Some love the sea when the sun is high,
Shining white on the golden sand;
But I love the sea when the scarlet sky
Is losing the sun to the land.

Some love the sea when the children play
In the surf that breaks on the shore;
But I love the sea at the close of day,
When the salt-breeze sweeps over the moors.

Some love the sea when the waves are still,
When the water is peaceful and warm;
But I love the sea when the winds are shrill
And the waves toss and turn in the storm.

Some love the sea when the carefree crowds
Bask in the sun and the foam;
But I love the sea under pale grey clouds,
When I walk by the ocean alone.
You must be swift as the coursing river,
With all the force of a great typhoon,
With all the strength of a raging fire,
Mysterious as the dark side of the moon.

Wow, that was great! I loved how you write about liking the quietness of sunset and storms, when everyone else likes the busy beaches in the middle of the day. I don't think there is anything you can do to improve this. maybe add the word ominous in there somewhere, i like that word.
Light one candle instead of cursing the darkness.

I love the sea ALL the time! :D This reminds me of the sort of poetry I used to write back in middle school...only better, of course! ^_^

I love the sea all the time too. :) It just has a certain higher fascination for me at the times mentioned in this poem.

I really like this poem! The rhyme goes well with it and I like how it is some like the sea and then you like the sea. I love how sometimes the sea is calm, and at other times chaotic. Lovely poem! I want more! :)

Wow, I love the imagery and emotions coming from this poem. The flow of the poem is very smooth and not forced at all.

Some love the sea when the sun is high,
Shining white on the golden sand; [The semicolon's are unnecessary. They don't need to be there, and they kind of just slow poetry down. I'm not going to comment on all the others as well, but it's just something to think on.]
But I love the sea when the scarlet sky
Is losing the sun to the land. [I love the imagery here :D]

Some love the sea when the children play
In the surf that breaks on the shore;
But I love the sea at the close of day,
When the salt-breeze sweeps over the moors.

Some love the sea when the waves are still,
When the water is peaceful and warm;
But I love the sea when the winds are shrill
And the waves toss and turn in the storm.

Some love the sea when the carefree crowds
Bask in the sun and the foam;
But I love the sea under pale grey [I think gray can be spelled either grey or gray, and I don't know the difference, but my personal preference is the 'gray' version.] clouds,
When I walk by the ocean alone.[I love this last line. It has so much emotion packed into one little line, and the imagery is just great. It also finished off the poem nicely and isn't blunt or abrupt at all.]

Great job on your poem, it was really enjoyable to read and I really liked it :D Keep writing!

I loved this poem especially the rhyme scheme, I always feel that abab is the best rhyme scheme. I also liked how you used the repetition of "Some love the sea . . . " to emphasize the difference between the reasons.
