Spoiler
I wrote this fairly recently, about a week or two ago. The inspiration for this poem comes from the "ups and downs" of a current relationship I'm in. However, I'm happy to report that I'm now back on better terms with this person, and we're doing better than ever!
It’s always the same thing.
You’re right,
And I’m wrong.
Just constantly wrapped up,
In this perish song.
Make way, now.
As persistence once again makes its grand entrance;
Roll out this already worn-down black carpet.
Now, take my hand.
And let us escort in misery.
Let us walk,
Until we reach the supposedly “precise” edge of Cupid’s arrow;
Because lately,
I’ve become so familiar to the view below.
I long for an escape,
As it beckons and taunts me so;
A relief from a thousand pains,
Is but a simple sway away…
And yet,
You’re still here;
Saving me in the nick of time,
And catching me where I don’t want you.
Looking at me,
Piercing my soul with your sorrowful stare;
Your words say “I love you”,
But I can still see the venom in the air.
It’s always the same thing.
You’re right…I’m wrong…
And I’m just about to go deaf,
From this perish song.
