Have fun, and tear all the photos/graphis to pieces, would you, dears?

Image
A banner made for an HPFF (Harry Potter Fan-Fiction) story. I'm quite proud.

Image
Maui was quite the beautiful vacation spot; I must have taken over three hundred photos in all.

Image
On top of an old volcano in Maui; it was about five a.m., and I was able to see the sun rise, which was beautiful, by the way.

Image
My backyard is full of wonderful little plants.

Image
The forest by my house is beautiful during fall.

hello :)
The banner is pretty :P
I like the second picture, of the sea and sand. It's got some beautiful tones in it.
The third one I'm less keen on. It's a beautiful photo, don't get me wrong, but it's a shame that there aren't any which combine the volcano and the beautiful sky. It would have made it much more interesting rather than a 'pretty sky'.
I love the focusing on this one! Brilliant.
I like the focusing on this one too, but I'm not completely in love with the tones. Great photograph though.

Clearly you know what you're doing, and I'd love to see more from you! :) And apologies for it not being a terrific review, there wasn't anything to be critical over :P

Yay! Mizz Mizzle is my 500th!
*hugs*

The banner: I love the texture and depth to this (What program did you use to make these anyways?) because overall, it’s very loverly. The text, however, is rather hard to read, especially the first ‘o’ in ‘trombone’ and you almost miss ‘squib.’ I actually didn’t notice it until I had looked over it several times.

The beach: This is, probably more than anything, perfect because you were working with Maui and how much more beautiful of a location could you get then Maui. The beach here is so unbelievably clean and smooth and the water is so crisp and unpolluted. I love it and I love the way you cropped it.

The sky: Again, it’s really not even fair that this is so pretty because you had such a pretty location to work with. Even if it’s really mostly white, there is so much shade and variation that it’s such a superb picture. The cropped proportions seem odd though. It does really look sort of like you might have cropped something out of the bottom. Not sure why in this, it feels so odd to me.

Little plant: I don’t know what this is exactly that makes me both love and hate this picture. I love the detail in those little plants in the corner but they’re almost hard to focus on because the colors are very…blah. Pretty, but kind of depressing. And for some reason my eye is actually more drawn to the less focused background area than anything else. The whitish plant sort of fades into the background.

Leaf: Okay, I can’t say if you did or didn’t edit this bunches but this seems like it was dodged and blurred a good bit. However, I love that isn’t a conventional, pretty pressed orange leaf and I do really like the colors here. I can’t decide if I really like this or not though. *ponders*

Overall, I don’t hate any of these but I think you have to be careful with taking too much focus out of the background. At least for me, it almost makes it harder to focus on the focus of the image. If that makes sense.
But you do definitely live in a very pretty place, you must, and your vacation must have been pretty kickin’ too if you were on top of a volcano at 5 a.m.
Never forget who you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.

Hey Mizz! Here as requested! Although I'm a little out of practice... lol

1. - I really like this! It's so pretty and I like how it transitions from light to darker. However I would say that some of the text is getting lost a little and perhaps you need to make it a bit darker so it is more readable. It's mainly the word trombone that is getting a little lost. But other than that this is a really good banner.

2. - I like the composition of this photo. I don't tend to like close-up photos, I prefer landscapes, but the way that you have gone about composing this photo works. I'm referring to how it's in portrait. I quite like the colours but not sure about the water looking so turquoise. I mean maybe it was turquoise to begin with? But if you have edited the colours I would just say be careful how much you manipulate photos sometimes. That may be my personal preference on my part though.

3. - I think this is my least favourite of the bunch. I know your subject is the clouds and the light but there doesn't seem to be a particular direction in the composition of this photo. Like there doesn't seem to be something leading me through the photo, I quite like it when there are lines guiding the eye. I guess it just doesn't seem as put together as the other photos on this page. I also think it's a touch too over exposed in places but it's still a good photo and beautiful.

4. - This is so pretty! I don't tend to like flower pictures, they just get overdone and there seems to be tons of them in the Art and photography forum but I do like this photo. I think it's mainly to do with the fact that the flower seems to be wilting, which just makes it a lot more interesting in my view. I think I would have liked it even more if you had shifted the framing a little more to the right so that you have less out of focus background and more flower in the frame. The out of focus background, although good because it makes the flower clearer, somewhat distracts the eye.

5. - This is my favourite out of all of them! I just love the composition and the colours, the light and the kind of luminescent nature of it. It just seems so ethereal and kind of like an old photo someone found hidden somewhere. Not much more to say about this one lol

Good photos! You definitely have an eye for composition I think and I hope that you let me know when you post more photos. I would love to see more.

Pre-tty. Like Ed, I don't know what to say except that they're pretty and I can envision them in a calendar, vacation brochure, or magazine.

Okay, so I'm just going to start with: you're good. Really good. Much better than me, and I'm kind of super obsessed with photography. :)

1. This banner is gorgeous. I love the different tones and textures, and the text is very well suited to the rest of it. The only problem is, that my eye keeps on flitting over to the right side of it- it's kind of distracting. Otherwise, though, gorgeous. :)

2. Nice job on this one- it looks like you used the rule of thirds quite nicely, though the colors seem a little bright to me: both the sand and the water in the top right corner. Great DOF though... that can be difficult to capture from a side view of the water.

3. So, this is a nice shot- I really like the textures and soft tones; my only qualms with it, is that there's no real defined focal point. Otherwise, really great job. :)

4. I ADORE this shot- I think that maybe the focus could have been better on the little flower, but you have some beautiful bokeh and the tones are simply fantastic. Really wonderful colors.

5. Again, I love this one. Great tones, nice lighting, but the focus is a little off again on the focal point. Nice bokeh too. :)

Overall: Again, don't get me wrong, these are much better than I could do. I tried to nitpick, in order to give you SOME balanced feedback. But these are excellent shots- definitely keep clicking away. :)

Sorry for not responding to all the feedback sooner. I really do appreciate each and every one of your reviews.

Just to clear some points that many of you wonderful reviewers seemed to address. Yes, these photos were edited -- however, the majority of them only edited with a photo-filter called "sweet autumn" or something like that by Rita's Coffeeshop. At least, that's where I believe I downloaded it.

But again, thank you for all the critiques and wonderful feedback. I truly am pleased.

Thank you again,
Mizzle

Hey there Mizzle! This are are all great works! You really an artistic view on life!

1. Banner - this is well made! I really love the pink/purple hue because it has a positive and calm feel into it, what program did you use on making this?
2. Beach - WOW! I mean. WOW. This one is great, the way the warm-looking sand turns into the dark green/blue water in the ocean. It really makes it look very ambient
3. Clouds - Wow, you're really lucky to take this photo on top of a volcano overlooking a sea of clouds. It's a nice sunrise! Especially when you're overlooking this spectacular sight!
4. Flower - I love this one! I like the warm sepia feel you places in this photo, it adds a dark, yet positive kind of tone to this photo, the blur is very stunning too! The little dead flowers on the right seem to fit perfectly to this photo.
5.Dead flower - I don't really know if this is a flower but it's great! It has the same sepia feel from the fourth photo but the background has a golden light tone on it.

Overall! This are GREAT photos! Keep up the great work!
