Mazzi - I am afraid your Symbol isn't going to work. The game-makers would deem this too useful and confiscate it. The most they will usually allow some sort of jewelry. A note-pad with pens is a no, because people carry their symbols into the arena.

Appearance/Picture: She's another pretty blond. She has brown eyes and flawless skin. She's muscular and not super thin. She's tan.

History: Since she can remember, Sparkle's been training to be in the Hunger Games. She's the last child of 5 and comes from an upper class family. Her whole family home-schooled her in different fighting methods. She volunteered for the games. Her aunt won the games a while back, and is sponsoring her now.

Skills: She can fight proficiently wrestling, and swordfighting. She's very good at making people like her and acting.

Weaknesses: She doesn't always think things through, she can't swim. She doesn't trust other people, so she won't always accept help. She can't climb.

Personality: She doesn't care about anyone else, and won't risk her life for a ally. She's in this game to win, and only that. Killing doesn't bother her, but she's usually not sadistic about it( like clove trying to kill katniss in the hunger games) She cares about her looks, that's and winning are the only two things in her life. She knows she's hot, and will use it to get sponsors. Sometimes she questions herself and her actions, but always finds a reason to keep training for the games.

Okay, I've never in my life read the book, so I might fail at this. It looks really epic though, so I'm joining anyway. You guys are just going to have to bear with me on this... Like, seriously bear with me.

Name: Austin André

Age: 17

Gender: Guy

District: 4

Appearance/Picture: Like int he picture, but with slightly longer hair. He has emerald green eyes and a rather masculine build. He's around six foot, give or take a few inches.

History: Austin's history has effected his personality quite a bit. As a child, he was quiet and nervous. Because of this, his father thought he was gay, and he certainly didn't like that. He used to beat Austin in an attempt to "turn him into a man", so that effected Austin greatly. It's what made him the cold, cocky guy he is today. He never knew his mother; she died during childbirth. While he was growing up, he was responsible for his 6 brothers and sisters due to his father hardly ever being there. This has made Austin rather caring of others around him, even though no one would ever guess it. He just has caring thoughts, but won't express them because they make him "weak" and "womanly". He never mentions his childhood to anyone and lies about every single detail.

Skills: He's very brave, partly due to his personality and constant showing off. He isn't afraid to do what everyone else is afraid to do. He's very calm headed as well, so he doesn't panic in tricky situations and can keep himself calm. He's a very fast runner and can endure a lot physically.

Weaknesses: He's rather dull, so you can't count on him for stuff that involves intense intelligence. Due to his love of showing himself up, he can act really stupidly sometimes and do things he really shouldn't try to do. He's incredibly impulsive and never thinks before he acts.

Personality: Austin is the most cocky guy in existence. He believes that every girl fancies him - and a lot do - but to him, there is absolutely no one who doesn't. He's wrong obviously. Although he does tend to be popular with girls, he ends up really annoying them after a while. He acts as though he knows everything, and doesn't ever think about the consequences of his actions. If you dig deep, as in really, really, really deep, he's a decent guy. He just hides every single emotion and positive thing about himself so there's nothing to see but the negatives of his personality. His I'm cooler than everyone else attitude is an act really, but he would never even dream of admitting it. He's even managed to convince himself that he's nothing but a jerk.

How much are you willing to post: My average SB post is about 3000 when I hold myself back... I'd say about 3000-5000 characters. As for amount... Um, well it partly depends on others. I'll definitely post once a day unless I'm out or something, but I think about 2-3, depending on others.

Other: To be honest, he's not overly panicked about the games. The main reason is because he doesn't care much about whether he lives or dies. Part of him even likes the thought of dying. He's not all there in the head. This is part of the reason he's brave and impulsive.

She has fiery long red hair and blue-gray eyes. She's very thin, a result of growing up in district eleven. She's 5'6"

History: Both her parents died when she was younger, leaving her, the oldest child, to raise her two little sisters. They were sent to the Community Home, and she protected her siblings there. When she turned fifteen, her aunt finally took Maple and her sisters in. Maple didn't trust her aunt, because she left her family to fend for themselves when her parents died. Even without trust, Maple saw the reasons her aunt left them before, money. Not enough, as usual. She couldn't raise three kids. Maple has taken out tesserae for her family since they were young, but they still all fight for a meal.

