (but you can call me a 'Jeek' if you want :D

First of all, it's not a lame title ; )

Secondly, I agree with Dragonette on pretty much everything she said, so this isn't as much a review as it is me just letting you know that I still oogle over your artwork. : D

The only thing I spotted wasthe hair coming over his brow looks too...thin? For lack of a better word... So yeah, I would just fill it in a bit and you're golden : )
Are you a Badfish, too?

What you're doing is a great way to learn. Practice makes perfect, as the saying goes :)

I'm curious, what program are you using? Also are you using a mouse to draw?

The shading on the face is great! And I personally don't think the hair is too "fly away". If you wish to further the realistic aspect of your artwork I would suggest concentrating on the face's features and their locations. When you look at a person, you can see that their eyes are about half way down their face. Then their nose is located in the middle of the eyes and chin. And finally, the mouth is located in between the nose and chin. A way to really help sketch is to have an image to look at to compare proportions, shading, color, and whatnot as you draw. So feel free to stare at random people :)

Thanks for sharing your artwork and I hope this comment was of some help. :)

Hello there~

Man drawing now?! It's good to learn to draw both, I think, so that you don't get too engrained in certain patterns (ie. feminine ones) that would make it harder later down the path to expand :smt003

However, it is clear that it is a man!! xD This might seem a strange thing to say but I think it's quite common for people who usually draw women (ie. me) to end up with really girly men ... you don't have that at all even though he has longish hair! I applaud you just for that, no joke.

However I think there is one thing you've done that is the result of drawing females - the forehead is a bit too big. Girls' forehead tend to be drawn as larger/more pronounced than men's are. (esp in manga which you seem to have been influenced by :)) It doesn't make it look too bad with this angel, just like he is tilting his head downwards, but at other angles it might become more of a problem :)
And it's grafitti time again (Lena already explained this in words but I find pictures and annotations easier to explain with ^^")

However, the features are all in the right places in relation to each other, which is really good :)

The lines all seem to be pretty good; the mouth in particular has a good shape and shading :) I think the nose could use a bit of work though because the line on the side seems a bit too pronounced? The eyes are just -wow- and are amazingly shaded :D

I think you do need a bit more work on shading here though =/ The face is brilliant, especially on the left (very good detail in shadows under hair!! O_O) but around the edges and on the clothing it gets quite messy and almost resembles a charcoal picture.

I know you said you were busy though, so it can see why it has been shaded in this way. Still, I think maybe to spend more time on the same picture could be a good idea so that you can improve things like the shading... Which tool did you use? Because I think that was the main problem - if I squint at your picture then it quickly becomes clear that everything is in the right place and there is the right amount of darks and lights to give a more interesting effect, it's just that it needs cleaning up!

But then... if I'm correct, you would have made this prior to me reviewing your other works? So I've already mentioned to you any tips I have on colouring.... *pause*
At risk of repeating myself, I'll just say that I would recommend the use of LAYERS (*worships*), transparency lock, and ... hmm.... *tries to work out how to translate suggestions into corel/pse actions* I think reduce brush size for more precise shading? I think that would help :)

(sorry if i was a bit negative, i'm just a bit tired :))

Hey Black Sheep :)

Overall he is good but I think the main thing I would do is just take his features, his eyes, nose and mouth and just pull them up slightly. They are all just a little bit low and I know that in manga this tends to be the case but it just doesn't look right here. It just makes him look like he has a massive forehead and a tiny chin!

I think his hair is pretty good but the fringe should probably start lower down his forehead as again it doesn't look quite right.

And my last nit pick is that his shoulder seem a little broad!

But the shading on the hair is great and the way you coloured the eyes is so cool! You're very good at doing eyes!

Keep up the good work! :)
