Mary Christmas all alone,
Right next to the Christmas tree.
Standing in the cold with her Wise Man's gold,
In her red dress and a Gucci vest.
Standing all alone.
The Rockefeller crowd cannot seem to notice,
the lovely lady by the tree,
Her name is Mary Christmas.

Sparkling ornaments,
A gold affair.
Paired with silver,
& sequined wear.
Children walk along the streets,
Gazing at the rooftops.
They listen for the bells.

Mistletoe hangs over powdered boughs,
As Mary takes her holy vow--
to make Christmas merry now.
Heaven's snow that she does sow
and honest love that only grows,
Tied with hearts and sparkling bows,
Preparing us all for the winter show.

Dancers and crooners go their way.
Cheers of old, of gold and gay.
Children hold bows, dressing Christmas trees
As Mary walks from street to street,
& new snow falls and dusts her feet.
She carries on from road to road,
Feeling herself disappear.
But the lights are bright,
She won't fade tonight,
The First Noel is near.

Chestnuts roast with the champagne toasts,
As we rock around the tree,
Singing about snow and how we won't go home,
Because the weather outside is frightful
and the fire is too delightful.

The happiest of all
Sits alone, and in the cold.
We call to her, but she fails to stir.
Looking out the window.
Eyes locked past the glass
watching Santa go,
And all the broken hearts aglow;
They flurry through the snow.
We pray tonight won't be the last,
Although her tears are slow.

Christmas is here.
How could we not care?
Snowflakes fall from everywhere,
Like dancing magic in the air,
So strong we feel it in our hair,
The kind that brings the tears
When we reflect on the years
When Christmas meant love.

We cannot leave her in the cold.
She is true beauty. Look! Behold!
I pity the hard hearts in the city,
the ones too blind to see,
She is more than the Christmas tree.

Hi!

Honestly, when I first clicked on this, I thought I would see some poem expounding on how awesome Christmas is, lalala (no offense taken, I hope). I was pleasantly surprised.
My favorite stanza:
Mary Christmas is known as the happiest of all.
But she sits alone, and in the cold.
We call to her, but she fails to stir.
She looks out the window.
Eyes locked past the glass,
watching falling snow.
We pray tonight won't be the last,
Although her tears are slow.

I love the contrast between her happiness and tears, and how the people are afraid of this happiness (is it just me, or are they afraid of salvation, since it could mean death, and humans are afraid of death?)

But then these lines creep me out
When we reflect on the years
When Christmas meant love.

They ring so true to my ears!

the ones too blind to see,
She is more than the Christmas tree.

This stanza really gets your message across, that Christmas nowadays is more about commercialism rather than the love first associated with Christmas.

In short, this is a beautiful poem, nothing to change or correct, and you should be proud of yourself. And I never thought an atheist like me would be so touched by such a religious poem. :D

Thank you for spreading the beauty and the love. Merry Christmas!
Oh, yes, that's her again. HIDE. NOW.

I wanted to show how people neglect her, Christmas. this stanza was us trying to reach back to her and let her come back to us.

I feel strongly about touching you in that way. I didn't mean for it to be religious. I just wanted it to represent the true spirit of Christmas. I am religious myself, and I feel good about having done that for you. I feel good about this poem. I took me weeks to write

That should have took you weeks to take! Its long yet doesn't lose interest, flows and can be seen from different emotions. I'm not one for poetry that is long in length and does not come strongly from emotion itself, yet this is beautiful if I wrote this I would be.. well I can't explain it. This is one of the best Christmas poems I have read yet!!
"You can't find another me, but I can find a million yous."

"My shadow followed when you walked away and ever since that day my life has never been the same"

Thank you so much writeitalldown! I feel so honored that you feel that way.
I really wanted it to connect to the general population, yet make it seem so personal to every single person.

I know this is a Christmas poem and that Christmas is over, but this is still a poem. it is still writing. So please, anyone who can share anything with me, please comment! And Christmas is honestly never over, that is its true spirit.
