Name: Dax van Curen

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: Dax is fairly scrawny, and stands at 5"10. He's not the tallest of the lot, and he's aware of it. His brown hair and blue eyes are unassuming and meek, and if he stands out it's by no means due to his charisma. He has a wide-eyed innocence about him, but can look menacing if he really tries. Most of the time, however, he looks like easy prey, especially with his rich-kid clothes and mannerisms.

Personality: Dax is, like his appearance suggests, frail and shy. He's quiet and nearly never voices out his opinions, and is happy to oblige other people. He dislikes imposing on other people and will always carry his own weight if he can. He hardly ever laughs, only awarding people with a small smile when he feels like it. He's uncomfortable when surrounded by lots of people or chaos, and would like to just curl up in a quiet corner alone, to work with his experiments. He has an especial fondness for the bastards of nature he creates, and loves them passionately. There’s a strong idealistic streak in him, but it doesn’t show unless you talk to him (or rather, manage to get him to talk to you).

He's easily upset, but he hardly ever shows it. Dax tries to be helpful, but he can't always be so, because he's lived a sheltered life and thus hasn't really faced much of the real world. He messes up quite a bit sometimes, and isn't aggressive in battle. He'd much rather stay out of it, and would shrink from direct confrontations.

His reserved nature might lead people to think he's cold, but he's no more dangerous than a teddy bear. It's his creations you ought to worry about.

Powers (up to 5):

1. Biological Manipulation - Dax can alter the biological makeup of any living thing - be it plant or animal. He can heal their wounds faster, or cause their wounds to decay and fester. Increase their weight, add extra limbs, whatever - any alteration needed, he can do. His favorite part of this power is meshing several animals together/animals and plants together, or just playing around with their DNA. This results in unicorns (couldn't resist), chimaeras, hydras, and many other creatures that one would think only exists in myths. Keep in mind that he needs these animals before he can actually do anything -- he cannot create living things out of thin air.

2. Kinetic Control - Allows Dax to manipulate how agitated the atoms in an object are. This will let him heat objects, or, alternatively, cause them to explode. Only works on inorganic substances.

3. Dimensional Pockets - Dax has access to pockets in another dimension in which he can store things. He can also withdraw them at any time. Kind of like a private vault. Keep in mind he has to have *stored* the things in the pocket before he can withdraw them.

4. Resurrection - Dax is always revived when he dies. It’s not something he can opt for/out of - it’s just something that happens, period. He wakes up after a few days or so - long enough for people to bury him and leave him trapped in a coffin. Besides, dying does not take away the unbearable pain associated with it. After revival, Dax has to learn many things again, like walking, eating solid food, etc.

Strengths: Dax does excellently when he’s surrounded by nature, or in a place with plenty of objects he can cause to explode. He can heal easily and can help injured teammates. There are no such things as medical problems while Dax is around. Plus, Dax is very approachable and hardworking. Plus, he stores all these little trinkets in his dimensional pocket. Very good for hiding things/putting handy stuff in. He’s someone you can go to when you need to rant, or whenever you just need someone to listen. He offers pretty good advice sometimes.

Weaknesses: On the negative side, Dax looks like and is in fact easy prey. He panics when he’s attacked and flees from battles. He’s incredibly easy to intimidate. Being a smart kid, he can see flaws in others’ logic, but he’s too shy to point them out.

Fears and Flaws: Dax is afraid of big, overbearing people, and will do his best to melt into the background if he spots any. He dislikes loud sounds and explosions (even though he can cause them). For this reason, he’s not very practiced when it comes to his kinetic control, and it’s not unheard of for him to accidentally cause something to explode. He’s incredibly afraid of dying/injuries, because he’s died once, on account of a family feud, and woke up in a coffin with no way out. He’s terribly afraid of enclosed spaces for that reason, and will go into a catatonic shock when pushed into one. He’d much rather be outdoors. Despises carriages for this reason. His fear of enclosed spaces and injuries is irrational, and could be counted as a phobia at this point.

Plus, his approachability works against him as well - not all that hard to kidnap him/get him to do what you want.

Preferred Weapon/s (Up to 3): Hahahaha what weapons? >> Do potted plants and chemicals count?

