Now, seeing as you just bought your new camera (a FujiFilm, you say? I am not quite familiar with that brand, so I cannot be of much help, I am afraid), I would just like to ask you if you have experimented with the settings yet and read some articles on using manual on your camera? Manual may seem far-fetched at the moment if you are using auto, as it can be complicated, but it makes for much better photos in the long-run. You should look into it!
On to the actual photo you have taken here. The first thing I noticed about this photo was how bland the tones were, and just the photo itself. You, the photographer, obviously wanted us to focus on that twig-like stem, however, my eyes roamed the whole image before even catching notice of the twig, to be honest. The tones are so dull, too, and I know it's winter, but the bland tones in this picture aren't wintery, they're just downright ugly-looking to the eye. I also dislike how you cut off the twig/stem, and did not show us where it was rooted at. It makes the photo look a bit odd, at least to me. The angle is also just too 'straight' and 'out-right,' letting the viewer just see and not look with any creativity or interest.
Overall, I sadly must say I did not like this photo. I suggest you play around with angles, white balance, and just the overall settings of your new camera to better understand it and what it can do. Hello Okay, firstly, the positives: - The focusing isn't bad. The twig is clearly in focus, and the background is out of focus. Good job on that - The quality of the photo itself is good too, so your camera was definitely worth it! - I like how the twigs aren't bang in the middle too. It makes the photo more interesting Alright. Now the negatives: - As Mizzle said, the tones aren't nice to look at. It's very dreary with the browns and dark greens - The angle is all wrong. It's not creative enough. Try and show the whole plant, or get in close! Show us some detail! - The photo isn't interesting to look at, and you get lost amongst it. It took me a couple of seconds to realise the twigs was the main focal point. Try and make that more obvious, especially as there isn't much else to look at - Some creative cropping, editing and thought may help this photo though. Don't go crazy with the colours. Just crop some of that bland background out, and play around with settings like contrast, blacks, saturation, white balance, vignetting etc, to see if you can get something which really pops
Of course, you've only just got your camera, so amazing photos can't be expected, and technically, this isn't a bad photo. Just try to be more creative next time!

First of all, I need to get myself a camera because taking pictures, looks like fun! On to the review, I agree with Justagirl on this one. I think the whole picture is disturbed by the white behind and so I can't really tell where the focus is. I don't know as I'm no expert in these things but maybe it's due to the fact that the plants have thin stalks. I do like it still. It's very humble. You should definitely keep at this. Say hi to your new best friend (the camera, I mean )
Hmm...not a big fan..i don't see a real focus..although it is nice to look at, it is nothing special (If it sings let it ring, but if it cry, don't buy)
