This is good for a first time project. I like how you used a flag to cover up her mouth. This says alot considering they say that a picture says a thousand words.
Okay, so I really like the emotions that are captured in the eyes. I don't know if it's what you were trying to do, but she seems scared. We are currently working on capturing the emotions in a human face in art class... Believe me, it sounds way easier than it is. So good job for that, always considering I was right about the emotion.
Next, I like the style you gave it. The rough lines give it a feel... And the flag gave it an sense, a message. Anyways, I'm hoping I'm not over analyzing it, because I really like the message.
And for a first time, this is pretty good.

Well, I'm no art critique but in my opinion, this was really good! I love the title and the flag and the ragedy lines, which kind of looks chaotic The flag looks a it awkward as does her chin. For a first time, this was really good!! Great job, Hope!

I am nothing but a mouthful of 'sorry's, half-hearted apologies that roll of my tongue, smoothquick, like 'r's or maybe like pocket candy that's just a bit too sweet.
This is really cool. I love the blending and highlights in her hair. Her left eyelashes are also beautiful.
Things that can be improved: the background shading: the deft strokes that are unblended contrast the blended surface of her hair and face. There's also the little white margin around her that's known as a 'halo' where the background doesn't quite touch the immediate subject. That's easy to fix, though, just a couple careful strokes with the colors you used in the background, and viola.
The left edge of the flag where it wraps around her jawline doesn't adhere to the line of her face; it looks like it protrudes from her face where it should be flush with the line of her jaw.