Brief History: Dax is the younger son of the noble Van Curen line - his twin brother Cal is older by two minutes. They’re fraternal twins, and whereas Cal is blond, bright-eyed, and charismatic, Dax has grown up in his shadow. Cal often took the spotlight, leaving Dax to amuse himself with plants and animals. He did not know it was abnormal to be able to do what he did until Cal told him so after Dax healed his brother after one particularly rough fistfight.

Despite their differences, the twins are rather close, and Cal’s lips are sealed when it comes to Dax’s secret. Dax has a few close friends, and is usually protected by his older brother. Even until now. It was Cal who was visiting Dax’s grave when Dax woke up, and it was also Cal who dragged his brother out of the coffin and covered up the incident.

Up For Love: If you want him, I guess?

Other: Breaks down really easily. And he keeps a baby liger with him as a pet.

Haha, I'm excited, too! But, all of these messages should go onto the DT now.
Anything that isn't an SB post should go there, so we don't ruin the flow. (It's really annoying when that happens. >.>)

Hopefully the first post will be up soon!

Zabriel

Zabriel sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, trying to keep his drooping eyelids open. He looked down at the city from his position on top of the hill. So this was Toliaz, was it? The city was so unguarded, so... open. No walls or shields wrapped around its edges, concealing it from the rest of the word. It looked so peaceful, sitting there out in the open like that. Peaceful and vulnerable.

"You handle getting the girls up, and I'll take care of the men?" Zabriel asked, turning to Lulu so that she could read his lips.

She shrugged and turned back to the city, examining it carefully. Zabriel waited patiently, trying to keep his gaze away from the south-west corner of the city. That small area brought back too many memories, ones that he would rather forget. Not only that, but guilt was chewing away at him. He was finally out of the Walker city, finally where his sister was, and he couldn't even go looking for her.

"I'm guessing you plan on using a few bad dreams to lure them out here?" Lulu asked finally.

I suppose so. That's what's easiest, and I won't have to set foot into the city, Zabriel answered mentally. And what o you plan on doing to get your half up? He turned to face his friend and made an attempt at an encouraging smile. It probably came across as more of an exhausted, forced grin than anything else.

Lulu shrugged, meeting his gaze head-on. "I'll think of something," she murmured.

Zabriel could only nod and begin to go over what little information he had on each of the three male six. Dax, Aridian and Conleth. He ran through the bits and pieces his mentor had given him, scraps of what they were afraid of and very vague areas of their history.

It wasn't very much to go by, but it would have to do for now. Besides, who's to say their little nightmares had to be based off of life exeperience? Or if they even had to be nightmares at all? Couldn't dreams that gave one an overload of joy bring them jolting awake just as they got to the best part? Disappointing, but they tended to do that to people.

Zabriel sighed one last time and nodded at Lulu. Time to lure some unsuspecting Walkers into the forest.

Malis

Clang. Clang. Clang.

Steam hung in the gloomy little room like a bad omen as the hammer rose and descended rhythmically over the glowing mass of metal, the sounds loud and resonant in the silence. Malis was used to this - she'd been in this environment every day for almost a year - and even before that. Most customers turned up their noses at the smoky smell and the heat - but not one of them complained, because all of them knew that Malis had one of the best weapon shops in Toliaz, and didn't take remarks aimed at her shop lightly.

Malis scowled and swiped a hand across her forehead. Even though she loved her work, she didn't have to like the conditions that came with it. Toliaz was a relatively cold place, and even though she often had to wear furs and the like to go outside comfortably, she preferred that to staying near a burning furnace any day.

"What does one have to do to get some better working conditions around here?" In the end, she couldn't really blame anyone but herself for choosing a profession that required a good amount of endurance. She wiped the sweat from her brow again. Besides, it was a profession that allowed her to live independently from everyone else, and she was fine with that.

She looked up as a sliver of light and cold air seeped into the room. Someone was peeking in, and she scowled, feeling annoyed at the sudden trespass. "If you have any business here, then get in and close those curtains behind you. If you don't, then leave."

The intruder grinned rather sheepishly. "Sorry, miss."

"Malis will do."

I huddled even tighter in my alley, right next to the garbage dump. It was too cold. Much too cold. And I was the one who resorted to ice for almost everything. But this bread right here? Warm. Fresh stolen. I probably wouldn't be able to go back to the baker's district any time soon, but there were other places to get bread. I shivered and buried my face (or, most of it) in the fluff.

