100 facts about me

Me

I'm not a genius.
Most of my life I am in a good mood.
I rarely change my mind.
Usually I am calm.
I do not drink or smoke.
I am a vegetarian.
I do not read newspapers and magazines, do not watch TV or listen to the radio.
I get up on weekdays at 6-8 am, on weekends I try to get up no later than 10:00 am.
I love paper books. They have a wonderful smell.
I do not celebrate any holidays (except some personal).
I am not interested in politics and news.
I do not like when people do not want to be photographed.
I do not believe in superstitions.
I do not like unergonomic keypads.
I always try to optimize my work.
I have never been late.
When I feel very bad, I write sad stories or haiku.
I love England.
If I say something or do something I usually think it is correct.
If I have done or said something, usually I can not explain why it is so, but not the other way. (In fact, it is not always right, sometimes the choice is made on the basis of an inner voice, sometimes it is wrong.)
My favorite writers are K. Vonnegut, E. M. Remarque, T. H. Huxley, M. A. Bulgakov.
I can not be angry for a long time at something or somebody.
I rarely go to the cinema and watch very few films (not counting movies about animals).
I do not like conductors in public transport.
My dream is to live in London.
I love nature and animals.
I can not get up and after 20 minutes leave the house. I need an hour and a half for it.
I sleep for 5 - 7 hours a day.
I do not do what I do not want to do.
I do not play games, but I want to make my own computer game someday.
I do not understand how people can lie on the couch and watch TV all day long.
I do not understand disputes: "Film Camera - Digital Camera", "LCD - CRT", "Windows - Linux". It depends on the context.
I have a sense of humor, but it is a little bit non-standard.
I am a little bit non-standard too. Many people say this and, as I think, they do not like it.
I offend very rarely.
I can not stand the self-propelled vehicles for gasoline-powered.
I try not to visit the busy and noisy activities.
I guess I am asexual.

Relationships with people

It is difficult to communicate with me. Not all are succeed.
I almost do not care what I look like and what people think about me.
I have a few friends.
People whose opinions I'm interested in are not enough.
People whose opinion I really care about are even less.
I also know that there are many people which are smarter than me.
I do not want to say that I am smarter or better than anyone else.
People never cease to amaze me.
"Problems with parents" are a sign of your own infantilism.
Another thing that I really do not understand: why are people so fond of blaming the solution of their problems on others.
I am always ready to listen to the views of any person.
But I agree with them only after a good thinking.
There are very few people who are doing their job well, but there are so many people who say this. I really do not like the second category.
I rarely hide from people my attitude towards them.
I try to communicate with people from whom I can learn something, but there are very few.
I do not know how to choose gifts for people.
I rarely go to the guests, host even rarer.
I do not understand people who want to quit smoking but can not.
I respect people who are not too lazy to inform the author about an error, and I do not like people who can not adequately respond to these messages.
It makes me laughing, when other people are envious of smarter people.
Many people consider me boring.
Many people do not understand me.

Education, job

Many useful things in this life I have learned myself. But there are people who helped me a lot.
Every day I learn something new.
I do not like to go to school/college/university. This is a waste of time.
I think that there (see above) are too many useless and too little useful information.
Everything you need, you can learn yourself.
I think it is better to read the documentation, to look for in Google, to dance with a tambourine and understand something yourself, than to stick to someone with a stupid question.
At the same time I love to help people and answer on their stupid questions.
I do not believe that the presence or absence of higher education of a person says something about him. I also believe that the notes are not an indicator of knowledge.

Computers, Internet, and communications.

