My First Art Upload

This is the very first art upload and I've discovered how particular Young Writers Society is about the attachments. It took me forever just to upload them.

Now I'm not an artist, I prefer stories, but that doesn't mean I absolutely hate drawing and there was a time in my life where I did a lot of it.

I hope you enjoy these and please comment!

Having no artistic talent of my own, I like to review.

First order of business- you would probubly get more reviews if you put your art pieces in a different spot, such as a thread just for artwork.

The dollar bill-
It's almost impossible to draw a legitimate, real dollar bill. I like the comic-like way that you drew your bil, with loose, loopy writing. Trust me, your people aren't bad. I've seen way worse. At least his eyes aren't just two dots.

The mirror image-
Honestly, I didn't look at it too closely at first. It works without trying too hard.

The tree-
is fantastic. I'm not much for chalk art or for judging it. It looks kind of messy, but it definately has lots of detail, and looks like a tree.

I watch a lot of anime so my artist inside me demands great picture, but I'll put that artist aside for now.

Money: Money... just... money... It's good a beginner, at least it doesn't look like... nvm.
I do say, that nickel ( I think ) is very sexy... I mean awesome 8D

Mirror Image: I love mind tripping pictures! I really like this one the most (I have a thing with mind tripping squares/rectangles), but unfortuantely, I can't see it. The flaws makes my eye unable to see this "mirage" unless I get direction somehow.

Tree: I've never drawn with chalk before so it looks pretty good to me. I really like the details and effort you put into this picture. Especially the leaves. It's a simple but nice picture.

It was good a beginner and keep on posting and drawing, you'll get better before you know!

At first glance of the dollar bill I thought, "Oh boy, look at this poorly scribbled crap." No offense, I'm just being honest. On second look however, I found the drawings to be very charming and full of style. It was as if you weren't trying (and failing) to perfectly copy a dollar bill, but instead wanted to be artistic with it.

The second drawing is an awesome demonstration of your spatial sense and ability to work things out properly on paper in a way that looks awesome. It shows some skills that few have, like me. :p

The third one definitely looks like you did it a long time ago, frankly. I'm sure if you took your time now you could make a much better chalk art piece. Damn chalk is always so fussy, though, eh?

The first drawing: I like it, but I think it looks a bit messy. I don't know whether this is intentional or not, but it comes off as sort of sloppy, particularly in the face area. The details are good, though, and I think it could be a really cool piece if you just made the lines straighter around the edges.

The second drawing: I love this. It's really cool - the only flaw I can find is a place where the overlapping is wrong. (The upper right corner of the drawing on the left.) But overall this is amazing.

Third drawing: the chalk effect is cool. It looks messy but I think that adds texture to the leaves so it works well. The only thing I didn't like was the ground because it looked really simple and hastily done in comparison to the tree, because the tree is much more detailed and the ground is just a scribble of brown.

Overall I think these are really promising. You should post more of your work!

Attaching your art may be a bit easier if you use something like photobucket or flickr in the future.
So, I like these.
At first glance, I really wasn't sure, but looking at them closer, I found the style that you've put into them, and they're all really unique and fun, especially the dollar bills. You might think of working on the people a bit more though- try fixing up proportions and hair.

The second one is great- I didn't really find the flaws you were talking about, and I must have stared at that thing for five minutes- really interesting, and I love the colors.


The last one, I'm not so fond of- chalk is an extremely difficult material to work with, and it shows. In all of your pieces, I would try pressing lighter- personally, I've always worked more through sketching things about than drawing with one straight line, and drawing very softly to build up to darker lines. It makes fixing mistakes really easy, and oftentimes makes getting that one true line right where you want it a little less impossible. It would also reduce the look of sloppiness and messiness that is a little apparent in your work.

All in all, these are pretty good- you have some great stylized work, and if you work some more, I think that you could be fantastic- great job!
