"Look Golum, I'll give you this banana for your ring," the tall, dark stranger offered.
"No. It's my precious. No one takes Golum's precious." The creature climbed another rung towards the top of the platform from which the acrobats jumped. The stranger followed but kept three rungs between them.
"Then a round of riddles my friend. You like riddles, yes?"
"Golum wonders what the stranger has to offer." The creature looked down and cocked its head to one side, still clutching the ring tight in one fist.
"Peanuts?" he said.
