Here's a drawing of mine. I drew this a while ago, as you can probably tell by the date on the drawing... Anyway. Here it is. Enjoy.

Great contrast and use of space.
I like the tree. It's different and makes someone think.

Really like it- great lines, and I love your use of shading. Honestly, I'm not the best critic when it comes to drawings, but I think that this was pretty well done. The sky feels a bit rushed to me in contrast to the rest of the drawing and how smooth your strokes are, but perhaps that was intended? Either way, nice job.

As you see it is how it was intended, though not the original image in my head. Either way, it's beautiful. I drew this in about an hour or so. *shrugs* Then again, I don't really notice how much time passes while I'm drawing... Drawing, painting, reading and writing are just a few of the things that can hold my attention for more than a few hours.

Thank you for the reviews.

I don't review art much so I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing here, but I'll give it go.

This is very sketchy, but I do kind of like the style. It's more natural than a lot of computer edited artwork I see. I especially like the way you've used the direction of lines and proximity to create texture as well as shading.

I would suggest a little more shading on the hills though. Consistency is important in art. The water and sky have a viariation of shading, even teh stree looks slightly three dimensional because of the way the trunk has been done, but the hills look quite flat, so it seems more like a mistake rather than a technique.

Colour would be good, but greyscale works too. Overal I like it, especially that tree :) I may raid your portfolio to see if you've submitted any other artwork.

Bonjour, mon ami.

I have to say it seems a very interesting way of drawing and shading. I am not quite sure what form of art work you were going for, but the overall effect of it is moderate. All I really know how to do is review realism art work and some cartooning. So, I will take that in mind that you might not have been going for realism when drawing this and take it as slightly abstract.

First off, I would like to mention that I do enjoy how you made the drawing to emphasize the horizon and that centre point where I believe it is the sun? Setting? Maybe rising? Either way, if I am totally off, it seems very well done in that aspect. What I would try to do though, because the eye is drawn to that centre point so much, try to make it have more of a reason to. In this case, that centre point is that darkened spot. Build around it, add details around it to create an ease of examining the whole piece, to create a form of flow.

Secondly, those jagged forms of circles? Again, I am unclear as to what those are, which led me to believe this is a slightly abstract piece. The only thing I could think of was that they might be crumbling walls of some sort. But either way, I believe they are supposed to be one of the main focuses of the drawing. You should emphasize them some how, maybe make them darker, for if they are walls, then naturally the walls should be shaded darker for they are stone.

I also don't like how you have thick lines clearly showing that is where the hills are and the movement of them. I think that you should actually lighten that up a bit or make the hills in themselves darker. The hills seem very light, and actually, grass should relatively be close to the same shade as the leaves on the trees. You have to look at shading through colours. I believe you should actually draw more detail in them, like long grass and rocks, or like a trail, for right now they seem very bland and are just kind of there.

The next part is that I am unsure of what exactly the horizon is. You have a really dark line, and then there is the sky, but beneath the sky, is that land or water? Or yah. What is it? For if it is water, then it should be darker then the sky, even though it is night, and if it is ground, then you should have more of a break to it, not so suddenly flat and odd. It would need to be darker too. And then there is the matter of the sky. How you did it made it seem cloudy and dismal. I like the feel of it, the attraction of it. It adds to the whole resolute and aloneness of the whole piece. But if you did not wish the sky to be so overcast, I recommend making more of a drastic change from the centre piece (the sun) and the outer area to represent the darkness blending into the light.

I think you were intentionally going for a sketchy piece, with drastic changes from darkness to light, and I believe you could do that in a better way. I myself am a great fan of chiaroscuro. One of my favourite artists, Rembrandt, would always use chiaroscuro in his landscape sketches and they always blew me away. But you have to make sure you use it right. You have to make sure everything has a dark component and a light, and that everything is clearly distinguishable from each other. Actually, if you really think about it, you almost did it inverted to what I would expect. I would expect the hills and the water to be darker, the sky a tad bit lighter, and the rocks formations darker too. Huh.

You might have did this on purpose, I am not sure. I was just giving you my personal viewpoint on the artwork and what I would have done.

Either way, it is marvellous and well done. Good job.
