First things first, I'm generally rubbish at any form of introduction. Right that's out of the way and so I shall introduce myself and keep it as short as I possibly can.

My names Anthony and I'm from the North West of the brilliantly sunny Britain and tend to discover common ground in terms of interests by stating anything but writing as I know not one bloke or girl that has any form of interesting writing. But in terms of me I'm the kind of bloke who love me Tarantino Films and tend to find lower budgeted films a lot more interesting. Granted I don't just sit inside mind! Also one small detail would be that I am 18 years old, thus making me wounder whether joining the site now wasn't the greatest idea?! Help, anybody who is older than me to reassure me?!

I was told about this site a while a back now and for the life of me I've only just really remembered the thing! But I intend to use this site to upload (though might not be too often) the first draft of bits and bob I have been writing, more so the stuff that is a few years old now just to generally get feedback on certain aspects such as writing style, character development and dialogue. Oh, a word of warning I'm not the greatest with grammar (I think I have the basics down but not much else).

As for my 'writing background' as my mum told me a few months ago that I set out to write a children's book when I was eight and remember doing bits of it but I no longer obtain it so who knows where it went!? After that I wrote a Non-Fiction book, albeit not very accurately I assume when I was 11 and then stopped for a few years before picking up the pen once more when I became thirteen and thus one year later I get a great idea that excited me (and still does) and four years worth of planning and numerous other projects that lie in need of fleshing out here I am! :D

Hi, Anthony!

I'm Rach, another older member. Here to say, welcome! And, don't worry about age.

Also, I love how your dialect comes through in this welcome post. It's hecka awesome, dude. (Just returning the favor.)

Anyway, this is a great site for improving one's writing, or for just hanging out with people with similar interests. And procrastinating.

For some grammar hints, check out the Grammar and Research Tutorials in the Writing Tutorials board in the community forums! They can be helpful, depending.

And.... welcome! I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have, or refer you to someone who can answer the question if you can't, etc., etc.

Hey Anthony!

Welcome to YWS! I'm Lauren, and I'm an older member too (18). Don't worry about age at all, you'll fit in no matter what age you are. In fact, I couldn't tell you the ages of half the members I talk to often on here. Age is but a number. ;)

You'll find a ton of people here who would love to chat about writing related things, as well as just about everything else there is to chat about. That's great that you've been writing so much! When I joined I had barely started writing. Either way, you'll find this site to be just what you need it to be.

So what sort of stuff do you like to write? Fiction? Nonfiction? Poetry? What genre? I'm a fantasy girl myself, I just love it, but I love to read all sorts of stuff. :)

Hope you enjoy YWS! Welcome again!

-Lauren-

Ta very much for both your replies RachaelElg and Lauren2010 and ensuring me that the 'young' part of the title still counts!

First things first. Ta for the dialect comment RacaelElg, although I don't mean to do it it seems I do... though that might be a good thing (Is it a good thing?). Occasionally it goes a bit far when I re-read through work I notice that I've put 'me' instead of 'my' as I do say that (among other things mind!), but I guess in a forum it isn't too bad a thing to happen.:D

Also, I'll be visiting, probably a fair few times, the grammar section as I definitely do need to be brushing up in that department!

Lauren2010 I've probably dug myself a great hole to which I will probably regret; that I've always been writing in some respect... now I've no doubt set my standards higher in terms of you reading the stuff I write (or wrote)! But as for what I do write. I write fiction (fantasy bloke myself) of course apart from the one non-fiction book I wrote in my final year of Primary School. As for poetry mind I haven't tried to write it for a few years, why? Because it ends up stretching to quite a lengthy word count! Just to point this out, I have never actually finished anything I've started so far though I hope the book I've been writing for the past few years will change that.

Ending on that note I will finally finish by saying I will read generally anything apart from Romance or Twilight! :smt003
