“Your Highness, please wake up, the king and queen has request your presence in the library.” Bethany said, shaking Ehlena’s shoulder lightly to wake her from her slumber. Ehlena groaned and blinked to let her dry eyes moisturize.
“How long was I asleep?”
“Not long, your highness. Now hurry, the king and queen are waiting for you.” Bethany said, already running to Ehlena’s closet to get out a light blue dress that ended to her knees but long in the back.
Ehlena sheepishly got out of the tub, drained the water and dried off with a towel. She fluttered her wings to get rid any excess water and raised her arms up so Bethany can drape the dress over her body. Ehlena poked her arms out through the arm sleeves and looked at herself in the mirror. Her fingers were pruny from the water and her long hair was wet and dripping.
Even her chocolate eyes are red.
“Hand me a towel, Bethany,” Ehlena said, walking out of the bathroom. Bethany handed her a white cotton towel and Ehlena quickly dried her hair and tossed it on her bed.
“Wait your highness, your shoes!” Bethany called.
“No need!” Ehlena shouted back. Now what is it so important that her parents wants to discuss with her so bad? Ehlena shook her head mentally and walked down the long corridors until she reached the large library.
“I’m here, mother, father,” Ehlena announced herself.
King Darius, father of Ehlena and Rayne, looked up from a thick book and smiled warmly at his daughter.
“Daughter of mine, come take a look, sit, sit,” King Darius said, getting up from his chair. Ehlena sat down, right next to her mother, Queen Marissa, who was sewing a blanket.
Ehlena looked at the page that her father told her to look. The section was about Dark Angels. “And their weakness?” Ehlena ask, looking up at her father.
“One must know his enemy’s weakness if he wants to win, darling,”
Ehlena read out loud at the context: “Like the Light Angel,s the Dark Angels can not function without their wings. They die quickly if their wings are ripped, shot through, or broken by hands or weapons. Is that why you are building that machine?”
King Darius nodded and paced back and forth.
“We must win this battle, Ehlena. Mother Nature is on our side, darling. I know she is.”
Ehlena closed the book shut. “Father, you must know that Mother Nature does not side with any creatures,”
“That is why we pray! Whenever we get ready for a battle, we pray to her, to let her guide us to let us win.”
“Is this what you want to discuss?” Ehlena ask. Queen Marissa was sewing faster now, creating some sort of flower on the blanket.
“No, Ehlena. Your mother and I, ever since we found you on our doorstep, we fell in love with you. We knew we had to call you as our own. Now that you are eighteen, you are eligible to marry-”
“Father! I have discussed this with you two. I am not marrying anyone that you pick. I’d like to choose my own.”
Queen Marissa had stopped sewing now and was looking at her daughter with calm. “We know that Ehlena, and that you also reject every single male that we throw at you. We just want you to be happy, and so that you can ascend the throne next.”
“Mother, I am happy. You’ve given me everything I want and I can not ask for more. But what I ask for the both of you is to let me choose my husband.” Ehlena said and looked at them both.
King Darius and Queen Marissa exchanged a look and King Darius spoke up. “Alright, we’ll let you choose your own husband. But if you do not choose your husband in one month, we choose your husband.”
“I won’t let you down, father.” Ehlena got up from the chair and gave her father a kiss along with a hug. She then walked over to her mother and pecked her cheek.
“Oh would you mind letting me borrow that book?” Ehlena ask, referring to the previous book she had read out loud.
“It’s yours.” King Darius said.
Ehlena took the book off it’s place and walked out of the library before her father called her again.
“Yes father?” Ehlena turned around.
“Where are your shoes?”

Daisy lazily traced her fingers over the tribal tattoo that was on Trystan’s left arm, as would all the Dark Angel males would have, and then traced down to where his shoulder blades were and lower.
Trystan gave a low moan as Daisy stopped on his lower back. After the hot passionate love making, Trystan was the first to fell asleep while Daisy was wide awake, outlining ever inch of Trystan with her fingers.
“what are you doing?” Trystan mumbled.
“Remembering every details on your body.” Daisy responded.
“You already have,” Trystan said, bringing out his left arm and curled it around Daisy’s small waist.
“When did you receive your tattoo?” Daisy ask.
“When I turned eighteen, after killing five Light Angels.”
“The initiation?”
“Something like that. Why so curious now?” Trystan ask, pulling her closer to him. Daisy’s petite body was covered by Trystan’s thick tattooed arm.
“You’ve never mentioned it to me before, so I never ask.” Daisy said.
“Well I’m sorry. Can I make it up?” Trystan ask with a sly grin. Daisy responded with a smile of her own.
“You can,” Trystan placed her on top of him, pulling her neck down so he can taste her sweet honey lips.
A pound came on the door and vibrated throughout the whole room. “Trystan, open the door! We found a Light Angel!” It was one of the warriors, Bahn.
“Come back later!” Trystan shouted. He continued kissing her but it seems Bahn won’t take ‘no’ for an answer. He kept pounding the door until Daisy rolled off of him.
“I’ll do see what it is. You stay there. Don’t go anywhere.” Trystan said, getting off his bed, naked.
Trystan pulled on a simple shirt and boxers, next his jeans. He walked out of the room barefooted.
“What’s the emergency?” Trystan ask Bahn.
“One of the warriors found a Light Angel running through the Forbidden Forest.” Bahn replied. They walked down the hallway and down to where they kept captives.
“What’s the angel’s name?” Trystan ask.
“He won’t say.”
“Maybe he will after I beat some sense into him.”

“Dark Angels are known for their great strength, flexibility, great vision when battling, sense of smell and hearing, and heals quickly if the wound is not fatal. Dark Angels are classified more sinister looking than Light Angels. The Dark Angels are recognized by their markings on their skin. The males have tribal tattoos on their left arm if they passed a certain initiation. The women have a small tattoo on their wrist of a bird in flight of any color.” Ehlena finished the paragraph and looked over at the distance where the wall separate the Light from the Dark and then a little more where the castle was. It was the color of black like the night and it did look scary.
Ehlena received a chill up her spine and she continued reading.
“Whereas Light Angels are known for their agility, skillful in combat, sense of smell and hearing, and can withstand any hot or cold temperatures since they can’t feel it. They are defenseless when their wings are ripped out. They can survive without their wings but they can be killed by being shot through the heart.
Because Light Angels are pure, they have no markings on their skin. However that has changed since both the Kings wanted to identify which is a Dark Angel and which is a Light Angel. The Light Angel males have a tattoo of a cross on their right arm with a face of a woman-Mother Nature-behind the cross. The women however have a small pair of wings on their right hips.”
Ehlena placed a hand where her tattoo was on her hip and can still feel the small but evil needle of the ink pen probing her skin. She received the tattoo the day she turned fifteen, the age of becoming a woman. And how Rayne had laughed at her for being a crybaby.
Ehlena came across a picture of what appears to be what looks like a Dark Angel. Oh my, they are sinister looking, Ehlena thought.
The male’s eyes were bloodshot red. Pale skin. Long black hair and it seems as if it’s looking at it’s meal. Ehlena ran her fingers down across the Dark Angel’s picture as soon as a gust of wind blew in her room, causing some of her papers on her desk to blow off.
Ehlena snapped the book shut, placing it on the table while closing the windows shut, locking it.
She then walked back to her bed and collapsed on it, pulling the silk comforter over her.
