How did you find the Young Writers Society?

I was just looking for writing sites and I came across this one in google ! !

I had actually googled young writers society without knowing there was actually such a society !

My friend told me to check it out, so I did. Now I'm addicted. See what you crazies do to an innocent, spirited, young writer? You people, tsk tsk. I'm so happy I joined; now I'm amongst people who understand me! I am no longer the freaky outsider! Thank you!!

This was the third or so link that I clicked on.

In 10 minutes I will post my first, last and only post on YWS. I'll tell you then.

Just surfing the web

I needed a forum to stay on for good... And since I loved fantasy-writing, and after checking around, I thought YWS was the best for me =P And well, I guess it indeed is a great place!

I used to be on TYWC, and I think someone posted a link to this site on the Chatwall. So I joined, was lazy, got banned for inactivity, and now I'm back ^.^

I've found this topic, so I have to post on it...

I've found it, I've found the place where I found about this site, so you'll have to stick until I finish! Eh eh eh...

I wanted to be a writer since I started writing my first stories. There were these short stories we had to write in school at Fridays that were called free theme so I quickly understood I could write them my entire life. The only problem was they had to fit to a little piece of A5 paper. Life was very hard those days! Still it has nothing related to where I found YWS.

It was only, exactly a week ago. I had recently found this site about Pokemon. It's called http://www.psypokes.com

Serebii is a lovely pokemon site, believe me, but I knew it was scarce in one amazing, essential thing for players: Walkthroughs. So the moment I needed to help a friend of mine clearing a game I borrowed him, I googled the Pokemon version walkthrough and somehow I found Psypoke, though it wasn't the first one that appeared.

It was a boring afternoon. After knowing everything I needed and didn't need to know about the games and the site, I tried first the chat (which needed an app to be downloaded) and then the forums. At the forums I was curious about Canalave Library and headed to the first topic: Writing Tips.

It was the first time I was reading about writing since I readed the 20 PRACTICAL TIPS ON CREATIVE WRITING AND BECOMING A WRITER by P. B. Kerr, the author of the Children Of The Lamp Trilogy. After that I never trusted anyone at the point I would accept her teaching me how to write. I liked to heard writers talking about their experience in writing but they never mentioned how to write in their interviews. It's not the same thing!

So, I read the first post, then the second, and in the third I found this.

Okay, I just found out I did'nt read even half of what was posted before and after. I can just say the name pointed out... I thought, "What? Is there something with this name? I have to check it out!". But what surprised me was the fact that there was a place in the internet specialised in writing tips.

So, I clicked the link and guess where I went to... Snoink's Five Tips for Writing Convincing Characters. It was awesome! I had never read something similar. It seemed too long for me, though. So I started jumping the text... until I found this huge space.

Quick! Think of your story for a second and for every important character you have, think of five main flaws! Write them down and then come back...









It's harder than it sounds, isn't it?

I didn't really had a story, so this left me desperate. The punchline was fabulous.

Few moments after, I don't know why, I was hitting the Log In | Register. I was even more amazed I saw this amazing panel sliding down. I loved it! It was intuitive: I had to register.

The following days were an epiphany (I mean it in a figurative sense) and I was so excited I didn't know what to do.
Then I found The Buddy System and lived happily ever after.

(Oh I can't believe it ends like this, I had so much more to tell...!)

I did a google search for young writers forums! I have just recently started trying to find/participate in essay/short story contests and am just looking for a community where information is swarming. This looks like the place! Glad I found it!

My cousin told me about it :B
