idraax, hey, girl. Jashy, here to review! =))

Okay, so I'm sketch freak. And I'll tell you what I honestly think (no hard feelings, kay?) I didn't know it was a street even though I've clicked street and its title is street. O_o ( I clicked this 'cause I saw your name.) But I can tell you what. The posts (I think?) look like crosses, so I guess, that's what the problem was. I haven't seen any of your previous works so I can't tell if you've improved. What I can say is you can still improve--a lot. The clouds were nicely drawn thought. Good job there. So, I'll stop here, instead of babbling about each stroke and line. Just PM me or post on my wall if you have any complaints about my comments. LOL

Hey there drax. I haven’t talked to you in a while (probably because I’m always in chat not actually paying any attention to chat). Anyways…

I’m going to be blunt with you about this and say that it isn’t particularly impressive because it lacks a lot of detail. It’s like trying to play Pictionary here. You’re giving us what you could draw and we’re kind of having to guess what it is. Unless I lean up to my computer screen and squint, I can’t tell that that’s a street sign up on that arch.
And to be honest, I’m not sure what the rest of it is supposed to be.

Add more detail. Shadows. Shading. Perspective so that the image seems a bit more three dimensional. Details make playing Pictionary a whole lot easy, just as they would make your sketch a whole lot more impressive.

The thing is that shadows aren’t really what need to be added in order to give this more pazzaz. It’s depth perception.
To understand what I’m getting at, take a look at this picture:
Image
Do you see how the highway is larger at the front and then smaller towards the back? It shows the picture has depth but that distance. (And yes this is a photograph. But it applies to drawing too.)
Image
This picture might be a better example. You can see that the objects on the street are larger in relation to the mountain, like the lamp post extending higher than the mountain, in the picture but that’s because they’re closer to the photographer (artist). That, more than anything, is what you need to work on rather than shadows.

Hello there. :)

So I have to agree with the previous reviewers here and ask for a little more precision and more details. First tip: draw the thing that are closer to you darker, and farther away, they will look more gray/blue. So the mountains should be a light gray, when the street itself should be close to black... You go like that, drawing plans by plans, always going lighter. Second tip: the posts look a little bit crooked. I draw straight lines for them, so it looks a little more neat. :)
Same thing for the wires, and the sign that's hanging there.

Another thing... what is those post with the wiggly things on them? I'm not sure what it is, and I'm a little bit confused. Maybe make that clearer? Or it's just me that can't figure out what it is. ;)

I love you sky, and It would look amazing with color, but it's great with any either. I love the way the lines are uncertain, which creates movement. And last but not least, I would definitely make this drawing clearer, because it seems like a lot of people here can't figure what it is on the first glance, and that's not something you wish for, right? But your on the right path. Keep sketching!

Idraax, just remember that observance is one of the essential keys for a good sketch. Streets are something that you see everyday, but still something you don't pay attention to a lot, I guess. So, I will suggest that you pay attention more when you ride in the streets, or take some time and walk around outside. Pay attention to shadings, how something lights up, the color etc. It's worth it, as an artist myself, trust me. ;]
