Rated for nudity. :P Just some sketches of things that I decided to post on here. Um, commentary located beneath each. Awethome.

Image

A mermaid. Um, a sketch I did a while back just on a random whim. I was in a very mermaid-ey mood for those couple of weeks before the Christmas break, so this happened. Yeah.

Image

Random thought that came to mind when I should have been studying for my semester tests before the break. I realize the woman's foot is jacked up. When I went back and inked this, my lines got a little funky. *shrug*

Image

A more recent sketch done on (sigh) tracing paper. I ran out of sketch paper. Go figure. This was just one of many discarded ideas for a piece to enter in this art competition coming up. Oh, and if there are any issues with the nudity thing, please let me know. I don't want to offend anyone on this sight, so heck I'll take 'em down if I must. It's not life or death or anything. ^^' Hee hee
Well, yeah. I felt like submitting something instead of review--I MEAN!! Because I love to post...things. Heh.

These are really good, I like the mermaid one the best :)
-A very bad review, I know.
A hero isn’t defined by winning. Loads of heroes die in the effort. Most of them never get any recognition. No, a hero is just somebody who does the right thing when it would be far, far easier to do nothing.

Hello there. :)

Well, these are pretty good!

1. I love this one, especially the flower. I think it's a nice touch. :)
2. I love the second one too, although I think the swirly on top doesn't do much for the drawing. Also, the feet looks a little bit weird, as you mentioned, but I wouldn't have realized it you haven't mentioned it.
3. This one looks great again... I have a problem with the eye though. It look weird? I don't know if it's because of the pupil, or just because the eye lid is hanging low, but it doesn't look right.

Wow, not a great review, but it's really great. :)

Yeah, those swirlies. <--product of total boredom in Algebra II. ^^'

You are a very talented artist. I really like the first and second picture, especally the second. Your shading is just absolutely lovely. For the third picture, I just find something odd about the porportions of the head and body. The body seems a bit large for her head. That may just be be though... I really enjoyed this and your Bears, Centaurs post too. After looking at this post, I immediately looked on your profile to see if you had posted any other art work. Keep up being talented!

Yes, yes. What crescent said. You are very good. I like them all, especially the mermaid. Can't wait to see more!
I have loved the words and I have hated them. I only hope I have made them right.

First of all: You have beautiful lines. You draw how I want to be able to draw. You have a very delicate style, the style that is perfect for drawing fantasy and things like well, what you've drawn. Okay. Onto the actual review now :)

The mermaid: The tail seems a bit too flippy to me. I don't think it would be as stiff as you've made it appear, especially in the second half. It seems like it would be almost fluid-like. And, even if it wasn't, I think it might be good to represent it that way, in order to increase the correlation of water with the mermaid. You've captured exactly what I mean with the third section of the tail, the fin, but I would try softening up that middle section as well.
Excellent otherwise- really fantastic job.

Second one:
Another excellent one. The little swirly-thingies at the top left corner kind of detract from this though. Instead of doing that, I kind of wish that you'd done more scene setting, like, a room with a vanity mirror and drapes and... all that nonsense. :)
I think that the face and the feet could both use some work, though I read that this was done in ink. >.<
Other than that, excellent. Your shading (especially in the hair) is simply perfect and looks professional. The lines (exhibited wonderfully in the dress and elbow) are done really well too. Great job! :)

Last one:
This one didn't work as well for me. Her head seems really big, and the character seems almost bored. Also the antlers (?) felt a little small to me. The face is done really well though, and I think with some work, this could be a great drawing as well.

Overall: excellent. :)

Let me guess, by 'inking' you mean you do it first in pencil, ink over and then use an eraser, right? No? Whatever.

You did quite well, most noticeably the human (or mermaid) anatomy you've managed to get right (I never get it right). I wanna ask a question though, is it supposed to be brown-tinted? Was that editing or just some slip-up of the scanner along the way? I know that my own scanner tends to give white shadows a pink tinge.
Anyways, that aside, I must say that the first was my favorite (mostly because it's still pencil...it is, right?) and that my least favorite was the rabbit one. I didn't like it because of those swirls in the corner, but also because I couldn't figure out how the heck the rabbit was holding those strings. Rabbits do not possess posable thumbs. :D

Amazingly done.

Yes, Jenthura, you'd be correct in that guess. I do a lot of doodling and speed practice in pen--it keeps me from getting too obsessive about lines--but none of which I would ever allow the kind people of YWS to see^^' It's all either too creepy or too embarrassing, so yeah...to make a short story long, the rabbit was pencil first.

Actually, the brown tint is a little of both. The sketch paper the mermaid was done on had a slightly tanned tint, and my scanner picked that up. I liked the effect the non-white color had on the style of the drawing, so to make it look a little more artsy and less time-waster-ey, I tweaked the saturation a bit. :]
