Hello everyone! This is the third chapter of my story, Nature’s Elements. If you have read my before chapters, you will probably understand what is going on right now. But if you haven’t…well, that’s bad luck! Please read the Prologue to understand. All reviews are invited because, I want to see how well I can make my story by your improvement ideas.
In Sophie's diary entry, she has written that she would draw a picture. Unfortunately, I can't show the picture. Sorry about that.
Chapter Three: The plan of the Laramies
The very next day, Lesley came to the library again. She just couldn’t stop herself wanting to read the book so the part of herself that told her not to, soon gave up.
She walked to the library as usual and opened the doors.
That’s odd, she thought, usually the doors are kept open. But she didn’t think too much about it. Maybe the librarian had just forgotten to close the door. So she went inside. Lesley walked towards the Fiction section. She just hoped that no one had removed Sophie’s Diary from the bookcase it had been kept previously by her.
Lesley walked to the large ‘FICTION’ sign. Underneath that, there was the bookcase. All the Scare Your Pants Off book series had been kept there. Lesley brushed her fingers over the bindings of books kept on the shelf. When she was close to the end, she started to get worried.
Did someone take the book before I came? And then finally, she found what she wanted. The faded, scuffed binding of Sophie’s Diary came under her fingers. She took the book from the shelf and carried it to the other side of the room, where there were a lot of chairs. She sat down on one of them and began to read.

I am exhausted. I got caught again, by the Myron shopkeeper who keeps the cheese shop at the end of the lane. I was trying to steal some cheese because I hadn’t eaten anything all day, not because I didn’t want to, it was because I couldn’t really find anything to eat. I had found the cheese shop at the end of the lane, yesterday. The shopkeeper wasn’t in the shop at the time so I was about to grab a large chunk of cheddar cheese when the shopkeeper came in. After that, I don’t want to say what happened. One thing was sure, it was painful.
I am currently hiding under the ground with a few of my friends. We found this long tunnel under the ground a few months before. Then, our people found more and more tunnels leading all around the world. I don’t think the Myrons know yet, that we are hiding under the ground. Some of the people who hide down with us say that these tunnels were built before the Myrons had come, before us, perhaps when the world was being made properly, a natural calamity made it. But no, I don’t agree because the tunnels are too finely made. No, it wasn’t a natural calamity of any kind. It was the work of people. At least, that’s what I believe. I don’t think may other people do. Well, that is what we have left.
Belief. Well, I was just walking around underground today, and I saw this strange design on the walls. It was there, everywhere. I have drawn it below.
Hopefully hoping that she doesn’t get caught stealing cheese again,
Sophie.

The diary entry ended. There was something more written on the page. It was in some strange language that Lesley didn’t know. One thing was sure. It was not English. That was certain. Under that, was a reptile. It was a snake. It was purple and had black stripes. Strange.
Lesley turned the page. On it, like any other page, was a diary entry.
27th, wednesday
Today, I have great news! I know, I know, this sounds strange coming from me, but it is real. Lorimar, one of us, has hatched a plan to get away from here but, it is very risky. Now, let me explain to you, what a Crylic ball is. It is a ball that has a lot of power in it. The power in it is special. The power inside it special because the power inside it can give you power to make wishes. We are planning to steal one of the Crylic balls from one of the apothecaries. The only problem is the fact that the shopkeeper probably will recognize us as the Laramies we are, and then, we’ll get into big trouble. The older ones said that we, children could do the sneaking around work to see if there was anyone there and then give the signal and the older ones, namely the adults, could do the stealing.
Well, most of us agreed with it, but I am not too sure that I should agree with it. It could be dangerous and I don’t want to be caught. Right now, one of the older ones in our group are selecting the children that are fit for the job. I hope that he doesn’t notice me, writing in a thick book right behind him. If he does, I will probably get chosen because I am really good at climbing, if I say so myself.
Hoping that she doesn’t get chosen,
Sophie
This was the end of another diary entry. Lesley sort of wished that the diary entries wouldn’t end this quickly. It was quite irritating; you had to keep on turning the page of the volume. So, since she didn’t really have any other choice, Lesley turned the page of the thick volume.
28th, Thursday
Guess what, I got bad luck. I got chosen. I told them that I didn’t want to do it around 30 times, but they wouldn’t allow it. If you think that I am being stupid and not thinking about how the Laramies are going to live later on or just plain selfish, you are wrong. I have been thinking about it, but the problem is, I didn’t want to get caught and get tortured like the others who have tried other things as dangerous as this one. Well, you could also say that…I am kind of scared too. And, I just know that this plan is not going to work.
Okay, so back to what’s happening. Well, since they chose me, they said that we had to stand in a long line. I will write later and tell you what happened because one of them is shouting at me to put the book down and listen to what they have to say.
Well, it’s over and I’ll tell you what happened. They told us to stand in rows of twelve and they told us the plan. Lorimar and her team are going to sneak underground to see if they can find anything important from there. I and the rest of my team are going to sneak above the shop. On top of a large tree that has one of its branches hanging on top of the shop. Then, we are going to jump onto the roof of the shop and see if we can find anything over there. Gorman, one of the older ones are going to wait for a cock to crow (that’s our signal that we found where its kept and that we know that the shopkeeper is not inside the shop) then, he is going to send groups to get one or more of the Crylic balls. They have told us that we are going to do this first thing next morning. I hope our plan works nicely. Actually, since I have heard the plan, like it is now, I am starting to think that the idea is going to work sort of. The plan is pretty good but it is very, very, very risky.
Hoping that our plan works,
Sophie
So, once again, another diary entry stopped. Lesley actually wanted to continue now and see what Sophie was going to do next. It was starting to get very interesting. Lesley stood up and walked towards the librarian. She wanted to take the book. It was nice. She reached the librarian’s desk and put the book on the desk.
“I would like to take this book, please.” She told the librarian.
“Hmmm… Where did you find this book?” answered the librarian strangely.
“What do you mean?” Asked Lesley surprised. Why, the librarian was supposed to know all of his books!
“I mean, I have never seen this book before in the library.” answered the librarian.
“Urm… Well, I found it on the shelf right under the ‘FICTION’ sign.”
“Really?”
“Well, yeah.”
“Okay. And do you understand this book?”
“Well, yeah.” Lesley was starting to feel a little scared.
“And, if you understand it, which language is it in?”
“English, of course!” Lesley was getting angry now. The librarian was probably making fun of her by acting that he couldn’t read the book.
“Ah, English… I see.” He muttered. He waited for a little while.
“Ah, you said you wanted to take this book?”
“Well, yes.”
The librarian took the book, looked at its number and entered it into the computer. He muttered for a little while to himself before returning the book back to Lesley.
“Tell me if you like it.” He said winking. Lesley realized that he was trying to sound carefree, but he was failing miserably. There was something in his voice that made Lesley feel like there was something very wrong with him.
“O-Kay,” she replied feeling quite surprised. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
And with that, she opened the door to the library, walked outside and closed it behind her.
I hope you like the chapter. I know, I know, the chapter was very small.
The next chapter's name is: Nature's Elements - Chapter Four: Arual turns into a monster (That chapter is in Lesley's point of view. I thought it would be better to write it like that, so that's why I did.).
Please read and review!
