And an introductory thread seems like the logical place to do that. Not that I'm often described as a logical person, but that's beside the point. Anyway, I'm here in the hope of meeting fellow writers and improving my own work. I haven't been writing much in a while now, so I'm hoping that YWS might give the the kick I need to start producing material on a regular basis. I'm just lazy, you see, a professional procrastinator in fact. I've been jumping around a few writing sites in the past - in fact, I used to have an account here as well, a few years ago, but a) I don't remember the password and b) I don't use that email address anymore so I dunno how to get to it so here I am, starting over.

I'm guessing you'll be asking all sorts of questions if I don't add anything to that, so let me tell you that I just started college in September, and I'm currently living in Dublin. First time I'm living away from home, in a different country and all, but it's great. I'm studying English, and absolutely loving it - there is a lot of reading material, but it makes a world of difference when you sit down to study something you enjoy as opposed to something you want to rip to shreds (as was the case last year when I'd been forced to take despicable subjects such as Maths or Sciences. No offense to any mathematicians or scientists who happen to be reading this, by the way. It's just that not everyone is cut out for the logical, scientifick-y things).

As for other hobbies or interests or whatever, I'll skip the reading/writing because that's a given seeing as I'm writing this post. I love to paint/draw/sketch, and I miss the smell of turpentine that hovered in my school art room now that all I have is my dorm, an A4 sketchpad, a HB pencil, a (small) set of watercolours and a few brushes. I never thought I'd miss pastels so much. I also began to dabble a bit in photography since starting college, playing around with various options and photoshop-y things in my Macbook to try and improve my photos and all that. Then there are the horses... yup, another horse crazy girl here. I did have a long break in riding for a while, but I started again, and if you don't tell me otherwise all you'll get from under my pencil are horses. Those are the main things - I love to sleep as much as any other teenager, I love shopping as much as any average girl, same goes for seeing friends and going out. I absolutely love winter sports - ice-skating, snowboarding (skiing at a stretch) and snowball fights. There, I won't ore you with more, you can PM/VM me if you'd like to get to know me better.

Oh, I haven't gotten around to the writing part at all yet, have I? I'm a prose person really, I tend to focus on short stories and then some novels. I need to edit one I've finished two years ago, and I've just begun writing another, but like I said, I need motivation to get the work done on a more regular basis. I do try my hand at the occasional poem, but I'm perfectly aware of how imperfect they turn out to be. Still, I'll probably give it a shot every now and then. I'm not at all a drama/script person, I know nothing about them or about writing them, unfortunately. Okay, as for genre, I usually go for literary fiction, occasionally fantasy or historical fiction, sometimes young adult or children's prose.

I can't think of anything else to add and I need to go get ready to leave for a family dinner thing, so I guess I'll just check in later and see what you guys all have to say about that. How about I quote one of my favourite TV series (oh, I forgot to mention these! Trueblood, 90210, NCIS... any fellow fanatics?) to end this post, and we'll see if you guys can guess what it is that I'm addicted to, television wise :P

Welcome to YWS! If you have any questions feel free to PM me, or a green member (Moderators).
Wow! Studying in Dublin? Awesome!
You like NCIS? Me too! DiNozzo is my favorite character, what's yours?

Thanks for the welcome guys :)

Hmm, I haven't read the books, Esme, but the tv series are pretty good. And yeah I'm beginning to like Eric more and more as the series develops :P

DiNozzo!!! I love him too, LittlePetRock, but I think Abby will have to be my favourite here. Or maybe McGee, though Gibbs is great, and I looove Ducky's random stories, so... yeah, this is me trying to come to a decision :P The show is amazing so I just simply can't decide - although I hated it when Kate went, and then Jenny :(