Winter was coming. That meant more than a few things for me. One, food was going to get even scarcer. People only realize how much they need every ounce of food when they're about to lose it all. Two, I was probably going to be spending more time in Roger's tavern. It had an actual name, but I didn't know it, and I didn't care. Roger was nice enough, and there was always food that I could either swipe or squeeze out of him.

I regretfully stashed the bread in a fold of my shirt that Roger's sister was kind enough (I wasn't used to it, really, and she hadn't been nice since) to sew into a deep pocket. Handy. However, my knives were strapped to my thigh, where my shirt covered. I didn't trust having blades in my pocket. Some part of it was unnatural.

As per usual, I wrapped my arms around myself, not daring even get close to the bins or the wall. Last time I did, I got this super bad wave of noise in my mind, buzzing and crying and screaming and retching and making me dizzy. It's why I stayed from often used things in general- too much emotion, experience. If my immune system would allow it, it would make me sick.

But it didn't, so it didn't. But it's the thought that counts. And that's the thought that was in my mind when I fell asleep, still leaning into the warm half-loaf.

Lu

I smiled weakly and ran off down into the city. Time to wake some sleeping walkers. Being in the city brought on a strange, errie sense of deja vu. A sensation I didn't want in me, it twisted in my gut and ate at my soul. I shook my head and looked for the first girl of the six.
'Lu? Are you alright?' Zabe's voice whispered in my head.

I shook my head and focused again. I didn't want to talk to Zabe, I didn't want to think. I wanted to get in and out of this city as fast as I could. First girl... Cypress.
'LU?' Zabe asked again.
'Zabe, I'm fine.' I replied hastly.
Where was that girl?

I turned into an alley to see a sleeping Cypress there, hugging a loaf... scratch that. Half loaf of bread, in her arms. Poor girl must be starving. She wouldn't have to worry, there would be plenty to eat when they all returned to walker city. I took a deep breath, disappearing from site, as I walked over to her and shook her awake.
"Go up to the forest, you'll meet the other's there. Trust them."
With that, I left her to her thoughts.

I repeated this action twice more, with the other girls, before running back up to look for Zabe.

Ari(dian) Sorry.... Sundancer just HAD to come! I couldn't leave a beast of sch noble bulk behind. XD

I walking on the fringes of the forest, kitten sleeping in my hand, Eli on my left, and Jelly on my right. They chattered away to me of their heroic adventures of that day..

A huge bear, thirty feet tall if I'm two, cornered me against the wall! Luckily, Jelly was behind him.- Eli began, before getting cut off by Jelly.

So i threw a stone at him. His massive head swiveled around to face me. He took one step towards me. When he saw there were two of us, he just simpered off. We really showed him!

Yup. Who wouldn't be scared of you two? I asked, sarcatsic. I walked hesitantly into the forest. Kitted Woke up by my tense body.

Are you ok? She asked. He voice was even and pure, unlike any beast I've ever met.

Yes.

Why are we here?

Because... I began, realizing I had no idea why I was here myself. I just though I needed to come pay a visit to Sundancer, but I know it's much more then that.

Fine. Ignore us. be that way. Jelly said, sticking his nose up.

isn't right. iI realized. Sundancer! I called out to my griffin friend. EH came thundering through the bush, nuzzling my arm.

What brings you here, foal? Her asked. His voice was majestic and dominate.

Something pulls me.

Adventure? He asked.

Yes. Do you think you could... tag along? I asked. He nodded a big head.

Let's be off! EH said. i swung onto his back, feeling dwarfed.Eli and Jelly climbed up. He shook his head, picking up a scent, and walking off.

Go to the forest? Was she insane? I hated the place. Trees, glowing eyes, no place to hide well. The city was where I was supposed to stay, and nothing anyone could say or do would change my mind. Which is not to say that I wouldn't go. But I wouldn't. I was far too comfy with my warm and toasty half loaf-

Were those hooves?

Ooooh no. Those hooves, I could tell by the pitch, came from a tall horse, a heavy weight on it. Saddled nicely. There was only one person I knew with that sort of niceness that would bother coming down to the edge of the slums. Count Devon. Yes, the one that hanged my caretaker for six months and who also executed every last person who admitted to taking care of me. AND the ones he just suspected took care of me.

