We are not defined by the color of our skin or hair,
nor should we be judged on the clothes we choose to wear.
Everyone is different, born in different places…
and everyday there are brand new faces.
So, judging one another for such things,
is like never polishing a diamond ring.
Never giving people a chance to shine,
and sometimes never seeing what you could call “mine.”
Could have, would have, should have; all these things are in the past.
What people need to learn is that nothing ever lasts.
But keeping your mind on the present, on what is now.
That’s what matters, that’s what you can change.
The past is the past, it’s over and done.
The future is scary and unknown; no one can know the way unless they are shown.
Your best bet is to live and let live.
Remember that life is short… and sometimes a little crazy.
My advice, take a few risks… don’t be afraid to jump in.
Love the ones around you… and enjoy it while you can.

I wrote this rather quickly, so, I'm sure it's full of mistakes... but I hope ya'll like it anyways :)

Hi!

I absolutely loved this poem! I read it out loud and it flowed smoothly all the way through; there were hardly any blips.

Anyways, the first half taught a great lesson, but it barely had anything to do with the lesson in the second half. I was a little confused. Also, I think you used the ellipsis way too much:

Everyone is different, born in different places…
and everyday there are brand new faces.
So, judging one another for such things…
is like never polishing a diamond ring.

This is a beautiful piece of the poem. It's my favorite part! But I really think you could do without the dots at the ends of those two lines. They just don't work where they are.

Otherwise, I really enjoyed this and you did a terrific job on spelling, grammar, etc.!

Hi!!

I absolutely agree with this. I recently did a paper over the subject and I value this quality in a person. :) The poem was beautifully written. It made me remember a time in junior high. I wish more people were veiwed on the quaility and not the appearance. If that made sense. o.O

and life is crazy! We just got to go with the flow sometimes, but not let the flow mess up the morals.
