Small wooden boat off the side of a pier in Port San Luis, CA

The comments mentioning the angle and there are better angles, I agree, only if I went eye level or lower 1. I would either be in the water or being attacked by the giant seals on the platform below. So, that probably would not be such a great idea. Indeed it was overcast and yucky out that day so the lighting wasn't great like it usually is here. I have other angles at which I took of this boat, which I do not have on here (but will be someday).

The link didn't get me anywhere, but there's actually a couple of ways to get the photos straight onto the site. There's a forum with the information you'd need to do that, but if that still doesn't help you can always ask a mod for help doing that. But right now I can't find the picture.

Megan- instead of posting the link from flickr, try going to "Share this", get the BBCode and just grab the text from [img]to[/img]. Don't forget to get those little parts too. That's what you want to paste and copy. It might be easier from photobucket, but then you have to resize them.

This is a nice boat. I mean, it's bit old and rusty looking but that's what gives it character, right? Since that seems to be the strength of the object you might want to try making it stand out a little more. Perhaps come at it in a different angle? Anyway, I'm jealous that you have a port where you live, I like taking pictures of waterscapes and all but all I have is little pond near my house. Oh well, work with what you got, right? Keep the camera clicking!

Hello! I really like this photo. There were just a few ways I thought it could be improved:

1. I think it would look neater if you cropped it a bit. Right now, the boat is the tinsiest (is that a word?) bit off-center; if you cropped it so it was either perfectly centered or way off to one side, I think it might look a bit better.
2. Right now, it's kind of at such an angle that it looks like you're looking down on the boat. I think it could be neater if you took it from another angle, like from lower down looking straight eye-level at the boat.

I really like this boat. I mean, that sounds silly, but really, I do. I think it's because it's old, its paint is wearing off, and it looks like it's been through a lot.

Oh, also, before I forget, I think this shot would be really cool if it was taken at sunset-time? With the low, glowing, gold light I think the boat would look amazing.

Okay, first off, I want this boat. It will be MINE. *Ahem* Okay, now looking at the actual picture. I'm not a big fan of the angle. I can also tell that there was a pretty overcast sky. Think you could take a picture when it's sunny, or at least blue-skied? Sunset shots are of course amazing. But the gray light's not as flattering as the golden light is. But this isn't a bad photo by any means, and that boat is just plain amazing.