And, by the tiny metallic clink I heard, he had a sword. My breath caught. I'd been doing okay- not a single sighting for four months. And now he was coming for me, this time prepared. I filled my mouth with water, swallowed, and then grabbed onto the piping on the wall behind me. Making sure my exposed fingers didn't touch, only my covered palms, I pulled myself hand over hand to the roof. Then, I took off, footsteps unheard and any loose strands of my hair whipping back off my face.

I flew off one rooftop and on to the next, making steady progress east. To the forest. Blast it, his horse couldn't weave like I could, and I was a good climber.

Might as well.

Fumusia

I was watching the delicate strand of smoke, twirling it infront of me. So light, so graceful. My room was grand, and comfortable. It was warm, and cast slightly orange by the candles. Shadows danced across the walls, balletic and subtle. This house was the closest to home I would ever get. The gentle ting of the dumb waiter chimed, and some biscuits and milk arrived in my room. I smiled. Harriet (the old housemaid) was always making sure I ate; sending up snacks and meals.
I picked up a biscuit, and nibbled on it as I walked over to my window. The night was cool, and crystal clear. Just how I was feeling. The stars blinked at me, whispered about me.

I swung round to face my bed, making my light, but durable, cape of mist and smoke dissapear, to reveal a long, silk nightgown. I crawled into bed and reached over to blow out my flickering bedside candle.

Black.
I closed my eyes; sleep loomed over me, like an old friend.

Tap, tap, tap.
I was awake in an instant.
A soft womans voice murmured to me, "Go up to the forest, you'll meet the other's there. Trust them."
Shivers ran up my spine. I quickly padded over to the open window to try and catch a glimpse of the midnight whisperer. But they had gone, only leaving small footprints in the light frost.
The forest... My cape re-materialized, and I pulled on my walking boots.
I was going somewhere; I didnt know when I was coming back.

/Isha:/= To be honest, we are talking about mostly nothing which in its own essence is something. But somethingness can't be nothing if there isn't nothing in the first place. So really, we're talking about meaningly somethingness that's technically caused by nothingness.

Varik | Granger's Pub

"So there I was," Granger scowled, a thick Scottish brogue covering his words like a fur tunic. His face loomed closer to the men sitting around him. The man's voice bottomed out, a gravely, rigged bass rolling through the room. "Face-to-face with the deadliest beast this side of Mount Tireer." The man lifted his grimy hands and spread his fingers like claws. "He had claws the size of pillars that could tear through slate." His eyes narrowed. "He had fangs like straight blades!" His lips parted, revealing rotted golden teeth. "And his breath," growled Granger. "His breath was as the most putrid of swelled hog corpse, ridden with maggots and blackening from the noonday sun."

"Sounds like old Granger finally saw a mirror." The room grew eerily still as the wicked tone of silken fire burned the ears of a dozen men. Even as the November breeze rolled into the pub, the sensation of wildfire singed their faces. In from the front door walked Pravus, tailed shortly thereafter by an ironclad behemoth: the second of the trio, Varik.

"I thought you three were tracking Snarewolves in the northwest," Granger said, his bulbous eyes narrowed in suspicion.

"There's not much to hunt when you've snared the last Snarewolf," Pravus murmured. He turned his head to Varik, motioning towards the wall of mounts.

The man tugged his left arm up, revealing the head and claws of a blue-furred Snarewolf, fangs bared and eyes the color of a thunderstorm in the dawn, all mounted on a plaque of black wood. Varik took just a few heavy steps across the room and held the wolf's head up, driving a nail he picked up from the mantle into the stone wall with his thumb. "This beast was my final kill of the hunt," Varik said. His voice had the presence of free-falling boulders, heavy and mighty in its own wake. "We would've brought Pravus' last kill," he said, and gave off a dark chuckle. "But its coat was ablaze before I could slice its head off."

The men in the pub laughed, but old man Granger just sat back on his bar stool. "May I ask y' boys," he coughed with a decaying grin. "Where's yer Killer Queen?"

"Ah," Pravus recalled something and snapped his fingers. A tiny ember shot off onto the wick of a candle. From his side, he pulled a skeleton key. "She's upstairs, resting." Pravus shook his head. "On the house...right, Granger?"

The old man crossed his arms in a silent defiance, but turned his head towards Varik as he caught the glimpse of one of the twists of black steel in the sword he carried. "Of course, Pravus."

Pravus grinned. “Good.”
