Alright, so, I've made another edit. For those of you who have seen the previous one it's the same picture (the lamppost). Anyway, I got a whole lotts reviews because I didn't realise that I posted it up the day before reviewing Sunday, haha. So yeah, here it is. Again, tips, advice, anything will help Also, it kinda reminds me of the video for 'Go With the Flow' by 'Queens of the Stoneage'. Heard of them?

Hey there Inbetweener. First off, thank you for the review suggestion to help me with my new goal. (My main concern is the greeting thing. Newbies scare me a little.) But aaaanyways….
The thing about this is that I think you’ve started to hit a point of ‘over editing’ that can be berry dangerous. The lamp post seems very disjointed from the picture, like it was put down on the page as a stamp or something.
I love the color choice but the thing you need to watch is that when you’re editing, how much you’re losing as far as quality. You really have to be careful about editing. Too much kills pictures. Usually, with edits, less is more. You’ve got to know what sort of edits you NEED first. Everything else, all the fun stuff, should be secondary.
Anyways, if you have any questions, or if you want to stab me for not throwing in, like, anything nice in this review, you know how to find me.

EDIT: Nate actually brings this up here. Art and photography submissions for the journal are going to be in black and white. So if you're going to create an image for the journal, imagine in without the colors.
Never forget who you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.
Looks really good, but it almost blinded me! It would be better if you also made it look real. It looks like a drawing. Well done though, did you edit it on Foto Flexer? If not, have a look its dead good!

Yo broskeeeey. I think (honest opinion) this looks extremely fake. Truth sucks, but I just want to help. First off your coloring is freaking fantastic but the dark night lamp thing on top looks like a weird shadow floating above it. At first I was like wtp is that ?(: lol. I think you should make it blend more. Sorry if I made you mad/:
Hello there Firstly, omg, you listen to Queen's of the stoneage? I'm not a fan, but omg. I absolutely love it. I think it's better than the first one to be honest. What fascinates me is how you get it to look like that...hey, call me ancient or just plain old fashioned. I have a computer, but I use it for typing and the internet. Funny thing is, it reminds me of an album cover this time of a really old rock band, like Black Sabbath. I see it now. Then there is a title at the bottom that says...well something heavy metallish. I'm sorry, I tend to get carried away sometimes. Good job with the editing .
I like the colors. Very, very bright. Haha, I also, will again say, I like the picture. It is simple and not very complex but many people can interpret it differently which I think is SUPER SUPER cool. I'm not that good at photography so I think thats its great that you do. Jenn
when you grow up you realize that Prince Charming is not as easy to find as you thought. You realize the bad guy is not wearing a black cape and he's not easy to spot; he's really funny, and he makes you laugh, and he has perfect hair and isnt wearing a black cape and easy to spot Lots of Love Jenn
Hey, Inbetweener. I'm Jashy and I'm here to give you one of my random reviews. I'm going to be blunt about this. Okay, there are some artworks which are given more beauty by editing; it becomes abstract and cool and stuff. But this one is just a bit, let's just say, not attractive--at all.
I knew it was a lamp post, but I keep on thinking, how come the black part just seems off place. It was like it was put there to balance. I'm sorry, but this was not impressive--for me.
Don't get me wrong! Each one has a different taste. So, if it didn't give me the impressions you had hoped for, maybe it did give it to another one.
I'll say that when you edit, try not to distort the picture so much. (Unless it has all meaning. =P) Do you get what I mean? LOL I don't think I'm making myself clear. So, please feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions. Keep shooting!

Helloooooo Well, I think you've began to severely over edit as I used to do. Editing isn't everything, it's the photo. Only use editing to gently enhance the photo. I would recommend downloading Lightroom 3.2 from the Adobe site. You get a 30 day trial, but in that time, I've learnt a lot about editing, and how doing very little is often better. All I ever worry about is the contrast, saturation, noise reduction if I've been using a high ISO, increasing blacks occasionally and a little post crop vignetting sometimes. Using a professional program, even just for a month, where all the typical 'n00by' settings are removed, can help you considerably. Another thing I find is consulting a friend before you post work. Sometimes they can see major flaws in your work that you can't, and then you can either fix them or re-take. And talking of re-taking, it's basically the best thing you can do if you're not happy with a photo, or people have given you very select positives and negatives about it. If there's something there that people don't like, you can retake and try and change the angle to ensure it's not there etc. Sorry for a mini rant *back to photo* Okay, well, I can see where you're wanting this picture to go, but I'm not sure if it's a good direction. Striking colours edited in can look amazing, for my sunset picture with trees (you'll find it in my portfolio/flickr), the yellow was mostly subtly increased on LR. It's also important to remember that when you're editing, you need to conserve what the original picture resembles. The bush/hedge seems neglecting in this. The dark clouds of the sky don't really fit in either. And the lamps dual colours isn't very attractive to the eye. I would really recommend that you either take a new photo and do minimal editing, or simply make this photo black and white, increase contrast and add a little vignetting. Just play around with it, but know your limits. Editing can be a lot of fun, and you're very very capable. If you use a professional program, it makes a lot of difference.
PS: Sorry if I was too harsh, I just really want to help someone with as much potential as you have, to succeed!
