Hey! I've never posted in this forum before, but here's some photos I've taken in the past couple of months that I like... comments and criticism welcome! They've all been edited slightly in Paint Shop Pro for contrast or vignetting.

My favorites would be the first and the last. The first because it just speaks to me and the last, because I love the water drops on the flower. Really nice... I've got no critique for you, sorry

The doll one, though creeps me a little but I've never been fond of dolls because I always imagine them trying to strangle me in my sleep...

I agree, the first and last ones are the best because they are the simplest!

The first one has a lovely use of focussing - the flower really stands out due to the crispness and the white against the brown works very well. It's totally my favourite - it seems to have the most 'story' about it.

The second one is not as nice; whilst you still have interesting use of sharp lines and blurry lines, it just seems a bit more ... boring? The first one is like 'woah, this beautiful flower in a place where there seems to be no life'; it's all poetic in a way ... this one is less spectacular. but only because i love the first one so much

This one is a bit too busy; the hair is obscuring the face so it's a bit confusing. If the doll was looking into the light then maybe it would look more intentional? At the moment there's just too much hair everywhere.

The fourth one!! :smt300 This is definately my second favourite; the way that the bead of water seems so perfect and undisturbed makes the picture seem like the definition of tranquility and beauty. It's so simple and gorgeous; the lighting is PERFECT.

I love them. I don't think they're amature. My favorite is the one at the very bottom with the rain drops on it. You either took it right after it rained or sprayed some mist on it. Either way, you did a great job.

I also really liked the first one. But not as much as the last one.

I don't know anything about photography but I did take a few pictures that I entered in contests when I was younger. Plus I own my own camera. My favorite thing to do is come up with weird names for the pictures I take. And I love to take pictures of flowers.

Goodness! Have you just started taking pictures? You have talent, m'dear!!

1) Great focus, great contrast! I'm loving it! What I would suggest, however, is that you crop outthe top section. That great brown thing that crosses the screen is pretty distracting to me. I love your focus here, but that one section seems to make the photo too unfocused. I fell like I need to quint. Crop out that top part, though, and you'll be set with one very nice picture.

2) Not liking the composition in this photo as much as the previous, but I'm amazed with the amount of detail you are getting with your camera! What kind of camera are you using? It seems fantastic, and you have a real feel of the controls! But back to the picture - It is my opinion that almost any shot of human hands or feet (unless done exremely well) is cliche. This picture doesn't have the ingenuity that some of your others have.

3) Hm. Again, I'm impressed with the detail you were able to capture! This looks great! Very in focus! My main problem with this picture is mood. What are you trying to get us to feel here? I feel that this could either be a childhood picture or an eerie picture. Both would be great, but I feel like I'm on the fence here. Also, the highlights are really blown out in the doll's hat. It is blinding. So - for an eerie picture, I'd dull the colors a bit. For a 'childhood' picture, I'd put in some really bright colors into your next shot. Should be good. But let me tell you from the start - This is a very advanced element to put into your photos. I usually don't mention mood in reviews, unless I feel like the photographer has done an excellent job capturing mood, or is very advanced already. I don't even pretend to have mastered this concept. You've done a great job either way, especially if you are new to photography.

4) This is the best in this batch. Very, very nice focus and angle. My main point to make would be that it looks a little over saturated to me. That might be the effect you were going for, but I'd tone it down a bit. Otherwise, this is really nice. A word to the wise, however - Be careful with taking pictures of flowers. They tend to be cliche or boring, depending on the skill of the photographer. I don't see this as a problem for any of your photos here, but I'm putting it out there as a precautionary word.

Overall, I'm aghast at how wonderful these are! You've got some of the best new talent I've seen on this forum! Keep clicking, keep posting, and be sure to drop me a line when your post more! I'm definately going to be watching for more of you!

I agree with phantom of the potter - you have true talent! I don't generally review photography, because I'm about as experienced as a caveman, but I decided that once couldn't hurt ... I'm glad I did after all! I'm very impressed at your photography. It doesn't seem amateur at all really - very nearly professional! (Of course, that could just be me - you be the judge .)
My favourites are the first and the last. Probably the first a bit more - where did you get the suit of armour???
Overall, I am very impressed. You are a brilliant young talent, and I'm sure you'll be a bonus to YWS!

For an "amateur", these are really nice

1) I really like how it's only one flower,the "lone" flower What's it sitting on? Is that a knight?

2) This one's OK, but not my favourite.

3) Interesting choice, using a doll. I like the picture angle although it kind of looks like she's being swallowed by her hair!

4) This is my favourite picture, again the lonely flower, but more detailed. I love the drops of water! What kind of camera do you use? And what effect us this? The only comment about this one is that one of the petals sticks up which kind of bothers me.

You're in a good position to be able to use a DSLR. They're awesome <3 <3 although, I'm more of a Sony girl than Nikon ;D
Now for a critique.
#1. I love how the flower contrasts with the background. Good selective focus
#2. It doesn't stand out for me, but technically, the focusing is very good, with a nice Bokeh going on
#3. Interesting concept. I like the angle. It's creative.
#4. Love the raindrops, the colours, and the angle. Vivid, interesting, and lovely to look at. My favourite.

You're definitely not an amateur ;D
