Ok, I took 2 colors, orange and green, and made carrot 1.
Its pretty bland and bad looking.
Taking the EXACT same orange, I only added black to orange, making it darker. Thats it, just pure black.
I added pure white to orange to highlight it.
Look at carrot named "hue", for the orange's shades, I moved towards a darker red, and a more brighter yellow for the highlighting. I then went over with some 20% opacity red, so its a tad brighter than it should be.
Notice the difference?

Look at my ork, the shoulder pads. Those are not grey, its a grey-blue tint.
His green skin goes to a more yellowish green than just straight up color.
Using different hues makes a difference.
This is why dodge and burn arent great tools.
Im just spamming the art board arent I?