Cell phone and PDA are the things without which I do not exit home.
I respect Microsoft. Bill Gates is genius, though he is not always guided by the interests of users.
I rarely use emoticons. Some people use them too much and emoticons lose all meaning.
I always try to write competently. The Internet has not its language, there are only literate language and its ignorance.
I love technology.
I try to use quotation marks, dashes and stuff the right way where it is possible (with a typographical keyboard layout it is possible almost everywhere). I can not understand why "Word" instead of a dash puts a minus.
I have never changed the number of ICQ, probably because I use it very rarely.
I have never changed the phone number because of the lack of money in the account.
I remember by heart all numbers of mobile and fixed phones of all my friends, all establishments where I go and everybody whom I'm referring to.
I love to write text messages.
I talk on cell phone 30-60 minutes per day.
I often surf the Internet at night.
I am happy when I receive an email from a good man.
There are no numbers in my phone book. (Why? See above)
I spend at the computer 8-12 hours a day.
I'm online 8-12 hours a day.
But there are days when I just do not switch it on.
I do not think I know any programming language to perfection.
I do not think I see into computers.
I have studied Pascal in school.
I do not understand how one can use something other than Windows.
I believe that people who write code in Windows Notepad and are proud of it, are either imbeciles, or they have an unlimited amount of time, or they simply have never written a lot of code.
I tried to use Linux. I did not like.
I like Windows Server 2003 because it is fast and stable. But Windows Vista and Windows 7 are much easier.
I think the most important parts of a computer are monitor, keyboard, mouse, tablet, chair and table. With their help, a person interacts with the computer.
The Internet is real as anything else. People there are also real.
I do not understand why Russians decide to take other people's materials and post them on their sites. Why can not they to put a link? Although I am Russian myself, but I do not understand it.
I do not get people's laziness of putting a link to the author while publishing other people's work.

Things

I believe that every thing first should be convenient. To buy something just because it is beautiful/trendy/cool is silly.
I have very high demands on the things that I use.
I love when everything is in place.
When choosing a certain product I do not guide by its price, if it is possible. I choose the best for me.

Welcome to YWS! You seem very interesting, SofiaDesu. You said it's your dream to live in London? Trust me, it's really very boring. I used to live there myself.

Maybe it's just how small your font was, but these seem like an awful lot more than 100 things. Anyway, you're Russian? I'd love to go to Russia sometime.

All these things about yourself seem very unique. It seems you have photographic memory? And you're asexual? How's that like? And you seem to really love Windows; I can relate to that.

I'm sure you'll fit in here fine and soon learn to improve your English. If you need anything, PM anybody with their name in green (the site moderators) or you can PM me as well. There is a Questions and Answers section under Community--> All Community Forums.

To post literary work, go to Submit--> Click Here To Submit. It costs 100 points to submit work, and you earn points by reviewing others. Go to Discover Works and either -->All Literary Forums (and then click on the genre in which you want to review work) or --> Recent Additions--> All Recent Additions

When you review someone's work (that is, comment on it), if your review is not up to at least 250 characters (check the automatic word count) then it will not count as a review, and you will not get points from it. So make sure to make all your reviews at least 250 characters! Also use good grammar (don't worry about your English, you'll learn fast) and don't use foul language or netspeak (things like LOL, etc. YWS is a strict no-netspeak area). :)

If you need anything at all, feel free to PM me or just write on my wall! :)

Hah. I was in England last year. It was amazing. I can't describe my feelings. May be I love London so much because of the contrast between it and my city. I don't know. Probably many people believe that the city where they live is boring, 'cause they see it every day.

Yes, I'm Russian. Why do you want to visit my country?
Go to Saint-Petersburg. It is the most beautiful city all over the world.
I hope, you haven't this silly stereotypes about Russia, like bears in the streets, an eternal cold, etc.? I thought that now nobody have them. But a communication with foreigners makes me doubt.

Yes, I have a good visual memory. But my auditory memory is awful. If anyone tell me a little text (about 10 sentences) and ask me to retell it, in 99% of cases I won't be able to do it. It is very inconvenient.
I think yes, I'm asexual.
"How's that like?" You ask, what is asexuality? Then: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asexual

Thank you for information. I'm glad to know that a competent speech is a rule here. On many sites I just don't understand what others say.

P.S.: You've called me interesting and unique? Why? oO

Hi, and welcome to YWS!

I live in England, so I was grinning when you said that you love it here - although I don't live anywhere near London. How is it different to your city?

I'd love to go to St. Petersburg - it sounds so beautiful and full of culture ... but I don't know any Russian so I would be quite scared to go somewhere where I don't speak the language.

I hope you have a good time here - the moderators are always happy to help.

That is very true. Now that I've moved I'll probably take this place for granted in a few years.

Why do I want to visit Russia? Because it's somewhere I've never been before, and I have heard that it is beautiful; most definitely I will visit St-Petersburg. I know that bears don't run in the streets (the same way people in London don't speak with a posh accent as depicted in countless American movies) and that it isn't cold year round (the same why no country in Africa is hot year round. It does rain people). I want to see what the movies never tell us.

I have the same problem about remembering things told to me. My mother might tell me something five times in a row and ten minutes later I wouldn't know what she was talking about.

I'm not asexual, but it does seem an interesting way to live. Not being caught up in all the lust and global hypersexuality. Hmm.

