It's A Girl

The idea behind this was a 'transformation from girl to woman' thing. It's supposed to look like she's shedding the baby-pink ribbons and growing up. I don't know if I achieved that kind of emotion, but I'm pretty satisfied with the coloring.
The bad news is we don't have any control.
The good news is we can't make any mistakes.

her front arm is a little awkwardly positioned, but that's pretty much all that I can critique! You did a good job with the rest of her, maybe a little to much hair. Good lines and coloring.

sadly, at least from my eyes, it doen't look like she's shedding the ribbon, it looks like she's holding on to it.
good shading too.

Hey BlackSheep! This drawing is pretty good. What I think you did best is the shading and coloring the hair, both are pretty well done. My critiques for you are mostly based on anatomy, which got a bit wonky in this drawing.

1. The female body is shaped like an hour glass. The shoulders and upper body are the same width as the hips (generally). In your drawing she seems just a tad bit bulky on top, but not too bad.

2. Her hands. Oh lord, hands are the most annoying things in the world to draw. The hand in front of the girl's body looks like a claw instead of rested. The hand in the hair looks as if it isn't there, I don't know what exactly it's doing.

3. Generally, artists drawing in this style would not add the lines on either side of the nose. Since you're so gifted with shading, try using some shading instead of the lines; just to make it more professional looking. Her lips, also, are lopsided.

My advice for you would be: Reference! Use a picture of a person in a pose that you want to draw. This is extremely helpful because it will teach you how the muscles of the body look and work together. Despite some errors, this is a lovely piece. I love the concept, it's something I can relate to! The arms look really well done, and the coloring is also really pleasing to the eye.

Hope I helped!

Hey, Pervy here to the rescue! (review, to be precise)

You did an excellent job on the hair and especially the eyes! The detail and shading is...epic. You made the backround good and simple, and the colouring is pretty much flawless. Now, onto the figure itself.

-Her right hand is pretty large, i'd guess it'd belong to a guy. Girls have quite small and nimple fingers, and not so rough edges and features on them. There aren't really fingernails, and it looks more like a hand with huge claws, ready to shred meat :). (<-just to add a tad of comedy, it isn't that bad.)

-Her left hand is good, but her hand looks slightly mutilated. The hair should flow between her fingers, in this the hair flows through some, but the rest of the hand appears on the other side; fingers popping out everywhere =))

-As the previous reviewer said, the "noseline" should not be included. It looks a bit silly, and it would look better without it.

-Her mouth begins from nowhere; I suggest you add the small section to the other side of lips.

That was all the nitpicking I could find, hope I don't sound too critical, this is great! She's beautiful ;)

Sincerely,
The Perverted Iguana~

No, no, no. I like it, I seriously do. I can sense the meaning you meant to put in the picture once you described it, so good job.

I feel as if... I really like this drawing :P

Anyways, with my pervert comment out of they way, lets get started.

LauRux is very right on the fact the nose isn't really correct. The lines do not work well.

Her hair is weird. I know that some of it is lifted up, but the physics aren't working quite right. Either that or she has a really bad haircut :p

Good job. I really like this, and I do NOT mean that in a perverted way.

OKay, so here are my scribbles to start off with :)

I think this is the best thing I have seen from you so far :smt003 Her proportions are really good in both the face and body, and her arms are really good! Also, the shading is just amaaazing and I love it to bits! You have a really good eye for how the light should be hitting her and how skin reflects light.

Hair, obviously, is awesome, but I think you got maybe a bit carried away...??? I can see how you wanted to have her hand running through her hair but even considering that there is too much of it ^^" If you work from the point that the eyes are in the middle of the space between the top of the head and the chin, then you will see that she has sooooo much hair xD
Aside from that her hair is GORGEOUS (the shading! the seperate strands!the flowyness! *_* ) and I would quite like to swap it for mine.

I think the other problem is just with the hands; although the arms are really well positioned her hand does resemble a claw =/ I think that if you were to turn it towards her then the gesture would look softer and it would also help to carry across the 'shedding ribbons' idea :) Sometimes it's helpful to put yourself in the position you want to draw; this way you can tell if it's
a) physically possible
b) natural
and you can also look in a mirror to help if it's hard to visualise. All of that might have sounded really obvious to you, but I don't know if you do it already and it is something that I find very helpful when something looks awkward on the page (obviously if it is some kind of action pose then this method falls down because i'm too lazy to jump around =/)

I agree with others about the nose but I think the rest of the face looks really good (I disagree with whoever said about the mouth looking weird >/) and the eyes and eyebrows are particularly good :D

Overall there is very little for you to improve in this picture!! I think just maybe spend a while practising hands to get more used to their angles and shape and difficult things (like running through hair!) because that is the only significant thing that could make this any better :smt003
