Thanks!
Still, I’ll never forget the way my brain was shouting one thing.
“He’s ugly.”
No. I think I remember it being something along the lines of ‘Oh my God.’
“I mean really. People like him shouldn’t be allowed out in daylight.”
I peered up from my lunch of cheese and crackers, I’ve got a thing for cheese at the moment,
Eric from French class. Pete from English class. So why, all of a sudden, am I crushing on Sonny? The same Sonny who is my sister’s best friend and total rocker bad boy.
“Hey Harriet.”
I spun around to see a guy dressed in a white polo shirt and jeans smiling down at me. I smiled back when inside all my brain was telling me to do was run away.
“Hey Brandon.”
His smile grew at my response. “You heading to French in a bit?”
“I mean, it did hurt, but it wasn’t the worst pain ever,” Cassie said, staring down at her stomach before looking back up at me. “Remember when I fell down the steps in the park and hit my funny bone on the metal railing? That was the worst pain ever.”
Cassie is the queen of stubborn land.
The wall opposite me and Cassie was blank, but the wall adjacent was covered in posters and prints of paintings.
Cassie is the queen of stubborn land. I’m sure it comes with being an only child; she’s used to getting what she wants, when she wants. It doesn’t usually bother me, I can wear her down sometimes, but when it comes to getting something like her belly button done, I just wish she’d think things through a little more. I’ll be the one getting an ear ache when she’s complaining about it being infected or her mum having found out about it.
Now, as silly as all this sounds, this is actually standard Cassie behaviour. She’s pulled this stunt on me hundreds of times before, when I’m not up for doing something or don’t agree with her. It’s just another branch on the tree of Cassie’s stubbornness.
“You want me to go alone?” Cassie looked scandalised; her arms folded tightly over her blouse and her blue eyes wide open.
The secretary got up from behind her desk and headed for the corridor leading off of the room we were in, and I realised her outfit was completed with a pair of black skinny jeans and blue daps.