Skills: She can identify many wild plants, and can make fire. She's very nimble, and can climb very well. She can also analyze a situation and see the most logical solution under pressure.

Weaknesses: She doesn't have any experience with fighting, and if she can't climb or run away, most likely will fail.

Personality: Maple is very loving, but where does love get you in the games? She's used logic and math to help decide how to keep her family alive. When faced with a problem, like should I go this way or that way, she can easily zone out all other distractions and see the path that gives her the best hope for life.

Name: Specs Wyre

Age: 13

Appearance/Picture: Specs is a scrawny, short, altogether non-threatening looking child. He wears over-large round glasses held together with a piece of clear tape at the center. His hair is black, dirty and shaggy, and he always looks unkempt. No matter how fitted and sized his clothes are, they always seem to just hang off of his bony structure. His eyes are bright blue, almost electric in the right light, and can, at times, seem void of any emotion. They always are moving from place to place, calculating, plotting, planning. He has complicated braces that make his round cheeks and lips stick out slightly.

History: He grew up in a very cold environment. He never met his father, and he learned at a young age not to ask his mother about him. His mother was a high ranking scientist, and just wanted him out of her hair. Instead of receiving teddy bears and fake weapons as a child, he tinkered with circuit boards and changing them around to make electronics do different things. He was obsessed with how things worked, as well as the force of electricity, especially it’s effects on the human nervous system. But, unfortunately, those particular experiments never got past theories.

He surpassed his fellow students in classes, and soon became bored with those classes. He often slipped inside the classes of the older kids to satisfy his need to learn, and became a whiz at statistics.

He even calculated the number of tributes who would be up to be chosen each year. The games were intriguing to him, and he calculated which year he would have the best chance of getting to the stage first, the year with the fewest old tributes. And this was that year. He stood right beside the stage, waiting for the boy tribute’s name to be called before striding up to the stage and announcing his own name in the tribute’s place. Others laughed at the tiny boy on stage, but he had taken the volunteer spot, and no-one could take his place.

Skills: robotics, programming, creating circuits, calculating risks and statistics, appearing harmless

Weaknesses: no physical strengths, lack of emotion, wouldn’t know how to use any type of practical weapon, often forgets the little things, like, say, food and water.

Personality: He has a disease called ‘Aspergers Disease’, a form of autism that causes him to not notice other people’s emotions. This keeps him from noticing things such as sarcasm, or if he is disturbing someone. He is always thinking of statistics, and has little or no emotional attachment to anything, or anyone. This means that if he thinks sacrificing a teammate will create a higher chance of the rest surviving, he will do it without question. He has a precise way of talking, and likes to plan everything out.

Up For Alliances?: yes. He knows he can’t win alone, but beware, he will cut any loose ends if it will benefit him.

Your Symbol: At first he wanted to bring nothing, but since others insisted, he chose a small ring made of coiled copper wire.

She’s kind of tall and lanky for her age, but still young. She has denim blue eyes that never really seem interested in anything, and tends to cross her arms a lot. Looks are important to her, and she comes into the arena primped and perfect, though she sure won’t stay that way.

History: Cos had a normal childhood, normal parents, just… normal. She glided through school with a B+ average, the only reason it wasn’t straight A’s is that she preferred friends to her homework. Plus, her classes just seemed too easy for her, so she never really dug in. She never admitted this to her flock of friends, though, they’d simply think she was a nerd.

When she was reaped, many tears were shed. Her friends cried out and wailed, but none took her place. Cos died a little inside that day, and she knew she wasn’t going to win.

Skills: Mathematics, statistics, survival theories from books (never tried out, she only knows the theories), good at basic logic, can swim decently.

