Mom's flowers/ plants.

Grrrrr. You know what I want to do. I just want to print these shots, and slap you with them. They could be such great shots, but you failed on the golden rules of photography. Grrrr.

Photo 1: Cut off the car in the left side. It shows in no way, the beauty of nature, and makes this shot really bad. Also, there is a slight tilt, that throws the image into a weird state.

Photo 2:Oh lord. Why is there a blurry... whatever that green thing is... right in front of the lense? That really is what screwed up this shot. Also, what is that blue thing? Whatever it is, it is also a bad addition to the shot.

Photo 3: God. This is your best shot with the oddest mistakes. Why are there dead plant leave right in front of the lense? Also, personal opinion, I think the rocks should be the in-focus part of the shot. I just think that would look cool .

These remind me of summer, and gardening with my mom. Anyway, the problems I see are that a) you have too much clutter, and b) it's out of focus.

I think you intended these to be more as practice (and a new camera? Yay! I want a camera.... sigh.) so I'm not going to go too in depth, but for the most part I agree with what Unleashed said. For example, in the first one your flowers are well placed and I like the contrast, but there's a car door in the background and in general the whole thing is distracting. Try playing with the aperature settings a bit to change the depth of focus. (Macro is also cool if your camera has it)

In the second your perspective is really cool, and I love pictures like this. Once I took about a hundred shots up a tree trunk. Anyway, the problem is that green thing in the front. Also the background is again cluttered.

In the third, the plants are cut off and I don't even know what the things in front are. Maybe if you got lower/closer and just focused on the plants?

I really like these. They're are truly beautiful and well focused.
Though I think you should try and experiment more with light, use the day and night to ur advantage.
They way you have done them is really fabulous though and I think you should kee up the good work!

1. I really like this picture- I think that you could have incorporated more DOF though. DOF stands for Depth of Field, which means that the focused part is sharp and the unfocused part is really blurry, allowing the person who is looking at the photography to identify the focal point easily. In this shot, because there isn't much DOF, the background is really distracting. You could also crop this, and take out some of the right side. The positioning feels a little awkward, and I really think that the stems would look great for framing. However, I do really like the perspective and colors in this one. Nice job on that.

--For the future--
If you want a lot of DOF/bokeh, you might want to get a Canon or Nikon for your new camera. I have an Olympus that I love, but they have more complex lenses, allowing them to focus on more all at once, making it difficult to get that effect. Just some thoughts.


2. Lovely lines in this one. I actually like the slightly=washed out effect in this one as well. The only problem is, I can't find the focal point. Defining the focal point is one of the most important elements in a picture. This one kind of has the plant in the middle, but it really blends in with the rest of the picture, and my eye keeps straying. If you use a photo manipulation program, you can play with the contrast a bit to really make pop. You could also crop off the blurry thing in the front- it's quite distracting, especially with color-wise.

3. In this one, I really can't find a focal point. The focus is kind of all over the place, and the framing feels a little awkward to me. I do like the flowers and rock off to the left though.


Overall: Nice job. I definitely think that you have some potential. You could work on defining your focal points and your composition, and I think that you'll do wonderfully. Great job!

Are you going for a little digital point and shoot/compact? Or a DSLR?
If you're going for a DSLR, I'd reccomened a Nikon D3100, or a Sony a290. The Canon 1000D is affordable, but the ISO (light sensitivity) only goes up to 1600, whereas the Nikon's and Sony's go up to 3200, which is better. I'm not a Canon fan myself, infact, I'm a Sony girl (I have the discontinued Sony a380 <3)
Of course, these cameras are reasonably expensive. You could get an amazing camera second hand from ebay too. But I think, they're worth the money. Also, lenses sometimes are cheaper than you think. My camera came with a basic 18-55mm lens, and over Christmas I bought a telephoto lens, tripod and camera bag - this all came to around £155. Which wasn't bad!
But basically yeah, if you need any help, just pm me

I love the colours in the first one! The background is a tiny bit distracting, but that flower is just so pretty <3
This one is nice too. Great angle. I'd crop the blurry thing out though, and just increase saturation a wee bit
I don't like this one as much, but the flowers are nice

Overall: You're beginning to get an eye for photography, so well done! You've got a lot of potential

Okay, so first of. I can see some hidden talent in you. You just have to dig a bit deeper and experiment some more.

#1 - This photo is good. But it seems to me like it's on a bit of a tilt. This is sort of distracting. And the fact that you got the car in it is also distracting. Maybe move to a different angle so you can't see the car in this shot. I like the flower though, it's very pretty.

#2 - I don't want to sound mean or anything. But what is the point of this photo? I don't see any real focus. When i look at it i don't know what exactly i'm meant to be looking at. I'm very distracted by the green blurry line right in the front. I just don't very much like this shot. Maybe if you took it from another angle, and made the purpose more pronounced.

#3 - Again, the focus isn't right. Decide what you want to focus on and make that your main priority. Make us see what you want us to see.

Overall:
I think you have some great potential. I really do. The main thing you need to think about is your focus. Once you get that sussed out, you'll be sweet. I liked the first photo the best.

This made me feel like Alice in 'Alice in Wonderland' when she changes sizes all the time. I'm not really a photographer, so I probably wont' be that much help, but to me these seem really good. I love the colors and lighting and especially the feeling it gives me. Keep up the good work!

Shot one: Like many other people have said above me, this does nothing for the photograph. The background is wayy too busy for it to be a good shot. It's at a slight angle, and is ever so slightly blurry. However, maybe next time focus down on the flower - from the top - to try and get a better photograph. Also try using Macro.

Shot two: This is busy, but better. Try not to include things directly in the foreground of photos, unless you're focusing in on them. Again, the background is rather busy, but the thing is that here there's a large white patch towards the top-left hand corner of the photo. You could edit this using photo editing software such as GIMP or Picasa.

Shot three: I don't get what you're trying to take a photo of here. A lot of stuff is in focus, but a lot of stuff is out of focus. :3 Try again to use macro if you want a close up shot, or if you're taking a photo of something a little distance away, make sure not too much blocks the foreground shot. The background is also cluttered here.

However, in spite of all of this, you could be a really good photographer! Try to use different settings on your camera, and download photo editing software online - just make sure it's safe.

Oh, and if you're wondering, macro is where whatever you're taking a photo of is focused. It has it on most cameras, but I'm not exactly sure...
