with time dripping from her eyes;
those words, I've never heard her say
or thought to recognize;
memories of love I couldn't see
and beauty without a face,
Jane lost her crown, and without a sound
let silence take her place.
So Jack and Jill went up the hill
to fetch a pail of water;
Jack fell down, his nose in the ground
and Jill came running after,
but there's an absence of truth,
an absence of love, and
for love, I cried out loud
for a glimpse of light from the morning sun,
pierced through thunder clouds.
Spoiler
Anyone who can figure out the significance of the title is awesome :P The poem itself is just about my grandmother (Jane) and how she passed away. Jack is my grandfather, and Jill is his girlfriend who I believed to be my grandma for the longest time (while I understood that Jane was gone, I never put two and two together and realized that Jill and I technically are not related by blood). Considering it's a more personal meaning, I wouldn't expect any of you to guess it :P And of course, suggestions/CC is still welcome.