Weaknesses: not strong, not fast, no fighting skills, kind of whiny/stuck-up, pessimist, complains about everything, lower district (less sponsors)

Personality: She, being smart yet a stuck-up popular girl, complains about everything. Things are dirty? Complain. They found food? Complain that you wouldn’t have this sort of food back home. New team-mate? Complain that they’re just a waste of precious food and water. The only one she doesn’t complain about it Specs. She figures he’s better off with her than someone who’d try to double-cross the small boy, but his cold, calculating nature scares her a bit. She pretends not to care, but really is scared of dying. And she really, really, REALLY, does not want to be here.

Up For Alliances?: She sticks close to Specs, whoever he’s with, she’ll put up with.

So this picture is pretty close to what I imagine him being. He has brown hair and brown eyes, and he's a little shorter than average at 5'4". And he's not wearing his hat in the arena, though he did bring it to the Capitol.

History: His mother was killed when he was six because his family didn't fulfill their wheat quota for three years in a row. Since then, his father has taken over the family. James was the youngest with two older brothers and one older sister. Everyone always pitches in to help at harvesting and planting times. James has always gone to the wheat field after his mother's death. When he turned nine, he was forced to work full time with children his age from other families. Ever since then, he's been quietly steaming about the government's actions.

Skills: He's strong after seven years' work in the fields. And he's a good sprinter for short distances. He always does his share of the work, can usually concentrate on the task at hand, and keeps his belongings organized. Most of the time he doesn't have much of a temper. He loves to sing, and is also very observant. If he really wanted to, he could be a leader. And he's not stupid--he's not going to light a fire in the dead of night when the Careers are around. He can climb very high up trees if he actually tries.

Weaknesses: He only knows how to use 'weapons' like scythes and trowels, the only exception being daggers. He's still not that good though. And if he needs to run for more than 400 meters (about 1/4 of a mile) he'll tire very quickly. He's also very quiet and not good at all with emotional needs. If you somehow make him mad, he can only stand so much before he explodes. He doesn't usually like change, being stubborn that way, and he usually focuses on the negative side of things. He can seem detached from the world and emotionless at times, and is naturally a loner, though in this case he's willing to make exceptions. He's nowhere near skilled at swimming. Also, he's not that experienced at surviving in the wild in general. Farming stuff? You bet. But camping? No no no no no.

Personality: So, as said above, he's a pretty quiet guy. Music is a must-have for him, especially because every day, he sings a short lament for his mom. He can be stubborn, or seem disinterested in what's going on around him, and isn't comfortable sharing personal stuff about his life. If he gets angry, he usually tries to sing a song to calm himself down. He's very protective of his friends and family. He's a loner and cynicist at heart.

Up For Alliances?: Yes, he's prepared to cast off his loner side, because he knows he can't win by himself. He's not planning to make it to the end anyway.

Everyone - Announcement

O.K. So I was thinking why not make this a quarter quell? Unfortunately I didn't think about what I wanted to do until after I posted the storybook, so some friends of mine on YWS gave me some ideas and I picked the one that would affect your profiles the least.

There will no longer be any gifts or mentors.

I know this makes things more difficult, but I think it is a good idea...

No time to post my profile now, but I'd like to be a girl from district 2, please. (wow, it's been 1.5 years since I've joined a storybook. O.o)

(edit) Quick question--in the book I don't think the medical district was mentioned. I don't really see what the capitol would do with it--do they manufacture medicines? Do medical experiments? Act as general practicioners for the capitol dwellers?

Appearance/Picture: At 6'7 Red is a terifying figure. He is black with big, round, amber eyes. He has large muscles and high cheekbones. His hands are scarred and tough. He has a scar across his cheeks from an ax when he was a kid. Large nosed.

History:
His parents both worked at the lumber factory. He had a normal enough child hood. Always working hard. He was always quiete, didn't have many friends. His only companion was his dog. When he was reaped his dog and his mom were the only ones who cryed. He stood still. He was from a decently weathy family.His house was one of the biggest in the neighborhood.

Skills: Ax welding, sword welding, all forms of strength. Climbing trees. He's fast.

Weaknesses:He is kind of dumb and not very strategic.

Personality: Quiete, strong. He enjoys working with tools and walking in the woods. He can usually look you over and know your intentions. He never did good in school, often skipped to work.His is one of those personalities you have to know to get.