You wonder why I called you interesting and unique? Because you are. Not many people create a list about their own characteristics and interest that is so long and so neatly labelled. You're the first person I've ever known to memorize their friend's and family member's phone numbers. I don't think I could list that many things about myself! :)

Not to mention:

I do not believe that the presence or absence of higher education of a person says something about him. I also believe that the notes is not an indicator of knowledge

I do like what you said here (although the English is slightly incorrect but that is unimportant and can easily be overlooked). It's very true, though many would disagree.

And no problem about the info. Remember to PM me about anything,

I can't say exactly. There are many differences between England and Russia and not in favor of Russia.

You can find someone who knows it or travel with a touristic group. Anyway I don't advise you to learn Russian, if you don't have a huge desire (well, unreal huge) or ability to learning of languages. Because Russian is very difficult.

It makes me happy. I have had some doubt after watching the film "Salt" (when Evelyn went to Russia). I was so angry because of the fact that foreigners still have this stereotypes about Russia. Perhaps it is just American movie...

TIGERSPRITE wrote:I have the same problem about remembering things told to me. My mother might tell me something five times in a row and ten minutes later I wouldn't know what she was talking about.

Haha, I understand you. My mom has to write on a sheet list of products that I have to buy, even if there is only bread, tea and sweets.

Clear.
Of course, you could. Just begin, and the list of 100 facts seem to you very tiny.

Yeah, I often meet people who boast of two higher educations, but in fact turn out to be nobody. There are a lot of people who have completed only the school (because it is necessarily in Russia) among my friends, but they are incredibly interesting people who can reason, who have their own opinion.

Yoroshiku! :D

Er, I think that's right. Pardon me, I'm new to Japanese. lol.
But, hey! Welcome to YWS. Everyone's got the main things packed down already so there's no need for me to repeat them. And I see you've left us with almost no room to question you with your one hundred questionnaire thing. Aha.
So wow, you're from Russia? That's quite amazing, actually. I'm quite big on traveling.
But, I'd have to disagree with the school/university being a waste of time. It's only a waste if you don't take it seriously. Although, it varies I suppose.
Well, if you have any questions feel free to PM me, I'll be glad to lend a hand. You also contact the Mods (Users with green names) they know their way around the site. Hope to see you around!

Russia? Well, no but I would love to visit there. When, I become rich, I plan on traveling around the world. Yes, you're probably laughing, but I swear a pot of gold will land in my hands someday. ^^
So, you are from Russia, how is the weather? lol
Education is a beautiful thing, you can never know too much and never experience enough. That is my belief but you're free to choose what path fits you best and live according to your own set of rules. :)

Hey Sofia,
I actually live in London. It really is an amazing place, but TIGERSPRITE said it well; You take for granted what you have where you are, I know I do. I'm sure there's so much to see in Russia.

We should do a swap; You can come and live in London, and I'll move to St. Petersberg. Is that where the kremlin is? The Kremlin, St. Pauls Cathedral and the unfinished Gaudi in Barcelona are my favourite buildings in the world. I only have the Kremlin left to see! :D

Welcome to the Board, I've only been here a day or two. So like you, I'm pretty new around here aswell.

ImABookPerson, oh, again... of course, there is snow in Russia, but we haven't it all year round) Only in winter.
Though, I have some novels, I mainly write short stories, novellas, sketchs, essays, etc. Sometimes I translate poems from Russian to English and vice versa. I like to do reviews, but it is difficult for me to do it in English.
No, I don't mind.
Yuriiko, looking at your avatar, I remember Ryuk from "Death Note". Shinigami eat only apples... x)
PinShearwater, sukoshi. I want to learn it seriously.
This is a question, so: Anata wa, sukoshi nihongo ga wakarimasu ka?
No, I'm not laughing. I wish that the gold in this pot will be never-ceasing.
Weather is getting colder and colder.
I haven't wrote that I'm against education.
Yes. I like this site a lot.
londoncalling, this is a quite good offer, but I live not in St.Petersburg.
Kremlin is the Russian word for "fortress", "citadel" or "castle" and refers to any major fortified central complex found in historic Russian cities. But I'm sure you speak about the Moscow Kremlin.

Poetry is my cheap means of transportation. By the end of the poem the reader should be in a different place from where he started. I would like him to be slightly disoriented at the end, like I drove him outside of town at night and dropped him off in a cornfield.
