Since I got a lot of positive feedback on another drawing I did, I decided to try and draw something with the same style. The main complaint on the other one was that there was no shading, so I hope the gray tone adds some of that and some expression as well.

*sigh* Yet another person with vastly better artistic ability than I... :P

I think this looks pretty durn good. I haven't got a chance to check out your other picture; however, I can understand why people would want these pictures shaded.

I have two minor complaints (and this just might be my tired eyes): her left arm looks a bit shrunk and too-close to her body - unnaturally so. Also, her feet seem to be almost on top of each other. It kind of ruins the legs for me.

All in all, nice work!

Great! it's good to see you branching out! this is what being a good artist is about ( according to my school teacher).

The style is almost Alice and wonderland which I love. Her face is pretty amazing but it's her body. You must continue to make sure you get the proportion right. A little shading on the legs would be nice and the boots are a bit flat. They do not look real. Personally i hate drawing shoes and feet because I'm am very bad at it.

Great work!

Looks great! :D

I love the detail in her hair and eyes, very well done.
I think that colour would take it to a whole new level but it's up to you.

Either way keep it up, you've got talent.

For a medieval girl, she's showing a lot of skin! Also her right...may I be blunt? Her right boob sticks out way too much. It's not that it's took big, but it just doesn't match the other one. This may be because the laces curves up right under the other side, making that other one seem smaller.
Sorry for that, but I do hope I helped.
Jenth

EDIT: Also, her right arm seems flattened to the body, just as Grant said. It's a great looking drawing, though! Much better than I could have done (I fail at human proportions)

EDIT2: Hmm, I suppose I do review your work a lot.

Hiya!

Wow, you're so gooood at drawing faces!! And the lineart is really clean aswell - do you use a tablet or something? If not, I have no clue how you have so much control over a pencil.... *worships*

Her expression is adorable and the eyes are really good with the shape and face proportions overall seem to be accurate :D The head is a little big for the body but I don't know whether that's just a tendency of your style; people tend to make head:body ratios smaller than usual when drawing anyway so it's not something that really needs correcting.

*drools over hair* Seriously, it's amazing!! I love the layers and individual tendrils that are curling around her face.. it has a really nice shape and just looks awesome. *cannot find strong enough words to say how much she LOVES the hair*

Now onto overall body proportions - at a glance they look okay but her limbs are a tad short (I agree with the others about the arms in particular), and it might just be the way the dress falls but it seems like her legs start at her elbows, with how the skirt flares out so high. If you brought the flare down to about where the line of the stitching pattern starts on the edge of the skirt (does that make sense?) then it would look more natural. Lastly, her feet, of course... I can't really give you any helpful advice in writing except suggest that you look at some anatomy tutorials for feet? They are super-hard and the bane of every artist's life but practise should help you overcome the horror that is Drawing Feet.

Some advice for shading - be braver!! From what I can see of your shading it all looks to be in the right places; it's just not dark enough! Places like the underskirt and creases in clothing should have a bolder shadow - obviously don't go crazy but don't be afraid to make the shading much more noticeable, it'll improve your art :smt003

Err.... I hope you could be bothered to read through that entire essay! ^^" But you have heaps of potential and only a few little things to improve on - I can't wait to see more of your stuff! *stalks*

Looks very interesting, though I don't imagine even tavern wenches even dressed like that back in the 1400s. *snickers* Anyway...awesome job.

I have a few minor complaints, however:

1. The left arm is too close to the body.

2. The right arm's shoulder-to-elbow length isn't correct--it's too short.

3. The feet need a bit of spacing.

Otherwise I'd suggest you get an anatomy book to make sure you don't make similar mistakes and I envy your ability to do such fexcellent wrinkles. That is all.
My SPD senses are tingling.

I never saw the first one, so I will critique this one alone.

Her head is a little...inflated...compared to the rest of her body. And her arms a little short. I do like how you managed to somewhat capture the curves in a woman, and her facial features, but experiment a little. Try a different pose, a different emotion. Here, she just looks uncomfortable and awkward. I do like the shading, though. It's a start of something better.

I'll tell you the same I tell everyone else about drawing people. Take a separate sketch pad and go sit somewhere public, and watch the people you see. Sketch various aspects you see about those who catch your eye - how they stand, their expressions, their general dimensions and body form. But keep a wide choice; draw different types - male, female, young, old, petite, muscular, anorexic, overweight, in the middle... These sketches don't have to be the best you have to offer; the entire purpose of these is reference sheets. When you start drawing your serious portraits, refer to the sketches from your day out observing. This, practice, and time will reveal improvements.

Good luck, and great start!!!

Hey,
This is really good. But... because there is alsways a but... this doesn't really fit the timeframe you stuck it in. In Midevil times, girls did not wear such boots, and it was thought improper for girls to even show there ankles in public. Another thing, is (which, correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to happen often with you) that she is missing both her knees, and most of her left arm. Otherwise this is a very nice drawing. Great job!

Since I liked what I've seen from you so far, I decided to do a little digging through your folder and find more. Hope that's okay! :D And I really like this a lot! She reminds me of a gypsy girl. Well, you know how I do things 'round the art (;

The hair is very precise and wonderfully drawn, it looks great! And the shape of the face is perfectly in proportion. The one teensy-tiny little thing I think could but a little better is that I don't feel like the mouth and the eyes are from the same expression. Like they're from two different emotions almost, if that makes any sense. Or maybe it's just the right eyebrow (the drawing's right, not the character's right) that makes it a little off. Not that much of a biggie, though, the face is great, and the eyes are beautiful!

I love love LOVE her dress! (oh man, now I sound like my mom, lol). The fringes around the waist and neckline look great, I love the belt, and the pattern on the skirt looks great too :D (Lord, what's happening to me! You're a man, SOCKS, you like XBOX and comics and combat boots and fire! lmao). Anyway, it's a great drawing, good job.

Like had been said, her left arm looks kind of skimpy and small. If it were fleshed out (please forgive the pun) a bit more, this would be as best as it could be. Other than that, great work! :D

Would you kindly?

Hey, xX...I can see why the main complaint in the previous one was shading. People are looking for shadings, huh? I don't understand why anyway. I like this one as it is. It's simple. But if you would like some tips on shadings, you can put shadings by straight lines to darken the dark parts, or crisscross lines, or even by smudging the lead with the tip of your fingers. Anyhow, this was still OK without the shadings.

The problem here would probably be the proportions of the body. The arms were too short. Elbows should be just above the waist. The left arms looks twisted as if it's painful or something. Another thing is the behind part of the skirt. It looks a bit awkward. Try not to put too much space just because you wanted it to be apparent.

But all in all. I like this! So keep drawing! =) I hope I've helped.

Hey, I noticed this has alot of comments on it, but I just have to have my say about it. I absolutely love this, you used a lot of detailing and there's no smudges whatsoever. What program did you use? Well I can't call this an proper review, but I'll quote the earlier people about the latter breast, ^^ It looks a bit mislocated in comparison to the other one. Don't worry though, I've had the exact same issue on my drawings, can't say it's easy. Very cool drawing, not much more to say about it.

Keep up the epic work!
