So if your like Lauren and don't like blood, I just warned you. I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 2:

"$h*t!" Josh cried. "What do we do now?"
I picked up the unconscious teacher from the floor, while Mortimer cleared her red mahogany desk from picture frames, books, and papers. I gently layed her on top of the table, fixated at her closed eyes, her long eyelashes patted under her eyes. Her lips were slightly parted and a beauty mark sat on the side of her mouth.
Josh pulled her long legs to her side, while Mortimer leaned closer to her.

He gently touched the side of her neck. "What is that?"
I leaned toward her too, to get a closer look.
"It seems..." I began.

"She's a.. oh no." Mortimer frowned.

"What? She's a what?" Josh asked coming closer to her neck.

"How should we tell her?" I asked.

"We shouldn't. She'll find out on her own. We can't stop it from happening." He explained.

"What! What shouldn't we tell her?"

"See that?" I pointed to her neck.

"Yeah... its a birthmark, of a bat."

"Don't you know what that means? She's going to be bitten. We don't know when. But she will."

"Ya'll are weird." Josh muttered. "I'm gonna get some water, to wake her up."
He walked out of the room and came back only seconds later with a bucket of water.

"Maybe we should do this on the floor." he suggested.
I lifted her back up and put her on the marble floors. Josh slowely tilted the bucket and water came splurting out.

She sat up and spit out water.
"Uck! Oh, my! I am so sorry, that was so rude of me. I have Hematophobia, I am absolutly terrified of blood."
I chuckled under my breath as Mortimer helped her up.
Oh, the irony...

"Sorry about your dress." Mortimer commented, as she wiped water off her mascara stained face with a tissue.

"Its fine." she excused him, water dripping down her chin.

"So, you wouldn't happen to know why Janette was in the trunk of your car?" Mortimer asked.

"No, I have absolutly know idea."

"Thank you ma'am. Have a nice day." Mortimer said goodbye and we walked out.
Josh and I waited in the van as Mortimer stopped Lauren as she came down the stairs of the building moments later.
"Ms. Wright, please be careful. I want you to watch out for anything suspicious. If anything happens to you, give me a call." he handed her a piece of paper. They talked some more, until he took her books from her and walked to the van.
He dumped the books in the trunk and got into the drivers seat.

"I'm doing her a favor, I asked if I could return the books for her, since she has to walk four blocks to the library in those heels, then go two blocks back to her apartment to call her boyfriend and apoligize for her absence."

"How did you know that she wasn't gonna call a taxi."
Mortimer turned to Josh and muttered.

"I read her mind."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I rang the doorbell of his house.
I straightened up before he answered the door, pulling up the top of my red, Saks Fifthe Avenue dress, while at the same time, pulling down the hem that ending just below my knees. I pulled and tugged until I realized that it wasn't gonna work, when Brandon opened the door.
"Good evening." I smiled. He kissed my nose and gave me a sly grin.
"Come on in, Lauren. You look amazing, as always."
An hour later, I sat on the counter of his kitchen.
"So who were those men that talked to you yesterday?" Brandon asked, after I told him why I missed dinner with him the night before.
"I really don't know, I didn't even realize to ask who they were, I don't even know their names, how strange is all of this?"
"Very," he said, and drove a forkfull of salad into my mouth.
"Yum!" I moaned. "What is this again?"
"Caramelized Pancetta and Fennel Salad." he answered.
"You are most possibly the greatest chef in Los Angeles! Maybe even the world!" I giggled, leaning down to give him a soft peck on the lips. But he didn't think that was my intention.
He held my face and kissed me properly.
He lifted me off the countertop and walked me to his warm bedroom.
He set me down on his metal bed and layed over me, continuing to kiss me. He bend his head down, tugging the strap of my dress, revealing my birthmark on my neck. His soft lips caressed it, as his hand tugged down the other strap.
Suddenly, I felt sharp teeth graze over my neck.
"Hey, hey, hey!" I pushed him off of me, pulling my straps back up. "I have only known you for two months!"
"Two months is enough!" Brandon argued, as he followed me out the room.
"I'm sorry, your a great guy, but its not gonna work if-"
"If what?" Brandon cut me off, as I picked up my purse from the coffee table in the middle of the living room.
"I'm sorry, I gotta go." I opened the door and rushed out.
"Let me drive you home, how are you gonna walk three blocks in those shoes?" he yelled after me, but I ignored him and walked down the street.
As I came up Melrose, I noticed footsteps echoing her own. It first I shrugged it off as some drunk homeless, but it was Los Angeles, were there was crime. It was only eleven o'clock, the time when most shadows come out of the dark. I noticed druggies sitting at the side of the street stare at me as I removed my high heels and walked faster, with the black heels in my hands.
A shiver of fright crept up my spine as I realized the footsteps pick up speed and draw nearer.
Just one more block. I kept saying to myself. Just one more block.
I felt the dirt from the sidewalk stick to my bare feet.
I turned my head to see who could possibly be following me, just to find a tall hooded man only a few yards away.
I hit the ground running. I past by DC and Ed Hardy, I just kept running, but the footsteps continued to follow.
I figured that I would have a head start from the man behind me, for I had taken track in middle and high school. I never lost a race. But turns out, he was even faster.
As I turned the corner down North Orlando, I only had to run by two apartments to get to mine.
I noticed a shadow in the second story of my apartment and slowed down, I opened my mouth to yell,
but that was as far as I got.
I never noticed the man pick up speed. I felt a hand wrap around my waist and another cover my mouth.
"Hello, Lauren." she heard a husky voice whisper in he ear.
The sound of my name, made me stiffen.
"Brandon! What are you doing?" I muttered, angrily. But the only sound that came out was a muffled noise.
"Shhh, just relax. This will only hurt a little." he chuckled.
I lifted up my foot and kicked him between his legs as hard as I could.
He cursed loudly as I began to run again.
But I couldn't get far.
I felt him push me down to the grassy verge along the sidewalk.
"What the hell are you doing!" I hissed.
"Stay still!" he growled back.
He bent his head over, I thought that he was kissing my birthmark again.
What is up with this guys obsetion with my birthmark?
But that was when I felt two knifes slash into my throat. I cried out in pain.
I felt warm liquid seep down my shoulder, when I remembered the man's warning.
...please be careful. I want you to watch out for anything suspicious. If anything happens to you, give me a call...
I felt strange pleasure as I felt Brandon sucking out the warm liquid from my thoat. I turned my head to see my purse only a foot away from my arm. I reached out and unziped my black Couch purse. Having a good memory, I took out my blackberry and dialed the number, that I memorize by heart.
I clicked send.
While it rang, I felt a sharp pain in my throat arise.
"Hello?" I heard the man's familiar voice say.
Brandon didn't bother to pull back he simply took my arm and bent it over,
making a horrible cracking sound, as he kicked the phone away. I screamed in agony and I felt a jolt of pain sear my arm.
"Dammit!" the man yelled. Then the phone hung up.
The pain spread through my arms and down my torso, I began screaming, as all of my energy drained away.
I closed my eyes and continued to scream. I suddenely felt the undeniable pleasure go away, as his body was lifted off of mine. I opened my eyed to see the one of the men from yesterday kick and punch him. I continued to scream as the pain overtook me whole, and spread to my whole body.
Brandan fell down, as the man who helped me pick up my books when I dropped them at his feet, lifted me up into his arms. I felt tears came to my eyes as I realized that I couldn't feel my body.
I continued to scream as I was put into the backseat of a van.
I continued to scream as I slowly drifted away.
