Hello. My name is Sarah, and I am new to this site.
I've been into art all my life, and I'm eager to improve.
I love writing poems, songs, short stories, fan fictions, and novels. I also enjoy Storybook RPGs. I love photography, and drawing, whether it be realistic or cartoon/anime.

Welcome to YWS! I hope you enjoy your time here, I know I have.

It seriously helps bring across your writing and you find people who are better at reviewing certain styles of pieces i.e. short stories, poetry . . . and they are usually always willing to help.

Look out for the people with the green names: I.e. Demeter and snoink (Snoink may not be spelt like that but you will find him somehow!) These people will help and are very helpful at helping! Have a look around places. Contests are in the lounge. Review work from the home page or go into forums and look for a specific piece. a word of warning to not go too far back to find work and review as they may not want it and it wastes time and confuses us (We're not the brightest)

We come from all over the world on here so we are all very welcoming and no problems should happen but report if they do and it will be delt with seriously!

Remember people are reviewing your piece, not you. So do not take it to heart just use it as guidelines and see where it goes from there. If someone offers advice on a piece and you then edit it, ask them to review again and most of the time they will be more than happy to.

I am sure you have realised that there is a points system, to gain points you have to review work. The better review the more points. For something to count as a review you must write a fair amount so be warned. Points are used to post or buy gifts or whatever so make sure you save up. Do not expect review if you do not review yourself That simple really.

If you want to do a storybook read the rules and then find a new one which is starting and ask to join. If you're accepted have fun, but read the rules first, as we are protective over storybooks.

You can nominate members under the community tabs for various awards. You can join clubs. and lots of other things so look around

I know I have rambled on for a while but I thought I would tell you a survival guide!

So what kind of artists/ illustrators do you like? I love good drawings, but i can't really draw. Have you heard of any of these? Travis Millard, David Foldvari, Nicholas Di Genova, Tom Gauld.
They're my favourite, anyway.

Welcome to YWS! You like to draw? So do I! But I'm too lazy to scan my work and get it onto YWS. Maybe I will sometime.

I'm sure you'll get used to this site in no time, there are a lot of people who'll help you find your feet if you get confused or anything. As retrodisc666 said, Moderators whose names are in light or dark green are always available, just shoot them a PM. Or you could ask fellow members, perhaps those who have been around and active for at least a month.

As retro also said, when people review your work don't get personally offended if you dislike what they have to say. Just correct any mistakes you may have made that you didn't notice. However, if they use any abusive/ derogatory words towards you, you can report whatever they wrote by clicking on the exclamation in the triangle in the top right-hand corner of their post. Don't answer back, don't waster your time. Moderators will deal with it.

And yes, when you review someone's work (that is, posting a comment about it) if your post is not up to 250 characters (check in the automatic word count) it will count as a low review. Low review hardly pass as reviews, and will not be counted in the overall amount of review you make. So if you want the Reviewer I or II badge (there is certain criteria, check under Community-->Nominations) you should make sure your reviews are over 250 characters.

Everyone has already stated the boring stuff so I'll ask you some questions.
You like art? Terrific, I feel as if we could be best buddies. What type of art do you like? Do you like to paint? What about colored pencil? Who is your favorite artist/art piece? I am in love with art as well as photography. I do my best to improve and I have posted a few things on here. It would be lovely to see your art as well, if you post it, give me a holler.
As for Storybooks, I've recently just joined one. I've never done it until now and it seems like fun, so we'll see how it goes.
